Rent Issue! by Gentlesoul2021(m): 9:04am On Jan 23 |
Good day NL Please don't air me. I paid my last rent in September, September 17th to be precise. When is my rent suppose to expire, is it not September the following year? How come they are counting August? If you do your birthday March 5, are you celebrating your next year birthday by February 5? OR When a new child is born on Monday and named Monday the following week, why didn't the naming be held on Sunday.. We calculate everything right but when it comes to rent, we draw the line? Please come to my rescue and explain because I don't understand again. When is my rent suppose to expire I need clarification. Thank you. 3 Likes 1 Share

When did you pay? September 1 or september 30? What date was written on the agreement? Those are the things that matter. 27 Likes 4 Shares |

MidasTouch15: Don't you have tenancy agreement? It is September to August, that's how we calculate it on all the properties we manage. Do well to pay your landlord on time 14 Likes |

Gentlesoul2021: Nothing to calculate. Your rent is due on the same date you paid. Shikena. If you pay your rent January 1st of a new year. You renew on the same January 1st the next year. 52 Likes |

Dealing with a landlord who engages in such practices is truly distressing. Instead of engaging in arguments, consider saving up and gracefully vacating the apartment when the lease expires. Ideally, you should receive the remainder of September as a moving bonus. Landlords who meticulously calculate dates for tenants often signal trouble ahead. From my past experiences, such landlords tend to burden tenants with an array of unexpected bills. As the lease expiration approaches, they may even attempt to increase the rent by 30%. If you agree to this hike, be prepared for a steeper increase of 50% the following year. 12 Likes 1 Share |

I don't understand all these 12 months or 13 months gibberish that some of you are typing up there. My own be sey, if I pay you September 2023, my next rent will be in September 2024. #That's_All 40 Likes 1 Share |

Gentlesoul2021:This one month deficit calculation is mostly done by greedy barristers, caretakers or agents in charge of the property and not the landlord. That's why it's always good to let them know before making payment that you'll be renewing your rent after 12 months and not 11. Eg if you make payment today 23rd January 2024, it should be due on 23rd January 2025 and not 23 December 2024. If they refuse to agree with you that you'll be due on 23rd January 2024, tell them you're no more interested in the house and leave, they'll call you back to make payment. If you just make payment without settling this issue, there's nothing you can do than to arrange their money by 23rd December 2024. So just arrange their money by August for them, and sort it out before making your next payment 9 Likes |

Oga August is correct Sept to August is 12month You are confusing yourself self with sept 17 date not knowing the agreement is saying sept 1 to August 30 now there is a fight over 1- 16th days Finally check the tenancy agreement you signed that the referee Maybe I need to break down this more A calendar year is from Jan 2023 to Dec 2023 and not Jan 2023 to Jan 2024 The real point of confusion here is because he paid on the 16th (mid month) if according to the receipt and agreement his rent starts counting from that date of payment then is annual payment will be due on the 15th of sept but in practice mostly start at the beginning of the month and end at the last day of the month eg from 1 August to 31 July , 1 Sept - 30 August e. t.c and it is what is on the agreement and receipt that stand not date of payment Note your tenancy does not start counting the day you made payment as people usually assume, the tenancy start counting on the date agreed and written on the receipt and on the tenancy agreement 3 Likes |
