I have this mopower 1.7kva inverter and a 220ah tubular haustrom battery. After fully charged with either PV or electricity, the battery drops 2 bar out of 5 bar in the charge controller screen that's without load, just inverter. Battery is just 6-7 months old and I've been experiencing it since installation. I want to know if this is normal.
It was charged full last night. The inverter screen indicated it was fully charged. But while nepa took light the bar and voltage dropped.

Check each cell's electrolyte level with hydrometer

its an external charge controller.. growatt. 120amps.
Why are ur panels connected in parallel instead of series? Unless u using a pwm or ur mppt max voltage is low?

I understand all you just said. But the 300w panels i used are 36v in paper and it's definitely not 12v (I'll add a diagram that shows it details). So there's no way I'm gonna series 3 panels that arent 12v together, it's gonna exceed the max 48v input for the controller. I might be wrong.

I never mentioned 12v, what i said was combining them in series would be better than the parallel connection u used. Ur 3 panels wud be giving you about 100v while the current wud be abt 8amps thus requiring a smaller guage wire and still within the hybrid mppt voltage of 30 to 400. In parallel, ur max volt wud ideally be 36v but in reality can drop to less than 30 at which charging capacity wud be poor or even absent.
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by JoeSef0(m): 4:48pm On Jan 28
Okay okay.. i get you now.
Even the 5 pieces 180w 12v i asked about yesterday, i could have just series everything since the pwm charge controller has a max pv voltage is 100

Thanks

Can you state the voltages at 5bars and 3 bars respectively.

Oga, you will be wasting valuable power if you connect all the panels in series, your charge controller is pwm for God sake
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by JoeSef0(m): 5:46pm On Jan 28
For 5 bar it was around 13.2 for the 3 bar it was below 12.5

Thanks bro. The thing is i upgraded my panels yesterday.. 6pieces 580w solar panel. 2 panels connected in series into 3 places. Thats 2_2_2 in series, all paralled together. I just put it under heavy load. My growatt charge controller displayed 2730watts pv input.. 18amps pv and 90v pv. Its a 48v inverter... 4 pieces 12v LA battery is series..
Each panel 51v
13amps
580w. Just wanted to be sure its working fine. Under the heavy load, pv input amps stays at 18amps, While batt says 43amps. Was thinking the pv amps would get to 30amps and above or something. I should just believe everything is fine since I'm getting 2730watts from 3480w panel on heavy load.

Congrats on your upgrade, which inverter did you connect this to?

If not for the Max "PV Open Circuit Voltage" of your CC which is 150v, 3s2p configuration would have given you better production.

Well, I don't think there's anything wrong with the battery, you need to be sure of the self consumption of the inverter I guess it's almost 50 watts.

Note that Lead Acid batteries are fully charged at 12.6v, the 13.2 is just surface charge that disappears in seconds/minutes once charger is unpluged.

You can try charging with an external charger and charge at 14.5v let's see if there's a change

so that the pv voltage will increase. I use mppt charge controller. I learnt that to charge a 48v system, u need at least 60v pv voltage, hence the reason i serie_d then paralleld to increase voltage.. can mppt charger increase panel voltage output?

Ipower 5kva inverter. But i used an external charge controller...120amps, 150v VOC. Please how will 3s2p give me better production..??

Batteries of same chemistry can be in series.

Yes you can buy its recipe for quick failure (lithium)
It's not recommended. It's better to go for a 24v battery at once.
In the long run, imbalance would set in.

I never understand this lithium chsrging failure wen in series. Abeg make una let me understand. Cos i have one in series but connected to a busbar and i dont see anything wrong. Me i nor de monitor anytin. Install n move to d next available job

Is it the iPowerPlus 5kva with 150v or 450v?

Your pv will start to charge early and sleep late and that will increase the production.

But DON'T try that oh since your panel has 51.02 Voc.

3s2p will damage your CC if you use the right wire guage because the Growatt 120A CC you bought from Gennex is Max 150 VOC.

Series or parallel? Can you draw your connection?

If connected in a series, anyone to first gets to 100% cuts off charging an anyone that first gets to low voltage cuts off discharging. As the internal resistance between them is not same, with repeated cycle, the difference in capacity between the two will become much.

Whats ur mppt charger voltage range, that wud determine max nos of panels u can series together

How sir? So long as he doesn't exceed the max pwm voltage, I feel he sud be fine plus he'd be using a thinner wire (which wud be cheaper) cos of the reduced current.
