Francis Nwifuru: PDP, APGA Guber Candidates Not Needed In My Government by GuruboiNaija: 7:04am On Jan 15
Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru, on Sunday, said that the governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, and that of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Benard Odoh who dragged him to court after the 2023 general election, are not needed in his administration.

Nwifuru made this known while addressing stakeholders and Ebonyians who trooped out to celebrate with him (Nwifuru) at the new Exco-chambers, government house, centenary city, Abakaliki.

Governor Nwifuru, who narrated his encounter with Odii and Odoh after the last 2023 general election, said that he was deceived by Odii, even when he (Odii) has accepted his plea to discontinue from taking the case to the Supreme Court.

According to him: “The two gentlemen- Odii, Odoh and I were born the same year, contested the same election in 2023.

“We became famous the same year. And we contested for the same governorship position. I approached each of them that couldn’t make it to be the governor.

All of us have good manifestos, showing that our interest is to serve our people. If our interest is to serve, then we should come together and serve our people.

“Our interest shouldn’t be who to go to court to pervert or buy judgement, but the Supreme Court has proved them wrong, showing that justice is not for sale.

“I travelled to meet with Odii at his office in Lagos State; we agreed that he is going to withdraw the case; at the end of the day, the next morning I was served. And when I called him, he kept turning me up and down.

“Sincerely, I’m highly disturbed because he is a young man that is still growing. I called Odoh, and he told me that we are fighting for the Abakaliki zone.

“Two of them were the first people that I called after winning the election. Both of them never congratulated me. They took me to the court, and it is not that the election was rigged. I won the election, free and fair.

“People said that I should extend the hand of fellowship to them- for what will I do that?

“They have gone to the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court has ruled in my favour, against their wish. They have experience but the experience of Ebonyians superseded their own; they should hold their experience, I don’t need it.”

“Odii is agreeing to the judgment because he knows that there is no other place to go after the Supreme Court.

“He wants his supporters to support me, they should not because I don’t need them. Let me serve those who worked for me first,” he declared.

Petty AF.

He is taking victory and giving no quarter.

Plays like a script from Wike's handbook.

“I travelled to meet with Odii at his office in Lagos State; we agreed that he is going to withdraw the case; at the end of the day, the next morning I was served. And when I called him, he kept turning me up and down.

This one is cold. Very cold and the response the governor is giving is payback sha

On a more serious note. Sincerely, our governor needs a lecture on 'Differentiating personal business from public service'.
He commendably alluded to the fact that they have experience, followership and that they all are peers. But this is Ebonyi state, a project in which everyone in the state has a stake. He needs to remember that in politics, his best supporters today can decamp tomorrow and those who oppose him today can be a useful tool for him tomorrow. To stay relevant in politics, you always need the number.

This governor is not matured, and what he said is undiplomatic. Politically, you ought not to say that to the press.

He should invite his political opponents to join his government, but if they agree, which in this case it seems unrealistic, he covertly refuse to meet them.

Very naive response. Naija politicians no get joy. Instead of him to say "e no go gree for anybody", he is beating around the bush 😁. That's why it's difficult to move on in governance. Assuming this guy loose the next election in 2027 to one of them, all his projects and hype during his tenure will be condemned, castigated, painted black and rejected. Then this will deter development of the people. Politics of bitterness. It's their right and money to go to supreme court if they see anything not right. If they have money to waste, so be it.
No one told the Kano man to sit up after destroying gandollar legacies in the name of flimsy excuses, when it looked that he would loose his seat.
Oga ebonyi need more maturity, no need to pick up unnecessary fight sir.

Seems he's new to politics. An experienced politician will never say this. No permanent friend or foe in politics.

He actually got it wrong because a good politician will not say all those things openly even if he's not going to work with them.

He will be needing some of them in the next 3 years and he will be the one doing the beggings again

This one and Buhari get the same mindset, he wants to give them the 5% treatment Buhari gave the Igbos.

When will politicians learn that public service and private businesses are not same, everybody must not vote and campaign for you. You must have opponent in every elective post and after you win work for all, show them reasons they should've voted in the first place, make them see you're the best amongst all. Even if you don't want to work with them must you say it publicly?
