Still don’t know why Mercy Chinyere Kalu 2005-10-23(18 -YRS-OLD) hasn’t been playing for the SuperFalconets of recent.. She has been getting the call up but haven’t seen her name on the team Stating 11 or Sub.

Anyway she really need to work more and keep up the momentum so she can work her way into the SuperFalcons even though that position is stacked, not just that but with young talents as well..

No Oshoala. They are supposed to know the full story. To have a season like she did all the while being injured and have it overlooked by the very people who should know better is unforgivable.

Much respect to the Australian coach who went all Aussies in his voting.

A Remarkable Insight into the Super Falcons’ Coaching Dynamics: Kyle Quigley Reflects on the 2024 United Soccer Coaches Convention Experience

January 16, 2024 Oluchi Tobe-Chukwu

In the aftermath of the highly anticipated 2024 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Anaheim, California, Tobexmedia.com caught up with Kyle Quigley, the Performance and Fitness Trainer for the Super Falcons of Nigeria during the FIFA Senior women’s cup in Australia.

The convention, a gathering of soccer coaches and administrators from all levels, proved to be a unique platform for sharing knowledge and experiences.
Quigley, who had the opportunity with coach Randy Waldrum to showcase a prototype of the techniques employed with the Super Falcons in Australia, with a set of a local based players in the US.
Kyle shared his thoughts on the remarkable experience ,he highlighted the diverse crowd of over 14,000 attendees, with a predominant focus on women’s coaches and professionals in the women’s game.

He said; “the atmosphere at the convention was great. There were over 14,000 people in attendance, a mix of college football and professionals of the game in America.”

The convention received widespread acclaim, with Quigley noting its positive reception in America.
A standout moment at the convention according to Coach Kyle was when he and Randy Waldrum, the Super Falcons Head Coach, used a local U.S. team to recreate tactics employed by the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Quigley expressed satisfaction with the demonstration, emphasizing the enthusiasm and receptiveness of the young players.

“The tactics was greatly received on the field,” Kyle said. “The girls used for demonstration of the tactics were between 13 to 14 years of age, but they were very receptive to what we were trying to show them,” he continued.

According to him, the session drew a considerable audience as they both received commendations and gratitude for their insights.

When asked about the impact of the Super Falcons’ performance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand on a personal level, Quigley noted a transformative shift in his outlook He opined; “Like I have said to you previously, this is the first time I worked in women’s football, because I’ve always worked in the professional game with men, both playing and coaching. So, coaching this team has changed my outlook completely.”

According to him, working with the team has elevated his understanding of women’s football, taking him to a different level both professionally and personally. Despite being one of the top 10 teams at the World Cup, Quigley sees immense potential for the Super Falcons with increased support.

Describing his working relationship with Randy Waldrum, Kyle Quigley highlighted their close bond and effective communication. He said; “the working relationship with Randy Waldrum is probably the closest I’ve ever had in football.”

Speaking further, he said; “Randy is one of the nicest person I’ve ever met. As you can see in his social meetings and his press conferences, his level of communication is just on a different level. He never raises his voice, he never lowers his voice. He’s got a really good communication level.”

He continued, “We get on so well, we share ideas, and if I don’t agree with something Randy says, I tell him, if he doesn’t agree with what I say, he tells me.”

“The working relationship, I believe will last, not just with the super falcons, but outside the super falcons. We are that close,” he added.

Waldrum’s reputation as a soccer luminary did not overshadow his down-to-earth nature, fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Quigley emphasized the lasting nature of their relationship, transcending beyond the Super Falcons. The dedication, mutual respect, and shared ideas create a synergy that Quigley believes will endure for many years.

In essence, Kyle Quigley’s reflections provide a captivating glimpse into the world of the Super Falcons coaching staff and their commitment to elevating women’s football on the global stage. The convention not only served as a platform for tactical demonstrations but also fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation for the beautiful game.

Peace Effih ‘Happy’ With Braga’s 3-1 Win Over Torreense

Peace Effih played a pivotal role as SC Braga defeated Torreense 3-1 in the Portuguese Women’s League.

The game played at the Estadio Primero De Miao Braga saw the Super Falcons Midfielder showing exceptional skills all through the encounter.

Caroline Kehrer scored a brace in the 9th and 24th minute, before Caroline Mendez made it three in the 90th minute. Braga are in third position on the log of the Portuguese with 25 points, trailing Sporting Lisbon and Benfica by a point and three points respectively.

2016 was held in Cameroon. Nigeria won. Asisat Oshoala was highest goalscorer and second best player. Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene was best player. There was a massive crowd at the final (Nigeria vs Cameroon). Gaelle Enganamouit was rushed back from injury for the tournament. That was the year that Desire Oparanozie scored that stunning freekick goal against South Africa.

2012 was held in Equatorial Guinea and they also won it. That was the era of Genoveva Anonman Nze, the Simpore Sisters (or brothers), etc.

2008 was also held in Equatorial Guinea and they also won it. The Equato-Guineans had a habit of taking players from other countries, so there were Nigerians, Brazilians, etc in their team. Some of their opponents complained that some of their players were actually men.

2004 was the wrestling final. The Cameroonians came to fight wrestling, not play football, but Nigeria won with a hat-trick from Perpetua Nkwocha and a goal by Vera Okolo.

WAFCON is always played in October/November.

Thanks for breaking this down
Prior to 2018 tournament, I wasn’t regularly following the Falcons
Although I’ve been watch a couple of games since USA 1999 with Mercy Akide etc
Watched only all the games in tournaments they’ve participated in since 2018
Someone here sarcastically threw jabs at me but you patiently wrote down facts
I thought North Africans usually prefer to host tournaments summer (end of season) periods. That’s why I was somewhat confused.
Plus I often don’t remember the womens game and history like the super eagles

I think there are two reasons for the controversy.

1) CAF insists that the Nations Cup will hold this year, but they still haven't provided an exact date for it. A lot of people, including journalists, want to make plans and that's difficult when you don't know the exact dates. CAF would usually have released the dates by now.

2) The men's Nations Cup is usually held in January and February, while the women's Nations Cup is usually held in November (because of the Rainy Season- Dry Season in Africa). However, European clubs often complain that they lose the services of African players during this period, so CAF did an experiment and moved both tournaments to the European Summer. It didn't work, so we are now back to the traditional times.

It worked in AFCON 2019
Mens tournament was hosted in Egypt during the summer
It also depends on which country will host & their weather conditions

There are other issues involved (as has been already stated). FIFA & Europe usually have their tournaments in the Northern Summer and Africa and Asia staging their tournaments at this time will avoid clashes.

Here is the issue.

CAF insists that WAFCON will hold this year. However, European clubs are trying to block the date that CAF proposed. So no specific date has been given.

It’s a matter of CAF looking for a more suitable Month, Date and time for the WAFCON as this is the FIFA Window for Women Football 2024…

What’s WAFCON without the top Quality Foreign Based Players…

I really pray for a fully fit, complete squad for wafcon. Most especially that midfield. We need to wrest that aspect away from SA. I also pray we get a proper 9 going forward.

I also pray we get our setpieces aspect up and running. The pk were so bad we don't even want to talk about it since then.

Her stature is the main issue. She gets bullied off the football often. She and Flourish need that small muscle.

That 9 is very important. We need a striker! Thank God we now have a solid midfield. The like of Umeh, Elisha and Edna should be called up and assessed in friendly matches to determine if they fit in (they will surely). Otu and Mbadi should be given chances too... I'm scared of Ayinde's injury issues lately.

I don’t think her stature will pose any effect on her game, She’s very strong and physically Capable with what have seen her play in the NWPL for Edo Queens and Remo Stars of recent, what amazes me most is her link up play. Her ability to drop into the midfield and drag defenders alongside with her decent for her age, if she can go to a good University in the 🇺🇸 or Laliga Academy or even Barcelona team B this girl will reach her potential..
