It's actually not surprising that it hit over NGN1500 this week. Last week when it was trading around NGN1400, I commented it was going to hit NGN1500 before the end of this week. Below is a screenshot of my comment last week.

I will only be surprised it is fails to hit over NGN2500 before the end of this year (2024). I hate making these predictions but when you watch all economic indices and how our govt is still playing to the gallery just like the past administration, you cant help but know it will get worse and will likely not gonna get better if the govt doesn't change course!

Naira to hit NGN2500 before the end of 2024!

The government needs to arrest this situation before it degenerates to a full-blown crisis.

We know the game

Govt will bring it down to around 1200-1300

You will hear news that they have arrested some BDC people in Abuja and Kano

Then in two months time, we will see 1800

The official rate better follow it immediately, since they don't know how to control black market. Make the two craze together.

It is obvious that the recent steep decline in the value of the naira is not due to any proven economic factor.
It is artificial, mainly due to speculations by Nigerians.
I think the government should not intervene but ensure that there is little or no room for arbitrage as they seem to be doing lately.
Let the naira even fall down to 10,000 to the dollar if that is what the currency speculators want.
The market will naturally get to a bursting limit, like all ponzi schemes are bound to, where late entrants will lose heavily.
There is no difference between ponzi and what they are doing now.

Throwback:
Tinubu made it clear that the dollar should trade for whatever value those who are demanding it are willing to pay for it.

The question then is why are Nigerians so concerned about the naira value of the dollar?

The exchange rate is not a value of our local economy.

We were never a bigger economy than the USA when our Naira traded higher to a dollar on the 1960s and 1970s.

The UK is not a bigger economy than the USA despite the exchange rate between the British Pound and the US Dollar.

The government should focus on our local economy and achieving local sustenance, and ignore the exchange rate speculators.

As long as the average Nigerian can get all their needs and have enough left for savings and investments for the future, the exchange rate would be nothing but a number, just as it was when we had a higher exchange rate but a poorer economy compared to the US economy.
Are you not ashamed of your self
Minimum wage is 33k is that amount enough to feed for a month talk more of savings and investment
How long will you keep lying to yourself

Tilumbu change.

Let anything happen, Tinubu would not be involved in spending $1.5b monthly just to hold the Naira from falling.

It would get to a point that nobody would buy and that's when it would start to rise. Speculators should continue to buy and keep. The day will soon break.
