Biola67: No one advised against studying there. I already knew I was heading to the UK before finishing my undergrad degree as the postgraduate program I wanted to go in for (Msc.Clinical Child Psychology) was offered by only one school in the UK. |

You have just made it clear. Proper preparation prevents poor performance. The story you're being told before coming to the UK is different from the reality. Although it pays off in the long run. Regards lexybaba1234: |

heykims: The story of no job, the high exchange rate, the no dependant. So people should keep their money or look elsewhere that are cheaper.. Eastern Europe etc. Actually the job issue. I have been applying since 5 days now. Cleaning position, care, warehouse The only response I got from a recruiter on cleaning and he asked for DBS I sent. Said he only need someone staying 45 minutes to the location after giving him my post code. Watin concern am if I stay just one hour. My own is it not to come to do clearning by 8am which I can wake up 5:30am even if it's snowing and leave by 10am daily. Which in one hour I should be there. I just tire.. I sleep on indeed than reading my books Walahi

004gist: Look into part time roles as a residential children support worker with NO EXPERIENCE though I know it is very hard to get but if you get it, the sailing would get smoother. |

If you are not selective with jobs. You can also try downloading indeed flex app for Sainsbury's Replenishment Assistant jobs around you. Am a Dr with long years of professional experience as a chemical Scientist/ Process Chemist in Germany. I didnt have a stable job until after 3 months. There is dignity in labour in the uk. It took me about 3 months to get a stable, permanent and professional job in the UK. U will be fine, I understand the frustration, the pressure from people even at home and how stressful it is. Keep pushing. When you apply always include the length of your visa. Employers doesn't want to hire someone with short visa or someone that need visa sponsorship. Please note, am using Global Talent work visa, and I don't and will never need visa sponsorship (including my dependent in the UK) however my wife came to the UK before me (on study visa). Am also feeling the heat cos she wasn't allow to switch to my dependent visa except we finish paying all school fees and after she completed her studies. That's why am also affected. Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 9 by lexybaba1234: 6:15pm On Jan 23 |
Joyglo: Nooooo, you dont need to be a techy. Am not in a tech space, u just have to be highly recognised in your field. If you a have a PhD, it's a plus for you. Further reading available here https://www.gov.uk/global-talent |

hustla: Yes, children and young persons get wahala but if u go fit chest am, the future is bright. The role expects you to act as a professional parent to the child/young person in residence. If you are doing the day shift which in most places is 12 hours long and starting by taking over from the night shift staff at 8a.m. The day staff see to it that young person wakes up and have their shower then breakfast as many of those young ones living in care do not attend regular schools, there are arrangements for tutors to one-on-one take them on some subjects which many homes prefer to be done at the nearest library, the support worker who drives would take the young person to the library using the home's vehicle and go sit at a corner of the library while the young person learns. Daily routine check in the home involves recording the freezer and fridge temperature, tap water temperature, checking there is no out of date food in the fridge and if any, must be put in the trash bin, count the sharps (knives, scissors, pizza cutter, ligature etc) that are always locked in a box and safely kept inside the manager's office which one of the bedrooms in the home serves as, count the money that is in a safe in the office that has cash for the home expenditure, the young person's weekly pocket money, haircut/salon money, activity money, cash rewards earned for cleaning their bedrooms, personal hygiene, helping out in the home, clothing money etc. Also count and record the medication in the medicine box, make sure all the fire extinguishers are in the different location of the house as expected. Cook meals for yourself and the young ones, while encouraging them to help out in the kitchen so they can learn from you, how to handle things in the kitchen. Movie nights, staff and the young persons go out to the cinema to watch movies, for those registered with a gym or sports academy, staff accompanies the young person. For a home for only one young person (teenager), about 8 workers do their full time shifts in that home. There are lots of trainings that would be offered and one get enrolled into the apprenticeship system to obtain Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare and working with young persons, paid for by the UK government. When one achieves Level 5, then becoming a registered home manager becomes closer and the pay is GOOD! 8 Likes 1 Share |

Mindlog: Thanks for the explanation. Used to do exactly this at a YP Supported Living some time ago but they were 17 - 19 year olds. Ill look into it How tough is the L5 Cert? I think the L3 one wont be that difficult but a bit costly If I will remain in healthcare as backup plan, I would not like to be a bottom feeder. Make man do Mgr roles collect better kishi 1 Like |

hustla: It is children social care sector and you have to work in the homes and climb the ladder: Residential support worker-Senior residential support worker-Team leader-Assistant home manager-Registered home manager and a smart person can achieve all these by end of his/her of 5 years skilled worker visa. The beautiful thing is that residential children homes are money spinners, becoming a registered home manager you can set up your own homes.....each YP in residence, properly managed and meeting all Ofsted regulations, can get you 5 figure profit per month, that is why Zimbabweans are controlling the industry. 2 Likes |
