Before Decree 34 it was not his Business whose funeral the Premier of the Northern Region attended

And again Decree 34 only unified federal service and did not in anyway abolished the 4 regions.The 4 region was intact when Gowon took over #fact.If Ironsi's decree 34 weakened the regions autonomy why didn't Gowon who killed Ironsi and took over power restore whatever Ironsi did rather he choose to abolish the regions completely?

Decree 14 of 1966 by Gowon and Awo abolished the 4 regions and created 12 states.

Accordingly, Decree 34 of 1966 (so-called Unification Decree) by Maj-Gen Aguiyi Ironsi merely set up a Federal Military Government to be presided over by a Supreme Military Council, while Military Governors were appointed for the Four Regions, namely Lt-Col Adekunle Fajuyi, (Western Region); Lt.Col Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu (Eastern Region); Lt-Col David Ejoor (Midwestern Region) and Lt-Col Hassan Usman Katsina (Northern Region).

Attached is a copy of Decree 14 of Gen Gowon and his deputy Chief Awolowo that abolished the 4 regions and created 12 states.

If you read Decree 34 Well you will notice that Gen Ironsi had already Stripped the Regions of their Powers

Ironsi did not handover power to Gowon rather they killed him took over power from him and had every power to do and undo, to declared Dedcrees and nullify Decrees of the past, so stop blaming the dead.Those who had ruled Nigeria from july 1966 after the murder of Gen Ironsi have every power to do and undo whatever Ironsi did in 6 months he was in power.It is a shame that people of your kind still blames a man that ruled Nigeria for only 6 months 57 years after his death.
