Lekiboboe:

The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) in Canada is a significant factor for international students when choosing a school. Here are some reasons why international students may avoid schools in Canada that don't offer PGWP:

1. **Work Opportunities:** The PGWP allows international students to work in Canada after completing their studies. Institutions not offering PGWP is less attractive as students value the opportunity to gain Canadian work experience.

2. **Canadian Experience:** Many students see the PGWP as a pathway to gain Canadian work experience, which can be crucial for those considering applying for permanent residency or exploring long-term career opportunities in Canada.

3. **Post-Study Settlement:** PGWP facilitates the transition from studying to working and potentially obtaining permanent residency. Students often prefer institutions that support this process.

4. **Economic Considerations:** Having the ability to work in Canada post-graduation can help international students offset their living expenses and contribute to their financial well-being.

5. **Competitive Advantage:** Graduates with Canadian work experience have a competitive edge in the job market. Institutions offering PGWP are more appealing to students who prioritize gaining a foothold in the Canadian workforce.

6. **Long-Term Plans:** Students planning to stay in Canada long-term may be deterred from institutions that don't offer PGWP, as it aligns with their aspirations for settling in the country.

7. **Networking Opportunities:** Access to the Canadian job market during the PGWP period provides students with valuable networking opportunities, which can be crucial for career advancement.

8. **Enhanced Educational Experience:** Students may view PGWP as an extension of their educational experience, enabling them to apply their skills and knowledge in a real-world setting.

In a nutshell, it's advisable for an international student to always go for a school that offers PGWP

Thanks

Heffalump:
Wifey and two young kids already secured Study permit in Canada. The other two old kids (ages 10 and 12) are with me in Nigeria. The plan is to allow the 10 years old to join mum later in Canada for her studies. Two options are available for me when I intend to apply for visitor visa:

1. Apply for visitor visa for myself and the 12 yrs, while the 10yrs go on study visa.

2. Apply for visitor visa for myself and the rest of the other children (12yrs and 10yrs). Then while in Canada, the 10yrs converts her visitor visa to study visa. The 12yrs will certainly be with me in Nigeria for now.

I have been really disturbed on the best option to take. I need gurus to help out please. @Lekiboboe, @Frankrbbn1 please advice. I know this is like your bread and butter grin
Any good advise is welcomed.
Thanks All.
Option 2 is better, you will not need to show the POF for tuition when applying for the kids. VV for them and you will be okay when you get there you can request for SP.

Reconsideration 99% don't work but no harm trying. It takes 10 working days for an application to be reconsidered. If you don't get a response within that period reapply.

idirect:

I want to agree with you that the SOP is bad. What's your comment on technicalities involve with her admission now please? The school approved her request to defer but they informed her that the certificate program (one year) has been discontinued and they only offer it in diploma now (2 years). She accepted the offer and waited for her visa decision which was eventually not approved.
Do you think it's best we write a reconsideration letter and include a justification for why she needed the program or she should submit another visa application with the diploma offer?
Thank you

Are you in a post-graduate or post-secondary diploma?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by charlesoz19: 5:46pm On Jan 16
your view is wrong. I'm telling you from experience that she can switch careers 10 thousand times as long as she has a legitimate reason to do so. I was refused 3 times before getting an approval. you can check my timeline. Please understand also that each application is treated on n merit not due to previous reasons. I have talked to people here who did not apply for anything related to what they study and they are here studying. You can decide to switch career because you feel the Job you doing now is worth improving through education. you can switch careers and then return to your previous career because you feel you have to return to your previous passion and build it again. we all have different reasons for career switch. Just present it in a way that reveals your true intention. The VO always use the word convenience because what you want is possible but he just doesn't believe it's your true intention. So convenience him and you will get it. Nigeria's education cant be compared to Canada education at the same time you can't present Nigeria's education as cabbage, you just say why you see the need to study in a developed nation where education is a top priority. Do your research and you will understand my view.

Predator188:

But is your circumstances and the applicant circumstances same the VO claimed that the purpose of study is not consistent ...the applicant switched careers twice though the course the applicant intend to study in Canada is not stated on GCMS may have intended to pursue different career again...and ircc also give priority to study permit applications based on programme of study especially those in Health care and technology where there's in-demand occupation in canada they obviously knows what they are doing..including previous study from developed countries like UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ and πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ usa etc they give priority to these applicants...that does not mean that you won't meet eligibility requirements..they treat each application differently...
If I may ask what is your program of study in Canada in which visa was approved...?
Like I said earlier next VO will refer to the previous refusal if no advancement they may flag again...

I've checked your SOP you posted which you said is yours ..since you said I should check your time ..
You said your education is in pure chemistry Bsc...worked as a laboratory chemist in your country...
Pursuing a higher education in the field of chemical laboratory technician from Canada...
Durham college in Canada...
There is no career change..so you can't compare your application with the other applicant...
The bottom-line is that you compared your application with the other applicant that's the point
And NB I didn't state you can't change career in my post ..
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by charlesoz19: 8:58pm On Jan 16
To make it clear
I graduated in 2018 BSC
worked since 2014 in the same course at the highest stage. Laboratory Chemist.
Now I'm studying for a high school diploma not a post graduate diploma
I'm over qualified for a masters due to result and experience.
Read one of my GCMS notes again and you will understand that myself and this person has all in common
The VO saw no reason for me to be in this program because I have the result and experience
Now I am here for same program
This is my own experience.
There are experiences worse than this here, where people switch career completely

Well I only made a point its not important anyone takes it and I will only contribute to questions I have real-time experience with.
I won't engage in further explanation on this.

Hi did you apply from England?

Landing gist!!!
Live in Ontario !!!
To God be the glory, though the experience has been like a cat's peaceful slumber. Traveling with a family of five from England to Canada is no easy feat. We arrived in Ontario on January 12, facing a lengthy immigration queue at Toronto Pearson YYZ Airport due to limited officers.

In the queue, a kind individual noticed we had kids and assisted my wife, triggering a barrage of questions about our family, her academic history, and our plans for the kids' school enrollment. They even requested documents like the kids' previous school records, medical reports, and our marriage certificate. Eventually, they asked to see proof of funds on my wife's mobile app, fortunately, we had sufficient funds.

Lesson learned: always be prepared with ample funds, despite assurances that they won't ask for proof at the airport. Prepare for the unexpected.

Best wishes to all, and if you're a student at Caandore College in Brampton, feel free to reach out.

All the best to all the ppr waiters!!![/quote]

The school I applied to is asking me for my transcript. I'm only giving the option of uploading it.

And the only option I have right now is for my school to send it to them directly because there is no way I can get hold of it.

How am I going to go about it please?

Go to your school. Let them know about the matter on ground, they will send your transcript on your behalf.

Simple.
Thanks boss

But, will I have to call the school in Canada first and tell them about it?

Please guys I'm stuck, I'm for May entry and I have been building my account since November, its a family of 3 application, my husband I have a joint fixed deposit account with 17m, and I have 20m in my account, lump sum explained...my problem is that can I submit my application wen my account is not up to 4month, or should i add my dad has a Co sponsor with his own account statement for 6months and send my own 2month + account too with the fixed deposit or I should just wait for the 4month.. ps I have done upfront medical...please I'm confused
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by JMG12: 9:34am On Jan 17
A 2-month account statement doesn't meet the requirement, at least 4 months is required. I have concerns about the amount you want to show for a family of 3, that amount might be insufficient. What is the duration of your program?

It's a 2 years program and I have paid full payment for 1year school fees...what if I add my dad as a Co sponsor, it still cannot fly as 2month account statement right

Hello everyone,
I appreciate the effort you all put in here for the benefit of us all. I've been a silent reader here for a very long time and now that I've gathered lots of information, I'd like to start my journey.
Please, I have a couple of questions to ask.
1. Which is the best to go for in Canada, Masters, Post Graduate Diploma or post Graduate Certificate?
2. What is the difference between Post Graduate Diploma and Post Graduate Certificate?

Thank you so much!
