I remember one time in the village, my grandfather calling me and saying bia were akwa, which means come and take eggs .
I excitedly ran to him, only to be given these live creatures; No, thank you sir. grin🤣🤣

So, can you eat these? cheesy
Have you had them before?
If you have, how do they taste?
What do you call them in your language?

Yes I can.... As long as the food in question consist of 90% flesh and it’s very chewy, I’ll eat it.

My mother always say she can trust me even with human meat.

Yes, these are larva sourced from waned raffia palm tree which later metamorphosed to a kind of beetle found mostly in fresh palm wine. The Igbo name for this type of beetle is 'Akpakiri'. The other kind of larva is sourced from withered oil palm tree which metamorphosed to rhino beetle that you referred, Igbos call it 'Otugbu'. However, both are edible and nutritious.

I have eaten it severally and it tastes so good. We (Igbos) call it 'Eruru ngwo' because it is sourced from withered raffia palm tree. Though there is other specie called 'Eruru nkwu' which is sourced from withered oil palm tree.
