I Think Benue State Is The State With The Least Federal Presence. My story by Workch: 6:09am On Jan 23
Although I have not been to every state in the country but I have stepped by feet in every region, I have been to all the states in Southern and North Central and then to Bauchi and Kaduna in the core north, the state with the least federal presence seem to be Benue state.

In Benue state, there's no single dual carriage inter-town or inter-state road. If you are traveling from port Harcourt to Benue, the dual carriage express road cuts accross Abia and then connects back to Anambra through Enugu, you have to take a single lane road from 9th Mile to connect Benue. On getting to Otukpa in Benue, the single lane road is bad until you get to Otukpo and Aliade. At some point, I do not usually understand where the route these drivers take. From Aliade to Markurdi until you enter Nasarawa again, na single tiny lane.
Benue state is also the only state I have visited in Nigeria with no single flyover infrastructure. In Nasarawa, you can still see a flyover constructed by the federal government in keffi and links Mararaba.

Ontop of this, the insecurity is sublime. There's no way you want to connect Benue that you won't worry about insecurity because they do not have a functioning commercial airport. And the federal government is not ready to address this. If you must go to Benue by air, you will need to fly to Enugu or Abuja first then you have to enter Benue by road, Enugu airport is about 4-5 hours journey from Markurdi, Abuja is about 5-6 hours. And for me sincerely, Markurdi is vaibke enough to host an airport, even if the federal government does not want to address it, the state government can.

The last time I took this route, I landed in Enugu by 6pm and on going to Makurdi, I had to sleep at Aliade because of Fulani herdsmen wahala. I slept in the bus to avoid being slaughtered.

It's like the federal government is deliberately punishing this state. The 3 major towns of Gboko, Makurdi and Otukpo, none of them is connected via a dual carriage way. No flyover, no massive agricultural scheme, there's almost no sign of federal government in Benue state. Unlike what you see in Plateau, you will still see functioning federal institutes, federal schemes and programs.

Hehehe.

The reality is that Benue State is a political tool used by the far north to remain relivant.

Benue State is only part of north during elections, and after that they are relegated behind.

The killings, underdevelopment and banditry in Benue doesn't effect the core north.

Benue State have a lot of potentials that will move Nigeria forward, but is presently in ruin.

To make matters worse, Benue state have been unfortunate when it comes to leadership.
Their leaders since 1999 have always been amongst the most clueless set in each regime. From Akume,to Suswan, then comes Automatic grin. These guys did practically nothing, but reduced civil servants to beggars in Benue State.

If Nigeria is a serious country, Benue State with her fertile land can solve the problem we are facing today as regards food scarcity and inflation.

Whenever I enter Benue I usually understand what southeast would have been like if we are not agitating and demanding at least a bit of development from FG.

I think the state hasn't been blessed with good and visionary governors.

The immediate past governor of the state was the worst of them all.

He literally blamed Buhari throughout the entire duration of his eight-year tenure.

How can you say benue state doesn't have an airport when airpeace they go there 3 times in a week undecided

As for federal presence, apart from plateau state, show me another state in the north central that has more federal presence than benue.

The only things you can say about benue that I will agree to is that there's high poverty rate, insecurity, cultism and prostitution. But if its about federal presence you are wrong. The state hasn't been blessed with good governors that's why the place looks ancient

Go to their website and book a flight to Benue na šŸ˜‚

Let's see you do it. This is what happens when you don't travel, you rely on media for everything. Makurdi Airport is not functioning, it has not been functioning for years.

The problem with benue state is their governor, when a particular tribe see it as a birth right to govern the state. Once allocation comes, next is to share and no body questions them

Banue is yet to experience Fair leadership....more reason of this is voting strength of TIV.... Even a goat can contest and win inasmuch he is from Tiv. Not just Banue Some other state like Ebonyi doesn't have dual federal road but there governor construct double lane.

Airpeace comes to mkd on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays with a connecting flight to Lagos and Abuja. There is a dual carriage way from north bank area of the Benue river to keffi. Benue plays host to two federal universities,NAF base,NASME, Nigerian airforce tactical command hqtrs,72 div,Special force battalion,Navy and other military installations.
While flyover might not be a measure of development the capital city is littered with roundabouts to ease vehicular movement as most of the major roads are tree lined with pavements and mostly dualised.
The city might not be filled with modern and expensive architectures but they have serene neighbourhoods with basic amenities. The nightlife in the capital is top notch as movement is not restricted for any reason as crime is on low.

The fist road is from Abuja to Keffi. You can see its a dual carriage.

The second road is fom Lafia to Makurdi. It's a single lane road.

If you don't believe me, i will show you current satellite images. The dual carriage from Abuja to Makurdi terminates at Keffi.
The dual carriage road from Port harcourt to Makurdi terminates at 9th mile, none of them made it into Benue state.

If there's a federal dual carriage road in Benue, tell me the name, let's check.
