Away from the usual dixk measuring some food for thought. What if the Bantu expansion had not occurred as it did, leading to the spread of Bantu people across much of Africa? Africa would have been another Australia, another North America. Assuming the course of European history unravelled as we know it, the continent would have became another Atlanticist entity. God made the African Bantu speakers and their West/Central African siblings a naturally strong, dominant race. They were resistant to the old-world plagues that European settlers introduced around the world. In fact, it is this natural tenacity that led to their tragic mass-enslavement throughout the Americas and Asia. In contrast, people like the Hadza, the Khoi-Khoi or the San, who were in Africa before Bantus came to be, were bands of hunter-gatherers who would have been wiped out easily after colonization. They were no different to Australian or Tasmanian Aboriginals. Tasmanian Aboriginals are already wiped out due to European presence-not a single soul survived. If you fail to imagine how this would have happened, just take a look into South Africa's history. Boers (Dutch colonialists), upon their arrival in the Cape of good hope, did not immediately start colonizing the Bantu-dominated east. Instead, they chose to steal land from the Khoi-Khoi- who were severely depopulated at the wake of an European smallpox epidemic. The remaining Khoi tried to resist, but their social organization was irredeemably shattered due to contact with Europeans. They eventually became slaves to the Dutch on their own land i.e. were made to farm those lands. Others served the Boers in various other ways. One among these was Sarah Bartman. Many Khoi-San mixed with the Europeans and created the “coloured" community. Meanwhile, others fled and assimilated into neighbouring Bantu tribes like Xhosa and Tswana. Few fled to Namibia to join their remaining brethren - only to be crushed by the Germans. If you try to study the modern history of the Khoi, you may notice that what happened to them is basically the same thing that happened to American Indians in North and South America. I think the only difference between the two stories lies in the nitty-gritty details. The descendants of Khoi herders in Western Cape are a severely endangered race today. Only certain thousands of pure-blood Khoi remain. |

MPESA Africa is owned by Safaricom and Vodacom - they managed about 45 trillion KES in 2022. Their reporting and company operations are seperate from Safaricom. Safaricom which 33-35 trillion KES was from Kenya in 2022. Ghana can only dream about the scale of MPESA in KENYA. It now does 22-25B transactions annually. Visa does 4 times more. Just40: 1 Like |

rvp2018:Speaking about FX, my problem with Tinubu is that he and the central bank only focussed on unifying the many windows at the official rate into one and they seem to have ignored the black market. Black market must be unified with the official rate, that's what I want. But it seems that is harder because of the structural challenges that have long been there and most especially the illiquidity of FX compared to demand. In the past, under Buhari and Emiefele, in addition to the black market, we used to have about three different rates at the official window as well which made the whole FX market so confusing. Tinubu and the CBN have now succeeded in collapsing all windows at the official market into one rate but they are still struggling to tame the black market. The likes of Dangote and about 85 other firms benefited from some of these different special official rates that was subsidized for them, which is not really a bad idea in my opinion but just had to be done with due process. |
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018: 4:06pm On Jan 07 |
Agreed- Tinubu should devalue NAIRA until black market disappears. Just float Naira freely and remove all forex controls. It will find it base eventually. Anything else is postphoning problems. Disagree strongly on the nonsense of favouring Dangote - it beyond stupid - it immoral and it make you look like a mo.oron. All Nigerians should buy dollars at almost same rate. Dangote is not Nigeria state or federal gov to transfer benefits to you. Mumu GeneralDae: |

rvp2018:The problem with you and your likes is that you want to be more capitalist than the white man. Its stupidity not to support big businesses struggling with FX by subsidising FX for them especially the Dangote refinery which is 19 Billion dollars. That project would likely have packed up long ago given the difficult climate but for the subsidized forex. Always open your mind and use your brain when analysing issues like this. |

Support a private personal business? How about finish the Ajekuota steel mill instead. All private business - Dangote, local and foreign - should play same rules. You're mumu. Improve business enviroment for every nigeria - small, medium or large businnes - or you're creating a oligarchy - mega graft of transferring public property to private. GeneralDae: |

rvp2018:Mpesa did 35 trillion kshs transaction value from their operation in 6 African countries. In Kenya, they did only 109 billion dollars transaction value which came about from 65 billion of transaction from Kenyans doing P²p and the remaining 44 was through the banking sector..... So Kenya did almost half of Mpesa total transaction value, the remaining 5 countries did the rest. You can go and dispute your statistical service and central bank 2 Likes |

Nonsense thinking from broke Kenya, you guys are so broke such that the value of transactions in your country dropped this year, according to your central bank. https://twitter.com/georgenjoroge_/status/1743958053924553138 Nigeria- This video captured President Bola Tinubu's convoy passing through a market on Lagos Island, eliciting mixed reactions from residents and traders. On December 29, 2023, Tinubu, during his December holiday visit, passed through the popular Idumota market on Lagos Island. Residents and traders expressed their frustrations and dissatisfaction, shouting in Yoruba “Ebi npa wa o” meaning “We are hungry,” as his convoy drove by. This response was notably different from the usual energetic displays and excitement that presidential convoys often receive. The video, which surfaced on social media on December 30, 2023, showed President Tinubu's convoy navigating through the bustling lanes of the market. The convoy was described as comprising over 120 vehicles, including exotic SUVs like Range Rovers and Toyota Land Cruisers, as well as pickup trucks, ambulances, sedans, mini buses, and BRT buses. The convoy primarily consisted of VIPs, party members, and supporters, reflecting a significant show of opulence. However, the public's reaction highlighted their concerns about economic hardships and policy impacts under President Tinubu's administration, especially the end of the fuel subsidy regime and the resultant spiraling inflation and food price hikes |
