Let's be real with ourselves, Nigeria has a high ceiling if only we can harness the beauties nature bestowed on us which could be a good tourist attractions. We have quite a lot across the nooks and crannies of the country which could have attracted huge globetrotting tourists but lack of innovation from our leaders and high level of insecurity won't make the idea of visiting Nigeria look appealing to tourist.Sincerely in an unbiased rating, Nigeria will still have a struggle to fit in top 20 in Africa.

Airport must be renovated. The airport thieves that extort passengers must be cleaned off, security improved and tourist attractions heavily invested upon.

Nigeria already have cultural soft power in the form of afrobeats for example, we can create something like an afrobeat village, just as Jamaica is the country for reggae, USA for hip hop and korea for kpop.

Nigeria don't have animals which western tourist are interested in, but we have the ruins of benin wall, which is the longest in the world.

The northerners that tames hyenas and so on. Aba market should be renovated to attract business people from all part of Africa, and the world, just like China attracts all kinds of business people globally.

African countries particularly Nigeria suck balls when it comes to tourism. Nigeria is at the lower end of African countries taking in tourism. Not only does Africa not have basic amenities like stable power, good roads etc. there isn’t really any tourist infrastructure and whatever tourist attractions Africa has pales compared to its rivals. Europe, Asia and Pacific as well North America kill Africa in terms of tourism. Even Latin America receives way more. Spain on its own has more tourist arrivals than Africa combined.

Nigeria has sites worth visiting, natural and artificial, but our government do not prioritize tourism because they cannot sell millions of barrels of it everyday.

Like Rwanda, our government is doing quite prolific in creating an enabling business environment for investors in the opposite direction.

Instead of gaining visits, we are gaining exits. The citizens are exiting en-masses, establishment we never thought would exit Nigeria have successfully dashed our hope like a freshly picked egg from the poultry on a marble finished floor.

Like Tensazangetsu20 would say, You can never lose betting against Nigeria. That being said, even if Bishop Benson Idahosa should resurrect today with a message from God saying that, Nigeria would be better, do not believe it.

It does but it pales compared to its regional rivals not to talk of international ones. North Africa smokes the rest of Africa in tourism. Those countries have far better reputations, more iconic attractions etc

Successive governments after OBJ have not been serious with governance( aside Yaradua), even though OBJ was not perfect in governance but in terms of growing and promoting Nigeria to the outside world, he remains one of the best.

During his 8 year tenure, Nigeria hosted FIFA youth world cup, Ghana/Nigeria AFCON, COJA games for all Africa, I also remember watching Nigeria advertised on CNN for years during his tenure same way Turkey and other countries advertise on CNN these days.

Now ask yourself can Nigeria even host any football worldcup or even AFCON?

Governance has deteriorated so bad that even the present government cannot even open their mouth to say they want to bid to host any world competition,

is it the security of guest nations they want to guaranty when they have not done that for their own citizens? Then how do you want tourists to visit the country?

Nigeria can’t host AFCON. Bandits would sabotage it.
