Yaaayyyy!!!!!

She won it! She won! I am soooo proud of her smiley smiley smiley
https://www.machermanntrophy.org/ (watch from min 15)

I am still in bewildered awe at all she has accomplished so far. This is truely the feather in the cap for her. This award is HUGE!!!!

Mia Hamm. Kelley O'hara. Michelle Akers. Alley Wagner. Christine Sinclair. Christine Press. I mean, look at the caliber of those who won it previously, ALL of whom are FIFA women's football greats!

My Prediction: I will go out on a limb here and state that JOE has the potential to becoming a FIFA balon d'oro in the near future.

Super proud of her!

Ousmane Sylla of Clemson won the Men's MAC trophy also. Proud of the young man.

FIrst time ever in the history of the MAC awards that two Africans would win both the women's and men's trophies.

Onyi ECHEGINI - Florida State University and Nigeria,

Ousmane SYLLA - Clemson University and Senegal.

A GREAT night for African Football !!

No real surprise, Onyi Echegini is the Women’s MAC Hermann Trophy winner.

She should be the First Nigerian/African Women to Win it…. This Girl is on Fire.🔥

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 4:33am On Jan 06
Should I say Tony Payne should Watch her Back in that Attacking Midfield Position?? Cause JOE is coming with full force…. She can make runs in behind the defense and make backlines pay from distance. Echegini’s pure striking ability and poise in front of goal should be among the Best 5 in the World for an U23 right now..

Rubbish…. No Deborah Abeodun??

This IFFHS da misbehave, how do you pack attacking minded Players here without a single Defensive Midfielder 🤔

They lost their credibility when Desire Oparanozie didn't make their all decade team.

Omor that’s the Biggest Award for any Male or Woman College Soccer Player in the 🇺🇸.. It’s highly rated, right now all eyes are on her as a top Player to have won that. Award.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 6:55pm On Jan 06
I had listed earlier some of the players who had won the award. Most, if not ALL of them, were rated world class in their careers. Some even winning the balon d'oro.
That should give your some context.

What exactly was her body of work to warrant making the team of the decade? This is not an African rating, but a world rating.
She did not do anything of significance to be on the team of the decade. Nothing at all.

Debbie did not make Young AFPOY and played only one game in the WC. Neither did she even make the All college first team (she was on the 3rd team).
So, why on earth should she be on the team??

You just dey argue for no reason

4 WAFCON trophies (2010, 2014, 2016, 2018), 1 golden boot (2014) scored in 3 WAFCON final (2010, 2014, 2016)

Again, CONTEXT!!!
This is an best-in-world team of the decade list, not a best-in-Africa list.
We are talking about a time when the rest of the world could care less about WAFCON accolades, and accomplishments on the African Continent.

And when Oparanozie had the chance(s) to prove herself on the global stage (viz a viz; the World Cup), she flubbed big time.
In 3 or so WWC appearances (where her true measure could be gauged against her 'Team of the Decade' competitors) not a single goal - that is, if you discount the own-goal she scored. A so-called striker that couldn't measure up against opposition outside of Africa.
All of her WAFCON 'this and that' means didley-squat in the eyes of the world, as she simply was not up to par.

So, absolutely NOT. She did NOT deserve to be in the team of the decade. I mean, seriously? Is this even up for debate?

Desire Oparanozie deserves to be in the IFFHS CAF team of the Decade ahead of Gaëlle Enganamouit and Tabitha Chawinga

Apart from the World Cup goals she didn’t score, putting her Own goal aside. She was arguably Africa Best no.9 in that era.. She scored good number of Goals for Club and Country and had the number of major trophies more than those two..!

Gaëlle Enganamouit major career highlights was in 2015 wining the Damallsvenskan top goal scorer in 2015, and the African Women's Footballer of the Year 2015… What else did she do within that 10yrs that Desire didn’t do..??
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 12:02am On Jan 07
Johnson wasn’t even supposed to be on this list at first… Faith Ikidi was by far the Best Left Back in Africa till date., and she was on top of her game during this period.. IFFHS just decided to accommodate some names at least Mk e reach some countries if not their names wasn’t supposed to be there…

Onome was supposed to be in her CB position then Johnson out with Faith Ikidi at Left Back..

Do you even remember when Faith Ikidi was regarded as the best LB in Sweden during that Period, and went ahead to also win the Best Defender in Sweden when the Swedish League was still top3 in the World then..
Her 2011 World Cup performance, even though Nigeria didn’t qualify for the 2012 Olympics she was our best Defender then ahead of Ebi and Co then.., Club didn’t release her for 2014 AWC, Was a top performer at the 2016 WAFCON, Was having a good WAFCON in 2018 until she got injured.. 2019 World Cup her injury gave way for Chidinma Okeke.. Ikidi was the most versatile SuperFalcons defender who the Coaches couldn’t bench back then is either she play her Left Back position or Right Back position or the CB.. Na only when she no da around she no da Play..!

This IFFHS already lost their credibility long ago…

FIFPRO Releases All-Time Women’s World 11

Forget about the Voting and all that…. Where is Abby Wambach, Birgit Prinz, Christine Sinclair??

Picking between Hope Solo and Nadine Angerer have always been difficult but Solo gets the node with few inches… Japan Homare Sawa in Midfield 😂🤗😂

Omor some times mk we just da overlook all this their Award., Cause there were far better players who stayed and performed long in the game
