Osinbajo is not a civil servant/government appointee. He was voted into an elected position. I know Osinbajo is one of the major shareholders in MTN, but I don't think the rule that applies to these ministers & civil servants applies to governors, presidents and vice presidents.

No be me write Nigerian constitution, public service rule and Public procurement Act. What the law says is that public servants can only engage in farming. grin

This is false. He's not.

I doubt he even has any MTN shares

You said he's one of the major shareholders in MTN.

There's only been one from time and its been the same.

Even on the retail side, Osinbajo name doesnt even pop-up. There are some notable names there but definitely not Osinbajo.

And Yes, this is me speaking having seen their shareholding register

Where is the actual CCB disclosure which would contain more details. Pretty sure some miniscule shares prior to 2015 wouldnt count for major or significant shareholding today - which is what you said

As an aside, a lot of your stories dont check out. It's easier to just ignore since the overall motive of the story checks out

You always seem to know someone or have a friend who's experienced all kind of scenarios. - I'm sure you know what they say about people like that.

Ease off on the need to speak on everything. I only corrected what I'm pretty sure was wrong

But let's be realistic here. Is there any government official who is not a shareholder of one company or another? Should they all be forced to resign because the companies where they are shareholders get government contracts?

Osinbajo for instance is a major shareholder of a telco company. That telco company got a big contract from INEC last year. Should he have resigned too?

BlueRayDick:

The issue be say Tunji-Ojo no steal , but most likely had used his influence to get his company the contract from a ministry headed by his friend. It's neither here nor there. I learnt Barth Nnaji was in similar situation under Jonathan and he was forced to resign his appointment as minister. Being a shareholder of the company definitely poses a question of conflict of interest.

Las Las na Tinubu go decide his fate however he deems fit.

If Elumelu or Jim Ovia gets a ministerial appointment even though they have resigned from UBA and Zenith are we saying these banks cannot do business with govt again or even have govt accounts?

Same with the Gov of Zamfara who used to be ED at First Bank, Should the state stop any relationship with First Bank?

Or you think PwC wont be getting business from govt because Taiwo Oyedele is now Tax boss

The fact you don't see his name means nothing. Some of those names you see on the list of shareholders are SPVs and you may never know the actual people behind the SPV.

What we know is, Osinbajo was one of the pioneer shareholders of MTN. To the best of my knowledge, you don't even get invited to be a pioneer investor except you're buying something substantial. I think Dangote set his at $50m

He may not be a majority shareholder in the real sense of the word but he definetly has substantial holdings.

No he doesnt but let's just leave it at that. Also you can look at my other posts

He wasnt one of the pioneer sharehoders. To the best of my knowledge, It was more of Africa Capital Alliance that created the SPV that brought them in

You dey mind them, it is now they want to protest.
Tunji-Ojo hasn't really proved his innocence, cos he is the owner and a shareholder of the company, and i heard his wife the a Director in the Company. A thorough investigation should be done to ascertain whether he used his influence as Minister to help his company secure the contract, the senate and house of reps should do their own investigation too.
