In my previous thread, I referred to how I was determined to pull through the storm most newly married couples go through.
In this thread, I tell you a few things that I did to ensure peace stayed in my home no matter what. Also, remember, this is not a one size fits all situation.

In those early days, I figured out that the key to my husband’s heart was not through his stomach, but through his parents. Naturally, I loved my parents-in-law just like my parents, but my husband’s love for his parents was deep and strong. When I was about to start my strategic move my hubby and I had no issues, but it was more of a backup plan in case there were any issues.

I decided to use my husband’s love for his parents to my advantage. I sat down and thought critically about how to get things done bearing in mind that my husband’s elder sister and I never walked the same path peacefully. So it became a matter of game meets game. My sister-in-law and her husband lived (and still do) in Ibadan, so it was easy for me to form an alliance with my parents-in-law here in Owerri.

Since no daughter of theirs stayed in the same town, I became the daughter. Their home became my second home. Whenever I was done with my tailoring lessons I would walk down there stay a while, and make sure that things were ok- in most cases I cooked there and carried home my share, with time it became the norm, by the time my husband ordered me to stop, my parents in-laws were already fond of me, and my plans have already been perfected.

To me, this makes a whole lot of sense.

But don't complain by the time there is a family meeting and you are asked to cook for 89 people, wash the plates and when your husband's younger siblings are watching tv while you are cooking.
