SleepingTablets:Your last sentence cannot fly because NSCDC is a paramilitary organization, hence you cannot say you will be expanding anywhere, because they are located in all the LGAs and LCDAs across Nigeria. Also, saying you covered 75% of your target, as what? there is no department or unit in Civil Defence that has to do with any personnel having any targets to increasing revenue, meaning, NSCDC does not generate revenue of any sort. 3 Likes |

justwise: This is one of the issues I have with moderators threating individuals with account bans & restriction. Individuals should not be gagged for expressing themselves. There's always abuse of such privileges. There should be a better way to address such issues. 1 Like |

studyless123: Nothing to add to this current discussion but this particular moderator , that is his modus operandi. I remember how he blocked me from the travel section for 2 years. My offense? I was trying to find accountability partners to search for scholarships together , I didn’t create a group chat or anything. Something a simple explanation would have sorted, he decided to flex muscle. Thank God Nairaland isn’t the only information platform, and even after he banned me , I still travelled out. Fix up. You can go ahead and delete this message too or ban me for 5 years , since you’re fond of that. |

thatthickgurl: Yes i did explain to you that dropping contact details for people to contact you is not allowed. i engaged you and other people in that thread from page one of that thread to page 3 but you and others keep asking and dropping contact details then i have to ban you and others. Sometimes its completely pointless trying to reason with some of you because you don't have it in you to be understanding/ 3 Likes |

thatthickgurl: Because it is Sunday, let me preach. My account infosoftlife is in jail. Yes, the rule was broken and I could remember I saw the reason for the ban. @justwise is just policing the platform and the rules are boldly written. It is to keep everyone safe! @bolded it’s our collective responsibility to be the change we seek! Don't blame the police but the scammers of the past who made the moderators to start taking these bold steps. They are doing their job! When we ever get into a position of trust let us endeavor not to shut the doors for others behind us. Shalom!!! 2 Likes |

justwise: Oh my God. Don’t you dare lie. You didn’t engage me from page 1-3 . Please I hate lies. I was blocked when that page was still 1. I was so confused because I was trying to find out what I did wrong , I couldn’t reply to any of the mentions. Somebody from Diary section had to explain to me. I was still fresh on Nairaland then. Please uncle , I did not ask for anybody’s contact, stop acting like you’re a good person. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by thatthickgurl(f): 1:35pm On Jan 21 |
MrSoftlife: See why I said something an explanation could have sorted and I would have took down the thread. I was so enthusiastic about finding like minded people and didn’t consider scammers or anything, I don’t even come to the platform often back then to know the rules. A 2 year ban was too extreme. He did not modify his posts on the thread to explain until after I had been banned and couldn’t even respond. I remember he was asking me if I intend to create a group and I responded naively “anything preferable” , if he was someone nice , why not say , “that’s against the rules” . Will a scammer had let him know , there was going to be a group chat or something. FYI ; no group chats were created neither did I email anyone privately . I was too blinded by anger and confusion after the ban. Also, you see how people have stopped posting their interview transcripts? The group chat he banned innocent people like me for , is what others opened behind his back and people stopped coming here. |

Good day everyone and happy Sunday, Please, I would like to know if not having a GRE score would have a negative effect on my student visa interview at the U.S embassy. I have an LL.M from an European country (2016) and would like to pursue an MBA in the U.S. later on this year.I have visited the US twice on a B1/B2 and also refused by them when I wanted to renew 2 years ago. Been to the UK thrice and I also have a Canadian vistor's visa that I am yet to use. What are my chances of getting the visa considering my profile? Any input would be greatly appreciated. |

esdajo: @esdajo. Not having a GRE score would not have any negative effect on your visa interview outcome , but not having a good excuse (in the case the VO ask why did you not write GRE) or reason for not writing it might have a bad effect on your interview score. 1. You have an LL.M from an European country and you plan to apply for MBA in the US later in the year , are you presently using your LL.M to work as a business manager ? Because you must explain to the VO why going for MBA from law ? Or you want to apply for MBA because the enrollment process is kinda easy and flexible ? 2. You have B1/B2 visa before but you were denied when you wanted to renew ? This looks like you have abused the B1/B2 somehow via over-staying or any other way . 3. You have been to UK thrice , and you presently have a Canada visitors visa and you intend to apply for MBA towards the end of this year . 4. I don't work in the embassy but to me this looks like an old-trick of travel history or visa histories which does not beat the US embassy anymore. The VO will see your previous B1/B2 visa denial as number one bad omen, the number 2 bad omen is that you did not keep to your B1/B2 instead you have changed to F1 which is even not related to your law career . Your visa chance is 35/100% but God can do wonder ooo. God Bless Nigeria . 1 Like |

Good afternoon men and women of the same course, I want to inquire about 120. I have gotten a 120 for PhD at ucf with no funding and the source of my funding is family, however, another institution(Purdue university) gave me admission to MSC with little funding. Can I still request an I20 from the new institution and use it to apply for a Visa? Thank You. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by esdajo: 4:39pm On Jan 21 |
@SleepingTablets: Yes I have registered businesses that I am operating here in Nigeria since bagging my LL.M in Germany in 2016. That's why I want to pursue an MBA instead of another LL.M since I am not mentally prepared to pursue a PhD just yet. My trips to the UK from Germany has 8 months and another 1 year between those trips. I also got my previous US visas from Germany, first as a student and the second was upon graduation and working. I didn't stay up to 3 weeks in the US in each of the previous visits which were towards the expiration of the visas as I was always asked at the POE twice why I was just using the visas and I always answered "I've been busy with work". As for the Canadian visa, I may or may not use it as I am currently working on a project that requires my physical presence in Nigeria and the visa is to expire in June and I can't abandon the project just to embark on a foreign trip of just 3 weeks maximum. I have noted your point on taking the GRE and I will work on that. I just want to know if this is worth risking as I don't want to waste any money or even appearing desperate. The last refusal for a B1/B2 visa was in March 2022. I just want to know if this is worth pursuing or not. SleepingTablets: |

knostbrown01: @knostbrown01 There is a choice in rotten apples , and your choice is PhD because you did not do well in scholarship ratings of both schools. PhD has more reputation above MSc and especially if you are an outstanding student . If you can proof your family financial capability then why not ? Go for PhD . God Bless Nigeria . 1 Like |

esdajo: @esdajo Alright it seems you know what you 're doing . Its worth giving a try so go ahead and apply but prepare some of your explanations here in your DS 160 and your questions and answers (mock) training . Put emphasis on your established businesses (that ties you to MBA) . Meanwhile , I did not say you must write the GRE but if you have time and the resources it's a plus if you write it. God Bless Nigeria . |

SammySuave: @SammySuave. Don't give out your real age out in the public next time , you can just say am between 20 to 25, men will be men 😊 Now , that VO approved someone before you does not mean automatic approval for you because the VO is not sharing biscuit. 1. Your Answer to the 1st question " Why re you going to the US ? is too common and become an old school karaoke amongst Nigeria F1 visa applicants , so you failed that question . 2. You have answered the 2nd question ' Who will be sponsoring you (my dad ,period..you should have stopped there.) in your first phrase, but after that you continued talking until you talked yourself into problem which the consular officer thinks you have rehearsed or memorized . 3. Your 3rd answer to your study plans after graduation is also the new common song which majority of F1 visa hopefuls sings to the ears of the VO and your own version of the song did not even rhyme to your present situation . YOUR 2ND INTERVIEW =================== .1. You repeated your 1st errors in your 2nd interview but the most funny part is your answer to Why BYU ? Me: I chose Brigham young university Idaho for three main reasons, to begin BYU Idaho is owned and operated by the church of Jesus Christ which I am a member of 2. As interesting to know that United States is a religious country like Nigeria , yet they do not like anything religious attachment , therefore your answer to Why BYU is knocked out . My friend you have lot of home assignments to do . Your situation combination is the problem as well as how to express yourself to the interview officer . God Bless Nigeria . |

SammySuave: Try and take SAT/TOEFL or get some professional certificates in line with Computer programming. This should be what you should add to what has changed about your profile. Also, if application fee is not a problem apply to other schools. University of Idaho, University of Central Arkansas e.t.c. 1 Like |

SammySuave:Since you finished high school since 2000, you would need to clearly explain what you have been doing in a clear and concise way. It would also be useful if what you’re currently doing, ie that job pays you N350k, is tied to your academic pursuit. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Debbieeeeeee: 11:16am On Jan 22 |
SammySuave:Getting a bachelors at 21 is pretty dicey but not undoable, also this study gap between 2020 and 2024 are you able to properly articulate and account for this gap to show you have been busy. Also can you try another school and probably take SAT, get a full ride. Try Alabama A&M I know they give full rides to good SAT scores. I wish you all the best in your endeavour because two after refusals you need to plan and strategize properly so the third time can be the charm. |
