kokoA: Fine, so why do supporters of government proclaim dangote refinery as an economic masterstroke that will ease the stress on the economy. Just like you said, dangote refinery is a private business and a profit oriented one at that, and gives no damn about who eats or not. Dangote will sell his fuel at an international standard rate to ensure continuity in business. Any sensible businessman would do the same if I were in his shoes. For me, I think the only problem is dangote given the licence to import and have access to the already scarce dollars to fund his private business. Doing that kills the economy more. Let him source for dollars like other business men. People talk about dangote exporting to other countries, they forget that it's only a fraction of it that will be returned to the economy in USD. Most of the money might be invested in other businesses abroad and there's nothing anyone can do about it. People needs to understand that Dangote refinery is not Nigeria's refinery. 2 Likes |

DeLaRue: are you OK? Dangote owes Nigeria nothing ? IF Dangote was an American operating his business in America- he will be serving at least 40 years imprisonment right now for breaching "ANTI-TRUST" laws - Do you know for for almost 25 years now - Dangote has been the monopoly for CEMENT (main reason why other established cement companies like BENUE CEMENT COMPANY, went bankrupt) Dangote has been the monopoly for FLOUR (main reason why other established flour companies like SUN FLOUR MILL, went bankrupt) Dangote has been the monopoly for SUGAR et c. and he and his croonies in Government engineered the demise of the REFINERIES using LACK OF MAINTENANCE and other vices to kill them because he also wanted to become a MONOPOLY in the OIL REFINING SECTOR - he did not stop there - Buhari loaned him billions of dollars for this reason of completing his refinery to serve Nigerians - and now he is saying he will get his oil from USA so that Nigerians can not expect cheap fuel from him - WHY DIDNT HE GO BUILD HIS REFINERY IN THE USA? since he is a very smart business man ? At least Economics 101 tells us that Industries are sited close to availability of raw materials - Let him sell the REFINERY to NIGERIA government and go build his new refinery in the USA ---- look look the see finish and contempt these elites have for Nigeria is nauseating I do not blame Dangote - IF Tinubu can be foisted on Nigeria by INEC and the so called Supreme Court - then Dangote spewing this trash to Nigerians is the easiest BS I expect from him. Amaechi said Nigerians will do nothing even IF you line up 10 people and shoot them in the head |

Gerrard59: Interestingly, global refining capacity billed to be added between 2023 and 2027 is north of 10 million barrels per day. Dangote's refinery will eat up only 600K. In effect, Dangote can import crude oil from foreign sources and sell refined products to foreign sources with zero care in the world for Nigeria's energy needs. He does not need the Nigerian market. He does not need the CBN anymore. His refinery sits right on the shoreline. With clever accounting, he could also get away with paying peanuts in taxes. If I were in his shoes, I'll do the same thing. Nigerians can kick rocks. When they're fed up with destructive partisanship, they know what to do. -Lord |

They will come to media to lie, they will be buying crude illegally in Nigeria, then they will tell you that it's being imported from USA. This will inturn ulter the fuel price |

Northernblood7:According to you, if Dangote imports crude and sells refined petroleum to other countries, it wouldn’t benefit Nigerians!!!! Your analysis is plain dumb. Hahahha Frontpage comments are funny. Dangote is in business with Lagos State. See... Dangote is setting Yoruba to toast South-South for crude oil, but he has shown that...." to heck with their crude oil". And Lagos is backing him. Now you know why Tinubu is the president. Now, you know why the CBN is moving most financial aspects to Nigeria. See...forget it. Tinubu is handing over to someone (a northerner) in their clique. Yoruba will toast South-South for their oil...and if Igbo wants to do...fine. if not, they don't care. Igbo needs to check out of Nigeria to be prosperous. I am saying this for their good. |

Mansa6:Don't be a dunce, if Nigeria sells to dangote in dollars or in whatever currency the currency still domicile in country, now dangote is taking the currency out. If every private person starts to build refinery, it creates room for capitalism, it therefore means the government is useless. |
Re: Dangote Refinery To Import Crude Oil From The United States by nedekid: 8:38am On Jan 30 |
Nigeria's case is abracadabra. The more you look the less you see. What works in other countries will never work in Nigeria. When there is increase in oil prices, other countries make billions, their currency gets stronger, but you see Nigeria under apc, the case is opposite. Under Obj, excess earning paid Nigeria's debt, under Jonathan, it made us the largest economy on Africa and kept naira below 200m. Under the evil, recessionist, bloodsucking, poverty inflicting cursed apc, increase in oil price only brought poverty! Dangote has built refinary in Africa's no1 crude oil exporter, but dangote has to "import" crude from the US in $$! Foto!, No be juju be that? Ok, we were importing petrol, diesel, because of that refinary was built, abtacadabra! We now import crude to refine. Is that not 1000 steps forward and 1001 steps backwards? How will this reduce the cost of fuel or boost the value of naira?. I am getting convinced daily we handed this country into the hands of a gang of criminals. We gave our yams to goats for safe keeping. |

All these screaming over Dangote this Dangote that. The business will be ran like any other business and the nation will benefit where necessary. There will be challenges and there will be opportunities, there will be setbacks and there will be benefits, still life goes on. But for those whose all focus is only negative and negative, that's all you will see for as long as you want to. |
