Honestey: El-Rufai's committee did not operate in a vacuum. Neither did it start its work from Year Zero (apologies Pol Pot). It actually studied the 2014 Confab report as part of its deliberations. The El-Rufai committee was saddled with a lofty responsibility to distill the actual intent and definition of true federalism as promised by the APC during their 2015 electioneering campaign and to study the reports of the various National Conferences, especially that of 2014 and thus come up with recommendations on restructuring the country.Source: https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/restructuring-12-unforgettable-points-of-the-el-rufai-report-rotting-away-in-apcs-cupboard |

Like just to make it look like they mean business. Which one be nigerians in their area of influence will have a sense of belonging? What does that even mean sef if taken in any serious context? |

ogaontop: There are clear provisions for amending the constitution, the confab is found nowhere in those provisions. As such it has as much legal effect as El Rufai's committee. The constitution reserves changes in its content to duly elected representatives of the Nigerian people and not appointed representatives irrespective of how well meaning those appointments are. That being said, attention and focus should shift to the NASS where the real work will be done. Let us hope that all our national representatives will put aside party issues and help to restore our truncated federal structure. |

Nonsense. These people know what's needed but keep beating about the bush and living in denial How can you impose a myopic report of a single political party on the country instead the confab report agreed to by delegates from all the geopolitical regions ?A Any report not formulated by all the regions is a nullity. The best action is to reactivate the independent constitutions agreed to by the country's founding fathers - regional system of government but this time with seccession clause. |

GanagiBitrus: Some we struggle initially but they will all be fine after some years. A lot of governors are useless and they only wait for month end to collect allocation. Those states especially the ones in the north that willn't be able to survive should merge with other states. What is the usefulness of 36 states when some of them are very useless and not productive? 1 Like |

Yes sir , the CONFAB WILL BE WAY BETTER THAN THIS ONE, d Enemy of the TRUTH SAT OVER ! EVERY ETHNC group in Nigeria congregated to work on that report and agenda,it should never be thrown away ,though the the original convener was so so weak and drunk that he couldn't kick start his own brain child software.plenty circumstansia leaders in this nigeria.we are cursed with Evil leadership. Re: APC Mulls Implementation Of El-rufai C’ttee’s Report On True Federalism by benardtotti(m): 8:36am On Jan 15 |
richiemcgold: Stop arguing blindly , the confab wasn't constitutional as govt selected members rather than allowing each local govt area select who will rep them that already was a loophole and that was one of the reasons even Gej didn't present it as he knew it won't fly , Apc being a smart party made the review a party affair so that was whatever recommendations they came up with can be presented formally as a document from either the president or even the senate president as a Bill, apc have the majority and therefore it will be accepted and now processed formally . Next time try and do a research on issues and how democratic system of g0vt works. |

benardtotti: You're the one arguing blindly; repeating the same wrong argument over and over again. APC is not the only political party in Nigeria. Your party can't impose your so-called report on Nigeria without carrying everybody along. BTW, a novice like you can't be telling me how democracy works. What do you know |
Re: APC Mulls Implementation Of El-rufai C’ttee’s Report On True Federalism by benardtotti(m): 9:17am On Jan 15 |
richiemcgold: You just proved how daft you are with this statement 🤣, enjoy your ignorance, don't worry when apc presents any bill at the assembly go there and tell them they didn't carry the minority along , they say " majority carries the vote " but your dumb self thinks otherwise. Ignorance is indeed bliss . |
Re: APC Mulls Implementation Of El-rufai C’ttee’s Report On True Federalism by TopBanter: 9:18am On Jan 15 |
DMerciful: Even what is universally agreed as a solution petty and ethnocentric people like you must argue about because you see individuals ( GEJ not Tinubu) rather than ideas i.e the implementation of comprehensive restructuring asap regardless of what or whose submission is used to achieve it. It is as if attachment to clan, ethnicity, religion or sectional affiliation blind you to what is obvious which is that solutions, that stops Nigeria failing, must be brought in ASAP. If APC wish to use the El Rufai committee submissions then so be it. A progressive person knows that APC are in power and want to be perceived as providers of solutions. Natural they will not want to do PDP any favours. They will use El Rufai's committee finding to claim glory but that should not bother any progressive Nigerian because they are simply seeking solutions and are not politicians quibbling over political bragging rights. Really tiring sharing a nation with your sort. 2 Likes |

benardtotti: You see your life. So APC will present a report to the national assembly and they will just pass it like that without any input from the people. Is that how constitution amendments work? Permit me to say it again that you know nothing. Olodo! |
Re: APC Mulls Implementation Of El-rufai C’ttee’s Report On True Federalism by benardtotti(m): 9:26am On Jan 15 |
richiemcgold: You are indeed daft , last administration apc presented constitution review and it was handled until it was passed to the 36 states assembly to also endorse , that was where it stalled , it did not stall at the national assembly cos apc had a majority vote. Try and study to show yourself approved as the Holy book will say. |
