izzou: https://www.bpe.gov.ng/kaduna-refining-and-petrochemical-company-krpc/#:~:text=The%20refinery%20was%20commissioned%20in,of%20lubricating%20oils%20(lubes). From the article - The refinery has never operated at over 36% capacity. https://www.nairaland.com/3065460/major-pipeline-back-track-fuel This was kachikwu being optimistic in 2016 after they fixed the pipeline to the refinery. In 2018 they reported that the refinery is nnpcs biggest loss maker. If the government is serious about making kaduna refinery work then they should do what kachikwu pushed for - a jv with legitimate private businesses. Anything else and we will be reporting the same thing in 2025,that the refinery is making a loss after massive capital investment You in particular are a stone cold businessman and you know that poorly planned investment in infrastructure that has never turned a profit in the past is a bad idea. None of the variables that made kaduna refinery produce at 36% and make a loss have been addressed or even actually figured out This is just throwing money at a problem with the hope that it solves it. |

GloriousGbola: I have not said you're wrong. I'm saying he has a point. You buy a bus for 60k, and it has made back to back losses. Then I show up to buy it from you for 200 naira. You won't sell. His point was that anyone could grossly undervalue the refinery and that was why past presidents probably didn't want to sell. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 1:56pm On Jan 05 |
izzou: That is called the sunk cost fallacy. It is the same thing that makes victims of. 419 scams keep dropping money even when it is clear something is wrong. A refusal to come to terms with the fact that it is a bad investment. If I just put another x amount this can turn around and we will start to make money. Kaduna refinerys history shows it is a bad business decision and the fg has not been able to turn it around. To take your analogy further, if you buy your loss making bus brand new and have it for 6 years, do you think you can sell it for anything other than scrap? That is where net book value comes in. 7 Likes 1 Share |

CrystalTiger: I didn't he did a video on the incident cos I usually skip that guy's video anywhere I come across it online. But like u rightly said, he should be careful delving into this herdsmen waters cos we all saw what Obadiah Malafia went through before his eventual demise. |

Itsrm: Okay, the lady that says she wakes 4.50am to cook for her husband cos a female colleague has been bringing food to share with him? Why are they giving her money ? |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Itsrm(m): 5:21pm On Jan 05 |
BlueRayDick: Some feminists led by Ujuanya demanded for her head. Guys and other ladies rallied around and supported her. Someone asked why she doesn't cook and refrigerate. She said she doesn't have enough money to buy. Her account number was requested and viola, 1.2m in her account. |

BlueRayDick: Tweet engagements and, consequently, visibility are the goals. The truth rarely matters on Twitter NG. Perception is more powerful than reality on that platform. And God help you if you ever get personal with any of the actively-posting women there (Twitter NG). She'd sacrifice you on the altar of public ridicule and scorn if it's guaranteed to get her trending and engagements. 1 Like |

Itsrm: Even if they are not in the country , it means they are not really busy wherever they are or they are just not serious . What’s the fuss about a married woman waking early to make lunch for her husband ? Shey if they have kids who go to school she won’t wake early to make their breakfast and if possible lunch , get them ready for school etc if she doesn’t have a house help? 1 Like |

GloriousGbola: Global best practice respecting the refineries was to sell as "it is." That was what OBJ did in the dying weeks of his government but YarAdua reversed it because it did not follow due process. NLC says government has spent over $10bn since 2010 fixing these white elephants Yes, the Port Harcourt may produce optimally but the money sunk into reviving it is a huge waste. It would also prevent its privatization as no private company would pay up to the refurbishment costs to buy it. The oil workers union would use this excuse to frustrate any sale. 6 Likes 2 Shares |
