So if he plans to use the car another 5 years and he covers 2000 miles monthly, he should rather use 2.8m to fuel the car yearly and 14.4m in 5 years because the value of the car is 1m.

You know he covers 2000 miles monthly

You know he will spend exactly 2.8m on fuelling the car yearly

You also know that he plans to use the car for another 5 years

I am sure you also know that the price of CNG will remain constant for the 5 years you are so sure of

You also know that there is CNG in his location and everywhere along whatever road he will doing your 2000 miles per year...

You also know that his insurance company won't revoke his plan or increase his premium because of the uncharted risks associated with CNG conversion

You also know that for the 5 year period you are so sure of, the CNG conversion parts won't need any replacement or servicing, whose cost is relative to the hefty conversion fee.

You actually know a lot more than you have a capacity to comprehend

You are not wise.

CNG conversion is not for everyone. It's common sense that only those who cover thousands of miles a month and who plan to keep their cars for long consider the conversion to make up the cost.

Someone who does 1500 miles a year will not be asking if to bring his car for conversion.

As for the other nonsense you wrote, there's no guarantee the price of petrol will not increase as well.

Insurance companies have no business with how you fuel your car. They send you a reminder at the expiration of your insurance, you pay and they renew it. You will know this if you've ever paid for insurance in your life.

Insurance companies have no business with modifications of the fuel source of a vehicle they insured ?.. A modification that might increase or reduce the risk of a fire to the vehicle they insured?... If it was insured whiile unmodified, then it's subsequently CNG modified and catches fire, no insurance company will indemnify when it was not informed of the modification beforehand and agreed to it and set out a new insurance contract for it, either by way of increased premium or whatever...

In any case, it's clearly beer parlor "common sense" that made you say that it's only people who clock a certain mileage per year are the ones converting to CNG... This kind of "common sense" can only be gotten from statistics generated from ingesting cheap kaikai..

Is it that u interviewed all persons who have converted their cars to CNG, and they told you that they all do thousands of miles monthly?.. Even the op who is the chief proponent of CNG, has never made such an outrageous claim..

As in, for me to want to pay less for fuel in the long run, I have to be doing thousands of miles monthly like a public transport driver?.. Whatever it is that you are smoking, you really need to stay off it for your own good.

Let's do some basic calculations .

Most average vehicle users in Lagos and abuja spend ₦200,000 monthly on petrol. ₦50k per week.

Kindly digest this information slowly.

In 10months of vehicle use ₦2m would have been spent on fueling a vehicle .

Let's assume ₦1m for conversion. In 5months
you would have paid for the conversion.

Now CNG will provide 70per savings in most vehicles (₦1,400,000). Your new expenditure on fueling ( now CNG ) will be and average of ₦600,000 in 10months , and ₦60,000 per month and ₦8,500 per week.

You can use the extra ₦400,000 saved for a profitable venture.

Please before you quote me negatively, ensure you own and use a car in Nigeria, and have a calculator handy.

Please on what existing statistics did you base your conclusion that on the average, drivers in Lagos and Abuja spend 200k per month on fuel?.. How many people in those cities earn 200k per month wey dem go spend 200k on fuel?..

Minimum wage in this country is 30k, yet you assume that drivers in such a country spend 200k on fuel per month grin...what percentage of Nigerians even earn 200k or more in the entire Nigeria?.. This same country where many reputable organizations have done their research and found that two-third of the Nigerian Population live on less than 2 dollars per day, na im u dey day dem dey spend around 50 dollars per week on fuel? grin

And this one wey you dey mention Lagos and Abuja, is it that Nigeria is now limited to those areas?..

And if one fills with CNG in your Lagos or Abuja, can one find another refill point within a distance of 500km of those cities?... Abi that your 50k fuel per week must all be used within the radius of the few CNG stations in those cities you mentioned?..

Long story short... Your figures are grossly over-inflated and do not represent the true Nigerian economic situation on ground.. Sell your market if you must, but do not manufacture figures not based on any existing Statistic..

Neither have you given any practical situation where one can make such humongous savings as you have alleged on CNG by driving within the radius of the very few CNG refill stations available in the country..

Neither have u addressed my point on the cost of replacement parts of the CNG system if they go bad.. Or do you give a lifetime warranty for those parts when you install them?... You keep on counting savings on cng without taking into consideration the possibility that those CNG parts may go bad and require replacement.. Or they might over time, even spoil other parts of the vehicle they are installed in? No be moni d pesin go spend to replace all those ones?..

That's even aside the possibility of government waking up one morning and increasing the price of CNG... In that event, where does that keep your cng savings permutations?

Abi we shouldn't talk about that so that you can sell your market?

The picture you just painted is a best case scenario. There are a lot of loopholes but i will point out just one. Given the fact that refill stations in a city are very far from each other, using CNG exclusively every month for 12 months is not practical.

You don't need to calculate it by yourself since there are a lot of online calculators. I usually use https://oneconvert.com/unit-converters/length-converter/miles-to-km to convert speed units meters or something. So you it can be in handy for ya.

Hi gazzzuz thanks for all you do on this forum, I have been thinking of how to get my sienna on CNG train because of the space I don't want to loose, I did some research and found this tank that can be placed in the spare tire space! This will work perfectly for me! But I doubt if it will be available in Nigeria. I am attaching the images for more clarity

The pics you have up there are for LPG systems, not CNG . I had same issues when I wanted to convert my sienna . I didn't want to touch the space in the rear that enabled me to flatten the rear seats. So I opted for a 55L water capacity cylinder in-between driver and passenger seat. I will still expand my system with smaller 25L tanks under the vehicle as there are pockets of unused space waiting to be used.

some fearful folks might be scared that an explosion would take out both driver and passenger, since the cylinder is right between them. some would still prefer to opt for the rear or boot

Enlightenment is key.

A lot of commercial busses have been like this since 2009.

My installation will be covered to look like an armrest.

Tanks can stay under the car, if you use smaller 29-30L tanks . One of these days I'll run a test.
