That i am convinced of. Link up? Successful passes? Aerial duels? Successful dribbles? 1v1? Pressing? Urrggghhhh. I'm fed up.

Our biggest problem after the goal keeping is scoring goals. It's not even as our midfielders don't create chances. They create in abundance every game but scoring the goals is now the problem. And given the type of strikers we parade, this should not even be happening. While our lack of goals have made us to see the visible cracks in the team, it's also a source of concern that we can't score. This is not even a coaching problem. All our matches starting from Saudi, Zimbabwe and Lesotho were easily winnable matches if only we converted even a quarter of the chances.

This is one of those games where you can't blame the coach... We played well.. the team set up was alright. What we lacked was the finishing... Osimhen and Zaidu were the biggest culprit...

Can we beat CIV? I think we can... They aren't that special..

I hope Alhassan is okay... Man was immense today..

Well ... that was tongue

I'm really conflicted as to how to critique this match because we had far more chances two of which should clearly have been put away but here we are. I know it sounds funny but one poster mentioned how JP has a losing aura around him if I didn't know better I would almost believe. Today's performance had comfortable 2-3 nil victory written over it but again here we are.

Opponents scored from their only reasonable attack yet us with at least 5 clear chances could only bury one nawa o.

Good and solid performance from the goalkeeper and Yusuf. Yusuf really impressed me pray his knock isn't bad cos we need warriors in that midfield.

Sad that Osimhen is the only leader in that setup so Simon and Iwobi can't come to the teams rescue everytime Victor? hian!

Is Ivory Coast beatable? Definitely but our coach even if he had a clue na bad luck.

Rant aside will continue to be behind the team to the bitter end cos that's what being a supporter is all about present in the bad days not only showing up when things are going well.

One more rant our midfield don suffer sha dragging 50% ball possession with E. Guinea? smh.

our midfielders don’t create chances and the only one to do that wasn’t invited

The chances missed in that game was created by our goal keeper 🥱

Aside midfield and defense, the wing is abother area that needs fresh additions..
Simon and Chukwueze are aa inconsistent as NEPA.... I was surprised Jpes didn't bring in Musa today...

Playing against civ with their huge home crowd will be another pressure for these guys, I hope they can cope. The goal of the next match should be not to loose. The Ivorians are very physical and it portends more injuries for our players.

If they don’t loose the next match there might be some hope
These team does not have the character to chin up and get the job done

The bold is what honestly pisses me off about today's match. Was a win all day. Osimhen's miss was shocking cos he buries those exact of chances for Napoli with his eyes closed. Zaidu really messed up today not burying his chances was also slightly to blame for not picking up the number six of E Guinea for the opening goal.

Shall we disband the team and play another sport instead?
Certainly not but I'm at a loss as to what the problem is. Our brand has depleted.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by daveP(m): 6:29pm On Jan 14
Osimhen should have buried this game for us. He was provided with the chances that we've always screamed about the lack and that's the fact. The other problem now is he is the main threat, as should be. Where were the other goal threats so far. How come they had same number of chances as that Zaidu that fluffed the 2nd clearest chance of this game? Just 1 each. That's problematic for me. I really pray Nacho gets back here. Lookman was delivering prior to the 1st Cooling break. Then the tempo died. I personally want to believe Jpes said something that changed the approach before the break. Iwobi dropped deep but was still connecting just fine with Osimhen.

Jpes needs to set up a midfield that will make it so so easy for Iwobi to function closer to goal. Iwobi also needs to do the needful as well. What's with the display in 1st half? That CB pairing is terrible. I missed Bassey.

Is normal now that's their coping mechanism. Victor was bad with his misses today but at least he stepped up to get us back in the game to 1-1. Where's everybody else to show character and step up when it matters most? So SE is officially Osimhen and Inshallah FC?

I say this again. We set up Iwobi to play the deep lying midfield role which he clearly struggles to do for long periods. Nwakali, who could be the best African player with this specific skillset is left at home because he earns $5 per month? Someone make it make sense to me. It's not adding up

Technically with ball to feet Osimhen is poor. This shouldn't breaking news to anyone that has watched him play even one game. He is not a Berbatov, João Felix, etc

What makes him one of the best is the combination of his ridiculous work rate, pace, pressing, aerial ability and just hustling. These create goal scoring chances in every game. However, his finishing is average (neither great nor poor). He's most definitely not a Lewandoski, Kane, Benzema or Haaland etc.

He will miss more chances than he scores. He always has...
Any striker can miss but to miss when your team needs it or to score when when your team needs it is what separates the greats from the rank and file

Succinctly put,ma G. His technical abilities are average but he makes up for it in other areas
Osimhen has poor technical ability. Easy way to tell, he hardly scores curlers. From that position he missed that pass, Mbappe or Iheanacho will curl the ball into the other side of the net
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Barryseal: 6:37pm On Jan 14
Victor Osimhen is not the finished product yet. He needs to practice yoga or something to calm his spirit. He's too rash and hurried, this explains alot of short coming in his game.
He should watch Eto'o or Harry kane tapes to help him. He can't keep relying on scoring headers. Someone tell him a gentle chip or placement could do the magic sometimes.

When Dudes are empty of who next to blame, then they just blame something. LOL!

CBs pairing is terrible, yet EG could only boast of a shot on target. LOL!

Ekong cleared anything came his way and Semi handled the ball playing well.

I would be shocked if we beat CIV. Even if we lose, we just have to win against Guinea Bissau and we should be good. Remember best 3 qualifiers would still make it through and 4pts would be almost enough to guarantee that.

Simon was our poorest player today didn't bring much to the table. Onyeka played like somebody unsure of the his role but Zaidu fall my hand badly honestly 2 good opportunities to score wasted c'mon.

Yusuf was great fantastic work rate. Love to see his combination with Ndidi in the immediate future after the tournament?

Papi85:
Al Hass did well but our midfield became more creative with Aribo’s inclusion

My worst players were Simon, Onyeka and zaidu

I pray Al Hass injury won’t keep him out for our next game

Took an injured Ndidi to give an opportunity to Alhassan in a team short of men in the midfield. What a joke this Peseiro is.
