I am starting to see some arrogance from fans towards the Angola game. I hope it doesn't get to the players and coaches too Abeg o. I don see this kain movie before. Angola game will surely be tougher than Cameroun. I hope our players don't buy into the hype and lose tactical discipline. We play better with this lineup, sit back and counter with speed while exploiting mistakes. Don't let Angola lure us into playing one yeye attacking football We shouldn't get carried away Angola is a better team than Cameroun 3 Likes

timbros: Who is the reason we were overrun in the first place There is a reason Oliseh, Finidi and Kanu played for tier 1 clubs while Okocha was in backwater No serious club will entertain a circus clown in their midfield that leaves so many holes around his partner, doesn't press his side etc. It is only Nigeria with Etim Essien ay ay ay culture that will accommodate such a player Okocha was played behind the striker at Fener and on the left wing at Bolton. He was a CM liability. Amokachi used to function as a midfielder to alleviate him, when Amokachi got injured against Italy in 1994, we fell apart 7 Likes |

afrodoc2: Troussier knew what he was doing. That France 98 qualifiers he insisted on Garba and played 352 but everyday journalists go dey insult am say this is not our style. We want to play 442 attacking while having Okocha entertain us. We qualified easily then sacked Troussier because he was not playing the Nigeria way. To hand over to Bora Multivitamin Na only Oliseh fit hold midfield when playing Okocha because Oliseh was very strong and has a brain to release pass and spread the field. 1 Like |

Ibime: Towards France 98 dem interview Okocha and he said he has one dribble to present to fans at France 98 that he is practicing. He named the dribble Makossa style. I think it was the double legover. That was what he spent the tournament trying to perfect while we dey collect from everyone. Towards USA was when he introduced the Rabona to us Vs Denmark I remember one move wey Okocha lose ball, Finidi and Oliseh were running like armed robbers to retrieve the ball back. By the time they got it back, worked the ball to Okocha he controlled and he to a standstill already surrounded by 2 Danish players then Okocha come start his Makosa dribble one Danish player chopped grass into the sidelines but others recovered the ball and Okocha just gave the other teammates a smile Omo the kain head dribble wey Ebbe Sand give Taribo for the 3rd goal led him straight into Pastor work cos he saw heaven that day Players like Okocha, St Maximin, Lualua Tresor Lomana, even Wilfred Zaha you better push then to wing or second striker. If you put them in midfield na suffer get them How many DM failed for Naija that time Oliha Olofinjana Ikpe Ekong, Godwin Okpara(that was hailed for stopping R9 in a UEFA cup game before R9 destroyed him in the return leg). Na only Oliseh wey fit shout on Okocha fit control am small 10 Likes 1 Share |

raumdeuter: @bolded.... This is exactly how 442 of the 90s work. Then, no one expect a number 10 to fall back and do defensive works. That job is for the number 4 (what many call number 6 today). And no, Okocha was not the left winger in that match. Okocha was the number 10. I don't know what you guys problem is with Okocha in those two matches against Cameroun where he scored. In 2000, the game ended in PK shootout. In 2004, we won 2-1. Cc Ibime 2 Likes |

Ibime: Egbon, a playmaker looks good when his team mates finish what he creates, but with a goal-shy front line of Kanu and Chukwu (if not for aghahowa that saved us) at the afcon 2000, jayjay was forced to try to be the source of goals himself. And he did his best. Imagine he was also the joint top scorer at afcon 2004!! As good as Oliseh was he was not better than Mikel Obi who is constantly being disrespected by fans.. You talked about the quarter finals but didn’t mention his impact in the group stages where he serially raped mustapha hadji and khale with the later running away from the game before the end after the constant knacking from okocha. We miss the flare and creativity in the AM, Okocha’s game goes way over dribbles, the intelligence is just mesmerizing to watch. We simply don’t have a player with such skill. Iwobi is poor mans Okocha. And of course sir, like most other playmakers, he can only really be effective operating behind a front two.. 2 Likes |

timbros: Match ended 2-2 but if it was a boxing match, corner would have thrown in towel tay tay, they absolutely pummelled us. Go and compare to our semifinal against RSA where we dominated due to Okocha suspension The only difference was Adepoju for Okocha And no, teams did not play DM and flagrant delinquent AM then. England play Scholes as second CM, Italy play Dino Baggio or Albertini. Brazil play Kleberson ontop Gilberto Silva, France play Vieira or Petit as CM with Deschamps behind. Holland play Davids plus Cocu. The second CM was not a flagrant tactical delinquent like Okocha except in ay ay ay land. 4 Likes |

timbros: You win matchups mostly by creating overloads if opposing coach notice that you have a passenger they will quickly destroy you There were different types of 10s we have the Lualua Okocha type wey go dribble and lose ball carelessly and we had the Amokachi/Siasia, Oruma, Friday Ekpo wey no sabi dribble but will put body for ball and destroy opponent with pass In that 442 you either need a 10 who won't lose the ball carelessly e.g Man utd will play 2 wingers Beckham and Giggs but they are sure Keane and Scholes go solidify your middle 2nd option is to cancel one wing for another CM to accommodate your flamboyant 10 who is mostly a tactical liability When Camerounian had the ball and your left winger should fall back to help the LB, Okocha will be in center circle waiting for them to retrieve the ball and send forward That 2000, Cameroun dey use Vivien foe for 10. Joezinho: Oliseh was better as a DM than Mikel What do you think is the reason big teams no reason Okocha type football but Fenernahce Bolton type clubs When we win its mostly to park Okocha to a peripheral role, when we make him the cornerstone we lose or get embarrassed by not qualifying for 2006 world cup |

Joezinho: Calm down. Morocco were nobodies in African football. Yeah they went to World Cup and did one or two but exited at group stages. From 1990 to 2004, I'm sure you can't name one AFCON where Morocco have made an impact. Even till today, they are still nobodies in AFCON. |

Ibime: A South African team without Benni McCarthy. A team with old Lucas Radebe, and you think they stood a chance against Nigeria? The team was already fading away after the 1998 AFC finals. What impact did they have on the African stage after the 2000 Nations Cup? |

Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by Unlimited22: 4:39pm On Jan 28 |
Joezinho:Mikel played more as a CM and even AM for Nigeria than he did as a DM. There's always been people like Seyi Olofinjana, Dickson Etuhu, Ogenyi Onazi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Wilfred Ndidi behind him. I could be wrong but I'm not sure Mikel has ever been the Primary DM for Nigeria Not to forget the smattering of options tried out in those roles like them Lukman Haruna, Nosa Igiebor, John Ogu, Reuben Gabriel etc 1 Like |

Listen to people talk, and you'll know who watches games with their nostrils and not their eyes. Na so one person on Twitter was screaming for us to be starting Iheanacho in place of Iwobi. We dey play 343 with 2 box to box CMs since Alhassan Yusuf got injured. You wán carry Iheanacho play B2B in a 343? This Okocha-Oliseh dynamic go be child's play. The only other person we have who can slot into that role in this current system is Raphael Onyedika and I don't think even he has the lungs for a full 90 in that role. Frank Onyeka will cough his lungs out after 45 minutes. |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by raumdeuter: 4:55pm On Jan 28 |
Unlimited22: Onyeka will die of work if dem bring Iheanacho for midfield Pray Iwobi never gets injured. Cos we are light in midfielders who have lungs to run it. After Iwobi then na Aribo. I have never watched Onyedika before though Izzou can your twin brother Onuachu play as keeper? |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by Ibime(m): 4:57pm On Jan 28 |
Joezinho: All you need to know is they finished 1st in 1996, 2nd in 1998 and 3rd in 2000 The dispatched Ghana in the QF and topped their group |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by Unlimited22: 5:08pm On Jan 28 |
raumdeuter:Aribo ke? That one na soft Britico boy. Only four people can play that role in this squad. Iwobi, Onyeka, Yusuf and Onyedika. This was the major criticism we had of Peseiro going into the tourney. Anybody could see we were light in the centre. Aribo, Iheanacho are not a fit for this system because they are passengers when it comes to defending. |
