Name checking drama from 2010 thereabouts was lit sha. The memes were something else.

One time there was a post of drug dealers arrested and the dealers were Yoruba. One mischievous guy posted name checkers abort mission - it's one of ours.

Sometimes you just wanna laugh and watch Nairaland burn lipsrsealed
Thought name checkers was at its peak those 2014-2019 era. Those were crazy days, they even had an informal association of sort, comprising the two major "culprits" and checkers ...Igbos and Yorubas.

Name checking is very serious social conditioning, that even till today, I still catch myself now and again doing name checking under crimes.

Sanwoolu dan price market who will help him pay

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM6mFKeEJ/

The man speak the truth, when mc of Lagos was threatening other tribe nothing was done
Sanwoolu pass same one way what happened

Na nonsense the man in the video dey talk . Sanwoolu did the right thing for arresting the soldier for following one-way.

There’s no excuse for following one-way. I nearly lost a friend to one-way driving ; I think I’ve shared it here before . My friend was lucky I was walking side by side with him, I held his hands when the keke following one-way hit him. If I didn’t hold him and use all my strength to drag him, his head would’ve ended up under the keke or an oncoming vehicle .

Anybody passing one-way is a threat to society and should be treated like a hired killer whether he’s military or civilian .

this here.

i have to teach my kids repeatedly - when crossing the road, look left, look right, look up , look down look sideways - then do it all again because there is always the risk of one fking clown driving one way at high speed. what is even worse is that while most private vehcile owners have regard for children and will stop, commercial driver are mostly animals

What the man is doing is making it cool that soldiers are above the law; that soldiers can pass one-way because they fight to defend the nation’s sovereignty and ensure safety of lives and properties .

He’s wrong .

If Sanwoolu passes one-way and there’s evidence of it, let him call Sanwoolu out for it . Not him using the soldier being arrested for committing a crime to enable more soldiers to do same in the future .

Exactly why I've always insisted for long only ignorant people take the faux outrage and sanctimonious stances of these self-styled Twitter activists and good governance advocates seriously.

They are mostly in bed with their respective misgoverning state governments. I stated it yesterday, again. They don't give a tuppence about you, or the corruption, or those behind Mohbad's death... You are nothing more than higher engagement enablement and visibility to be cashed at the bank of opinion-shaping and talking points.

The real activists never position themselves to be activists, tag themselves as such, and try to shape and make every topical issue be about them. Large-sized neon 'Ls' for those who believed they were real.

So, in other words, the federal government is more democratic than most state governments given its allowance of relatively more freedom of speech and press freedom? This in itself weakens the almost onerous focus it gets.

"Let's keep attacking this snake which doesn't fight back swallowing our eggs, but, please ignore the other snakes even as they swallow our eggs; if you fight them, they'd come after us. "

The real question is, with have state governments get, what have they done with it?

The economy is factored by many things and indices. Yam,, potatoes, garri, and pepper are very cheap in the interiors of Benue and Cross River States. Transporting those food items involves a lot of risks which come with financial and security costs.
The roads to and from these interiors are bad and very insecure. Remind me, again: Who's in-charge of fixing intra-state roads and ensuring intra-state security primarily? Misters Governors, no?

And that's how cheap food end up in Port Harcourt, Ikeja, Uyo, Akwa, and the likes very costly. That's how incompetent state governors play a very significant role in wrecking the economy. Remember? Inflation has mostly been more complained about due to food item price hikes, which are in turn partly due to these factors.
The above is just one instance.

My point has and still is sharing blames and holding both the central and state governments to the same accountability demands. Excusing one while almost solely heaving the blames on the other would only continue to hurt us.

I'm not disputing your position. I quite agree with most of your takes but the policies that has immediate impact on the common man are the economy, security, good road network and stable power supply. All these fall on the FG's table. Fix these and all other things will fall in line. When you addresses these with holistic approach, the failure of any SG will be so glaring that nobody will have reasons to be on FG's throat.

You don't expect a common civil servant to have problem with the SG when his salary is being paid regularly but having to buy bread on 28 May 2023 for #250 and wake up the next day to have the same bread for #500. He knows whose policies effect such.

SGs are corrupt and lazy, I quite agree. Nothing wrong if will have higher focus on FG compare to SG.

Absolutely its wrong and she definitely breaks rule, but I guess AGF ain't stupid too? Someone requests you to credit a private account and you approved it. If its not a norm, she won't sanction it and would have raised Red Flag.

Also, if one follows the situation with open-mind, majority calling for her resignation or suspension on Twitter (X) by the way are from North. Reason is so simple, because of Halima that diverted ₦44B.

Personally, I wish Edu should follow footstep of Kemi Adeosun, but I am not sure she is gonna do that.

The link you posted reads like the defense of Stella odua during her saga.

We are told Betta Edu followed due process, but no one can share the policy document?

Private organizations regularly warn customers against using personal accounts of their employees, but the govt is different?

Paying official project funds into personal accounts is deliberate obsfucation of paper trails

It is what corrupt govt officials do when they say we should pay them the fine directly

There is no difference between Madam Betta Edu and your corrupt task force on lagos roads

Maybe her defender can explain how the plane ticket was billed, seeing as kogi does not have an airport

And as madam Edu works out of Abuja. I would have thought they would drive to kogi in a convoy, but what do I know?

1.No ministry keeps accounts with commercial banks anymore after the Nation adopted TSA (Treasury Single Account).

2.MDAs have their various accounts with the CBN.

3.The OAGF processes payments based on the mandates on the accounts and the mandates of the MDAs as approved. They do not audit. It is the Auditor General that audits and CBN disburses payment/funds.

4.Since there are no accounts of MDAs in commercial banks, payments will be made to corporate or civil servants individual accounts depending on the type of payments.

5.In the case of the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry, some of the beneficiaries of their services and interventions do not hold nor operate bank accounts.

(Please refer to the time the NASS members and some Northern Governors were trying to explain how and why the region is heavily under-banked. Recall also Mallan el-Rufai’s explanation of people’s plight in the wake of Meffy’s Naira confiscation that about 60% or more of Kaduna residents do not have any banks close to them and some have to travel for hours to get to any bank as all their transactions are cash based).

6.The beneficiaries of the ministry require cash payment in most situations, hence the cash must move from the government (CBN) to private accounts first for onward distribution or disbursement –, though not the best arrangement, but that is where the CBN, finance ministry, and banks need to work out a solution to stem the huge corruption that is possible under this process.

7.In the case of the N 44B, the government official needed the President’s ascent to release those funds but from what we have read and seen, this process or protocol was violated, because the President never approved the movement.

8.From verifiable document the Minister Got approval for the N500m+ the minister needs and got the President’s assent, which may just be fine.

9.Our country has birthed many tech solutions and I believe we can also look into this and come up with a solution.

10.Even as we work on the solution, let us remember that the country with the cheapest and most sophisticated IT solutions in the world – India, still disburses money solutions like this, in many instances.

The implication is that for the last 4 years govt officlals across board have been using personal accounts for govt business. Because this issue would apply to all the ministries

If this was actually the case there would have been
several reports of this anomaly in the media.

Different govt officlals would have been called out for this same issue.
