DAILY POST reports that a soldier was arrested along with other soldiers for riding a motorcycle against traffic on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. Governor Sanwo-Olu encountered these criminals while on his way to the inauguration of the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Center at the Ojo campus of the Lagos State University. The soldier tried to use his military status to avoid consequences, but the governor insisted on arrest and imprisonment. <Read more: http:///s48c5eaf0240104en_ng?link=1&client=news> |

Hoelujohn: Oga stop justifying nonsense. He contraven traffic laws. So he should be rubbed on his back for flaunting the laws right cuz he is a soldier? Even in the barrack there dos n dont. If you flaunt it, there are consequences. Corruptions lies in the heart of every Nigerians not just our leaders 5 Likes 1 Share |

Hoelujohn: Please shut up. Writing so much only to be found wanting as a supporter and apologist for crimiminaly and illegality. Being a Soldier is the very reason the chap must lead by example and not encourage Nigerians to flout the law let alone join them doing so. This is why I always argue in favour of regionalism. The average Nigeria is a crook, criminal and lawbreaker worse than the leaders he curses as “lawless thief’s”. Is it you then who will not loot blindly, given your mindset, if in political office tomorrow? Abeg let us all go regional so we can then all be subject to judgement of our own people rather than ‘one Nigeria’ lunacy where a soldier from the North, because they believe they are demigods answerable to no one in that region, can be challenging the elected leader of. State after he has contravened the traffic law in the governors jurisdiction. 3 Likes |

princemillla: Indeed. It is people like him who have convinced me a 1000% that anyone blaming Nigerian leaders alone for our woes is delusional. Can anyone say the chap you responded to will not be lawless, dictatorial, grossly corrupt and an abuser of power if in authoritative political or administrative office given how he has a warped sense of right and wrong like most Nigerians? Most Nigerians are crooks and lawless elements in my opinion. It is just that they have not gotten the opportunity or office yet to display their nefarious character. Ask Tunde Sabiu. The recharge card seller cousin of Buhari, one would assume would be humble and godly yet turned champion looter, even worse than many career politicians of 20 years, once his Uncle became President. 2 Likes |

Re: Femi Falana Vows To Pursue Justice In Soldier Arrest Over Traffic Violation In L by TopBanter: 9:09am On Jan 05 |
biaframaster200: Precisely. They are hypocrites. They are now the number one supporters of the soldier Sanwo Olu "disrespected' and "humiliated" yet they consider soldiers no better than chickens in the SE to be killed brutally and even cannibalised. This is the reasons Yorubas want regional governance. It is now clear to us we are a balanced, peaceful, pragmatic and sophisticated people who cannot reach our maximum potentials in Nigeria surrounded by rash extremists and intolerant fundamentalists everywhere. They will mock the Yorubas as "cowards" for being balanced, rational and peaceful while praising their own murderous extremism, destroying their region irreparably, as bravery. To me, I see the way Yorubas are augers well per us gaining a beautiful, peaceful, wealthy, economically buoyant and progressive geographical space. Whereas the way others are mean their regions will quickly descend into worse than Somalia if on their own. This is why I am eager for Tinubu to birth regional autonomy so my theory , I am.1000% sure of, can be put to the test. |

As a military man, you are trained to be disciplined. violating traffic laws is an act of indiscipline. He can't try that in the barrack, why should he show his indiscipline outside? I have a military friend who doesn't walk across lawns no matter what, whether he's wearing his uniform or not, he'll walk all the way round |

Hoelujohn:Thank you my brother for this taughful post. Sometimes, we fail to understand that these soldiers come from amongst us and don’t fall from the sky. They are peoples husband, father, uncle, brother and sister, who have mortgaged their life for this country. The suffering the masses are suffering does not exempt them, the only difference is that we the civilians don’t have to risk their life. Now going to my contribution on this matter, the soldier was wrong breaking the law and if found guilty, should be meted punishment commensurate to his offense. However, the governor was wrong in his conduct, considering the man identified himself as a soldier. In fact, even if he was not a soldier, he doesn’t deserve such treatment. There’s been a lot of one sided judgement on this matter which aims at exonerating the governor. This is the kind of behavior that have led Nigeria backwards over the years. It’s either you see a politician trying to support another politician without recourse to the dangers of his action on the masses or just one thing or the other. Look at the issue between Wike and Fubara and you will feel pity for this country. An ex governor is trying to control a sitting governor and a lot of folks have thrown their weight on the treasonable behavior of the ex governor. The soldier was wrong and deserves punishment through the appropriate channels if proven guilty, the governor was also wrong in the manner he executed the arrest, period. Even soldiers who face firing squad are treated with respect before they are deleted. After all, the governor was spotted same day taking one way and it was not deemed a big deal. Though I know the junior ranks amongst the military and other armed agencies, tend to be overbearing in some instances, of which myself am a victim, but it still doesn’t take the fact that the governors action is also condemnable. Going forward, government need to impose stiff penalties for one way defaulters, make roads motorable and make fuel affordable. If they play their part well, both sides will be balanced. 1 Like |
