It doesn't matter. The recovered loot would still be wasted.
$20.6 million is about #12.37 billion naira.

Benue State alone gets #31 billion as annual Security Vote (the highest of any state) from the federal purse yet Benue is still one of insecure states in Nigeria.
In fact, in 2018, Nigerian state governors got a perpetual court injunction to prevent the citizenry from enquiring about how governors spend security votes. So those monies go to government pockets in a way.
That's why Wike can dash out #300 million to Sanwo Olu's campaign and Udom can dash out #100 million to Bayelsa and so on.

At the end of the day, people like Ortom would still reloot the recovered loot.

DissTroy:

Akwa Ibom gets #21 billion as security vote annually.

In 2018, Nigerian governors got a perpetual court injunction barring anyone from probing the expenditure of security votes allocated to states.

That unaccounted for security votes form part of the largesse they use as Santa Claus.

Remember when I used to do analyses of security votes pocketed by Governors across states while blaming them for partly being responsible for insecurity? Well, the questions are being asked and soundboarded.

https://www.nairaland.com/7957859/rising-insecurity-governors-turned-security
Only the person asking now kept mute when he had direct access to the President.

Until the injunction is lifted and security vote expenditures viewed through public scrutiny prisms, the insecurity in Nigeria would only continue to get worse.
Governors like those of Benue State and others, including the one who rode to power aboard the pious clergyman carriage, would continue to pocket these monies while innocent citizens are slaughtered.

Devil supposed punish each and every member of the judiciary that granted such injunction. The judiciary is one very critical accessory to corruption in this country and most times we overlook them.

That was how Peter Odili got a perpetual injunction restraining the EFCC from ever investigating his tenure as governor of Rivers state. According to Reuters:

The former governor of Nigeria's richest oil state secured a "perpetual injunction" against arrest by the anti-corruption police in a court ruling on Wednesday.

Peter Odili governed Rivers state, which has an annual budget well over $1 billion and where most of the estimated 5 million residents have no power, clean water or access to functional schools and clinics, for eight years until May 2007

https://www.nairaland.com/7957357/wahala-nisral-began-deducting-loan

So people got NISRAL loan under Buhari's govt and shared the loan disbursed with agents who helped them facilitate the loans. Now NISRAL is deducting the principal amount automatically from the beneficiaries account through their BVN and they are crying cos agent chop as much as 50% of the disbursed loan.

I dey read people lamentation on that post dey laugh. They prolly think it's free money that's why they agreed to those agents taking cuts from money they will pay back.

Every single person wey dey work for that NISRAL suppose dey efcc net like this from their DG down to each of their field staff.

Most of the companies involved are really big companies that have smart & experienced financial analysts , accountants and auditors in their employment . They also have standard legal departments and have big law firms on their books .

Dem go don clean up the house tey tey. Whatever EFCC will come up with eventually at the end of their investigation may not amount to much as far as indictment is concerned in the long run .

i was wondering the same thing - as in why would EFCC be going to Dangotes office to look for records of forex transactions when CBN should already have copies of all these records in their possession

the real problem is that EFCC is only good for media performances and not actual convictions

that Dozzy guy being investigated by the Feds is blowing the usual grammar, but when you are indicted by the US DOJ, your goose is already cooked.

The bold is the crux of the matter. EFCC is good at issuing press statements, "storming business premises & residential premises of suspects", doing detention here and there, etc and after months of court hearings the suspects will walk and sometimes the court will even order EFCC to pay the suspects damages.

In this Dangote and others matter, u will be surprised that some of the professionals who train EFCC operatives even consult for these big companies in different capacities. People who divert forex are not dumb enough to leave their yansh open na
