I doubt you understand the roles of NNPC in the Nigeria oil industry. The corporation is not just about refinery. Refinery is just one of its several subsidiaries.

NNPC is a shareholder in Dangote refinery. The company owns 20% of the shares of Dangote refinery. So, they are not rivals but related entities.

Lol. Your knowledge of the industry is wack. NNPC being a government owned company operates both in the upstream and downstream sectors of the petroleum industry. They are involved in crude oil production and also refining of petroleum products through ownership and stake in refineries.

Dangote refinery on the other hand is only involved in the downstream sector of the industry. They only refine already produced crude oil to petroleum products. So, they can buy from NNPC or import from any other crude producer in the world.

Since crude oil is Dangote’s major raw material and NNPN, a shareholder in the company is producing the raw material locally, it makes more business sense for all parties to buy from NNPC even if it is at arms length transaction.
