By law your rent was even supposed to start counting by October 1st. 1 Like |

JayPeeOham:if he just moved into the house September 17th and paid the rent that day, do u expect him to renew the rent august 17th of the next year? If yes now count again and u will see that is 11 months and not 12. But if he was staying there before and his rent already expired before he paid, then that is a different issue entirely. But if he moved there September 17th 2023, then September 16th 2024 should make it a year. September 17th starts a new circle 2 Likes |

Gentlesoul2021:if you pay in September, your rent expires in August. You start counting from the September to August. That's 12 months. |
Re: Rent Issue! by MadeMan01(m): 11:08am On Jan 23 |
You rent expires a day to anniversary. Example if you paid annual rent September 1, it expires August 31. If you paid September 15, it expires September 14 3 Likes |

Did you read the agreement and check your receipt after payment? There is always a clause in the agreement that any date in a month represent a full calendar month. However, most landlord/caretaker usually use any date before 15th day of the month to represent a full calendar month or you wait till the end of the month and rent the house (provided other serious person won't have taken it). Also, you can negotiate with the landlord/caretaker to use the following month to calculate your rent at the point of making payment and confirm same from your receipt. This will prevent you this calculation which you can't win except through negotiation. Don't let "no gree for anybody" put you out looking for saara/wicked agreement and commission for a new apartment ooo. That one month disparity fit put you at loggerhead with your land and can earn you quit notice. Many human beign don't like being challenged on top their property. #My 2 cents |

What was in the agreement? This doesn't sound like your very first payment. Is it? if your rent was due in August and you paid September 17th, the fact that you paid late doesn't change the date your rent is due. Also for some agents if you rent an apartment before 15th they count that whole month for you. Some landlords start counting from the next month for a fresh start irrespective of when you paid your rent. So it depends. But if it started counting that Sept 17th then your rent is due Sept 16th the next year. 2 Likes |

Re: Rent Issue! by tuzle(m): 11:13am On Jan 23 |
Sirebrightlight:so he will pay his rent September and not august. If u pay ur rent 1st of September, do u renew ur rent 1st of August or 1st of September the next year? Since August is supposed to be ur last month there so ur rent expires on the 31st. But in his case he paid on the 17th of September, so his rent will expire on the 16th of September the next year |
Re: Rent Issue! by Procashtips(m): 11:14am On Jan 23 |
SouthSouth1914: How many days makes a month? Even if he paid on the 1st of September, a month would be on the 1st of October. Take it from someone who managed tenants and properties for some years. So if you start counting by September 2023, a year's rent would be September 2024. This is simple Na. 2 Likes |

MidasTouch15: Go and talk to any lawyer Una too funny for here. The way we calculate it is you count the month you entered as month 1. September 14- month 1 October 14- month 2. |
Re: Rent Issue! by Procashtips(m): 11:16am On Jan 23 |
Obierika: Even if it was 1st of September, rent would still be due on the first of September next year. |

Re: Rent Issue! by danilo16(m): 11:16am On Jan 23 |
Here is a simple calculation to help you solve the puzzle. September 17 to October 17 = 1 Month October 17 to November 17 = 2 Months November 17 to December 17 =3 Months December 17 to January 17 = 4 Months January 17 to February 17 = 5 Months February 17 to March 17 = 6 Months March 17 to April 17 = 7 Months April 17 to May 17 = 8 Months May 17 to June 17 = 9 Months June 17 to July 17 = 10 Months July 17 to August 17 = 11 Months August 17 to September 17 = 12 Calendar Months |

Gokslab: Chief, ask any lawyer, it is not counted like that Month 1 is September 14 Month 2 is October 14 This is the actual order. Go and check any tenancy agreement written by any lawyer or visit a local magistrate court and ask them this question 1 Like |

Re: Rent Issue! by Lukuluku69(m): 11:20am On Jan 23 |
Gentlesoul2021: Lol Your Rent is Due in August if you pay in September. Count it. September 1 October. 2 November 3 December. 4 January 5 February 6 March. 7 April 8 May 9 June 10 July 11 August. 12 So, you renew at the end of August. 1 Like |

Re: Rent Issue! by seborrhic: 11:22am On Jan 23 |
Greedy, illogical foo ls. Going by those who say the rent will expire August not September,it means if he pays August this year, the rent next year is due July, upper year June,May,April, etc. Means that if he stays up to 10years in that house, there would come a month when he would even be in arrears of rent even before he pays the next due one! Re: Rent Issue! by Inspirer1: 11:25am On Jan 23 |
Procashtips:I wonder o, they are leaving out the 16 days in September that the guy had not occupied the apartment, that's why he needs to spend those 16 days in the following year's September to complete 1 year, hence his rent is due 16th September. Another angle to it is that let us agree he pays by August (with their erroneous counting) then it implies he will pay the third payment by July if they count erroneously again 1 Like |
