The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, codenamed So-Safe Corps, has rescued a 17-year-old boy, one Otohu Moses, who was allegedly kidnapped by yet-to-be identified kidnappers on Monday.

The father of the victim, Sunday Iboin, was said to have on Tuesday reported the incident to the So-Safe Corps explaining that his son was kidnapped when he went to urinate at the back of the house.

His kidnappers who were suspected to be members of the neighbourhood were said to have demanded N1.5m.

This was contained in a press statement issued on Wednesday from the Office of the State Commander of the Corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.

The statement partly reads, “On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, one Sunday Iboin came to the Olorunda Post of the corps to report that his son, Otohu Moses, was kidnapped at the Olorunsogo Community, Olorunda in Abeokuta North Local Government Area at about 2215hrs on Monday, January 29, 2024 while he went out to ease himself at the back of the house.

When Sunday could not see his son return on time, he called his phone number several times and a man picked it and told him in Yoruba language that his son had already been kidnapped.

“The father also said that the suspected kidnappers were asking for the ransom of N1.5m.

“The victim’s father told us that he suspected one of his neighbours to have masterminded the kidnapping.”

The statement disclosed further that “the operational team of the corps strategised, swung into action and then took the war to the alleged suspected kidnappers in the forest, some kilometres away from the point of kidnapping and the boy was rescued unhurt, though, with marks of cane on his body while the three armed kidnappers sighted escaped with one motorcycle.

“The rescued victim has been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Imala Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation.”

his son was kidnapped when he went to urinate at the back of the house.

So, kidnapping is now as common as pure water. And, with what Bayo Onanuga said about SA having higher rates, it will soon be as common as sand.

The most important question now is, "what can we do to arrest the trend?" Every problem has a solution.

Yankiss:
1. Better leadership.
2. Improved economy.
3. Public execution of culprits.
Nice ideas. Though numbers 1 and 2 are too ambiguous. More simplified actionable solutions are needed. 3 is great.

BALLOSKI:
Na SW dem wan turn to kidnappers den? Akeredolu is being missed.
True. The fact that insecurity spiked in SW after Akeredolu's passing reveals 4 things:

1. Criminals are scared by the presence of a serious CSO.

2. Therefore, in any state where there is insecurity and to the extent there is insecurity, the Governor of the state should be held responsible.

3. Similarly, in any country where there is insecurity and to the extent there is insecurity, the President of the country should be held responsible.
4. The insecurity in the country has a solution. It needs leaders who know what to do and have the heart to do it.

Government doesn't really want to be decisive about insecurities in the country, hence it will continue to happen. Tinubu that is supposed to foresee the affairs of the country has gone AWOL or should I say MIA.

What is happening in South West first

School kids were kidnapped
Then their king's was killed by gunmen
Now this kidnapped girl rescued in Ogun
I don't want to even talk about herdsmen chasing villagers away

Is South West that insecure ? The president is from South West he should make his region secured

Locals are the one running targeted kidnapping.
While bandits are in charge of highway and mass kidnapping.

I think there is a need for Nigeria as a whole to start implementing the death penalty as it is done in the US to serve as a strong deterrence to crimes such as kidnapping, terrorism, murder and corruption in high places as obtained in China.

A 17 year old boy cannot identify his captors? Go and blame an innocent neighbor who’s probably from another tribe.

They saw 3 armed men on a motorcycle and couldn’t raise alarm? Kontiniue
