Nigeria Not Your Inheritance; It Belongs To Everyone – Yoruba Group Slams Northern Leaders For Attacking Relocation Of CBN, FAAN Offices To Lagos
January 29, 2024

The group in a statement issued on Monday by its Director of Administration, Oladapo Kayode, described the criticisms as very unfortunate, dishonourable, outrageous, and irresponsible.

A pan-Yoruba group, Yoruba Professionals Foundation (YPF), has slammed northern leaders critical of relocation of the headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Department of Banking Supervision of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to Lagos State.

The group in a statement issued on Monday by its Director of Administration, Oladapo Kayode, described the criticisms as very unfortunate, dishonourable, outrageous, and irresponsible.

Insisting that Nigeria is not the inheritance of the North but a land for Nigerians, the group branded the attackers of the policy as “ethnic entrepreneurs and divisive elements” masquerading as Northern leaders.

According to the statement, the relocation of the Department of Banking supervision of the CBN to Lagos is in order since 90% of Headquarters of Nigerian banks are in Lagos.

The statement added that the Headquarters of FAAN, which was hitherto in Lagos, was administratively moved to Abuja by the immediate past Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, a northerner, despite that 80% of air transportation businesses in Nigeria carried out in Lagos, the country's commercial nerve centre.

The group, however, cited that the headquarters of the National Examination Council (NECO) is in Minna, Niger State, Northern Nigeria, while the headquarters of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) is in Lokoja, Kogi State, also Northern Nigeria.

The headquarters of the Nigeria Air Force Reference Hospital, Nigeria Air Force Quick Response Unit and the Forwarding Operating Base of the Nigerian Army are in Daura, Katsina State.

The statement partly read: "90% of the headquarters of the Nigerian Military formations are in Kaduna State, Northern Nigeria. Nigerians from the South who own 90% of the resources used to build the formations sited against the principle of federal character in the North accepted everything in public interest but a relocation from Abuja to Lagos done in public interest is generating hues and cries from ethnic merchants from the North.

“We also need to inform these regional jesters that Nigeria is a federal state; therefore, any part of the country can host the office of any agency of government. For instance, in the international scene, the National Assembly of the Republic of Benin is situated in Port Novo while the Presidential Villa and Supreme Court are in Cotonou.

“In the United States, where we borrowed our liberal democracy from, Washington DC is the Capital, but New York is her commercial headquarters with several multinationals and international organizations such as the United Nations, International Monetary Fund (IMF), United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), etc.

“Additionally, the headquarters of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Environmental Protection Agency, Geological Survey, Foreign Reserve, etc. are all situated in New York, a region like Lagos in Nigeria to the United States people."

It added, “In Britain, the headquarters of the United Kingdom Visa Office for Africa is based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, just as South Africa has three different capitals for administration, commerce, and judiciary.

“We are therefore warning these desperate charlatans to desist from their myopic attacks on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his policies; failure to which we shall start engaging them as they deserve."

The group, however, stated that "these ethnic jesters" are only speaking for themselves and not the progressive people from the North who have consistently support the President Tinubu-led administration.

Ndume and co should know that it is high time Nigeria audited her infrastructure and spread it between the north and the south.

We demand immediate relocation of NNPC to Portharcourt, NDLEA to Anambra, NAPTIP to Edo, and Customs head office to Lagos while military establishment should be shared between the North and the South.

The era of military dictatorship which favoured the North is all gone, we are now on a plane-level ground where the North can not match the South head to head.

The South this time around will support the NC anytime power returns to the North. You cant be draining our resources through your self-inflicted crises and still be dictating to us.

He who pays the piper dictates the tune. Sharia North, you are but a spectator who should not abuse the privilege accorded you as part of Nigeria.

A Yoruba Muslim is not happy that yoruba is slamming Northern Muslims . Instead he’s asking why they’re not slamming a different group .

I always said it that these yoruba Muslims have a different agenda . They shout omo-oluabi and Ronu when it suits them , but once their fellow religious adherents in the north or Middle East are involved , they’re throw their own yoruba kinsmen under the bus in a heartbeat

When you call them out , they’ll do a 360 and says you’re trying to divide them . Who’s fooling who ?

This same people claim Lagos is congested.
Same people, say 'respect your host'
Same people want to annex National offices.

So, LAGOS and NIGERIA belongs to all, because you want to annex offices to LAGOS.?

Same you will still tell NIGERIANS to respect your useless and stupid actions?

That LAGOS will be sunk and you will all relocate to OSHOGBO... IBADAN...etc etc..

We have North, West and East! This is the tripod at independence and anytime you talk about North and South, you're actually talking about North and West because you've been swinging power between yourselves and has damaged the country beyond repair.

Like I said on a thread I posted here on Nairaland few days ago, these northerners have priced us.

It’s insane how Ali Ndume, northern elders and northern youths have audacity to ridicule President Bola Tinubu. It’s a normal thing to criticize any government but threatening the administration of President Ahmed Tinubu and Southern Nigeria is stupidity, foolishness and arrogance.

Like I said in my other post, the decision of the Northern elders and their youths will have political consequences they will never forget. The least the northern elders and youths could have done is maintain silence after betraying us for good 8 years.

I understand that we still have supporters of President Tinubu in the north but their Majority have made a stand. The core north will never taste power again in Nigeria. All your rights from 2024 henceforth shall become that of North Central/ South East.

Disgracing Osinbajo and almost stripping Tinubu naked in the market square because you wanted to keep power for 16yrs was the beginning of your downfall. If President Tinubu did not take the fight to you guys openly, you would have retain power for another 8yrs. You guys supported Atiku in last election. North Central votes and South South votes is what made Tinubu president today.

My good people of North Central, we will never repay good with bad. Get ready for 8yrs presidency after Tinubu. The south eastern part should be ready for Vice presidency.

Northern religious bigots & ethnic
jingoists will always want to read regional political meanings into everything.

When Boko haram started in the north,
most Muslims secretly supported them
since those initial attacks were against
Christians and Christian infrastructure and
businesses.

But by the time Boko haram no longer
had christian targets to attack, they began
attacking Muslims at that point, the
hypocritical northern politicians, especially Buhari and Northern elders began
selling a new narrative to their illiterate
population that Boko haram was being
sponsored by Goodluck Jonathan in order
to reduce the population of the Muslim
north.

Buhari then came to power and gave
license to kill to his brother herdsmen
and also became soft on Boko haram,
thereby turning northern Nigeria into
a hellhole of kidnappers, killers and
religious extremists.

The insecurity should be the immediate
concern of northern elites, but you
don't see them making suggestions on how
to solve the situation, yet they are here
overheating the polity, spending their
weak energy protesting about the relocation
of a CBN department to a rightful and
more efficient location..

Shame on them❗️❗️❗️

When you sound like this, you make your credible posts like the first one you made look hypocritical..yes, because the same south remember what you SW did to GEJ,to us fellow south from the SS.
As for the Igbos, you can't really blame them too cos it ought to have been their turn after they supported other tribes since 1999.

Well this ain't really no time for tribalism and accusations,we the south really need to find a way to rally round eachother and put all hands on deck and support tinubu to at least make real needed foundational changes in this country. The north has really kept us backward and retrogressive and keeps doing it today. We must pray nothing happens to tinubu otherwise,we and our daily igbo this, yoruba, obi that are done for.
We southerners needs deliverance from the north

Remember what GEJ did to south west first before we decided to treat his fvck up , after we voted heavily for him to became president he sidelined south west and he was also totally clueless about government. I can still remember Igbo gloating and mocking Yoruba on Nairaland through out GEJ tenure because they were the closest to GEJ government, they didn't remember southern unity then, they were the one that destroyed Jonathan government. In fact they started heavy tribalism and chest beating on Nairaland during Jonathan government what you are seeing online today is still the repercussion.

Even if no other place in the south support south west because they are jealous and bitter, South west will do just fine.
