I wish we could all decide to drastically reduce our taste for foreign goods.

Imported drinks, designer wear, luxurious cars, furniture, cosmetics, even toothpicks all require loads of forex. The truth is that if we concentrate our focus on patronising local producers more, they'll improve over time and we'll save more forex. Reno Omokri may sometimes sound like town crier, but he said as much. When given a deep thought, it's obvious that he's right.

Brainstorming to block the loopholes that agents of corruption and retrogression use to shortchange the system. In a country where banks were holding up $50billion in excesses for speculative purposes. A country with large deposits of Uranium yet the citizens take dollars to import phone and car batteries from the Chinese who come here to mine away our uranium. In a country where we have leather in abundance yet the people import shoes, a country blessed with textile but her people waste dollars importing fake fabrics. A country with crude at its backyard yet import fuel with subsidy. So much importation of junks and fake products with scarce resources while the local industries are left to rot. A country on self destruct peopled by the most greedy of human species.

In a country where everything you typed here and everything I am replying rn is a waste of time and data... It won't do any single thing

Managing the economy is more than fiscal and monetary manipulations. The key thing is productive economic activities.

- President Tinubu, please come back home sir. Nigeria needs a new economic foundation.
- Convoke a something like 'National Economic Conference' to develop a nationwide roadmap that will tap the economic potentials of geopolitical zones
- Set up a versatile economic think-tank and keep an open mind to their ideas. Look beyond Wale Edun and work with some crazy young minds to create out-of-box ideas for policies and programs.
- Develop short and long-term Economic and Development Plans and actively Implement it.
- Be positively strong-willed and don't sacrifice crucial things that MUST be done today for tomorrow's 2nd term. Nigerians will always appreciate positive results.
- Stimulate production in different aspects of the economy through incentives, make vital reforms of laws and processes, enthrone intentional concessions, etc.
- Move focus and relocate effort from attracting FDIs to encourage local industries, SMEs and entrepreneurs.
- Create more employments, boost local food production develop creative export drive strategies to earn forex.

can a man give what he does not have?

Your phone should be the first thing you'd leave

Then your clothes, your foreign rice for Nigerian local rice around the same price, and so many other things

It can't work that easily

i thought your emilokan singlehandedly built Lagos? Why looking for idea when he has absolutely everything? We warn you guys just as we warn una about Tinubu, but to an average die hard Tinubu supporters they believed anyone against their Messiah is Igbo. I am a Yoruba man from Osun state and i didn't support anything APC nor Tinubu. Tinubu has absolutely nothing to offer Nigerians. It's getting to a year now he became the president, he has made Nigerians begging for Buhari to come back.

Few people are happy that Nigeria is witnessing economic turmoil because their pocket is getting full to the detriment of masses who have no access to forex.
This current problem is as a result of lapses in running Nigeria as an entity in which a lot of cover ups and manipulations were not duly punished due to ethnic coloration and religious bigotry from time immemorial which has become the gun powder that is leaking small small now
Why will a bank allow someone to have a domiciliary account without a foreign source where the income is coming from.

The Rich among Nigerians has accumulated so much of Naira that they must buy expenses things abroad. 90% of products, consumables in Nigeria and Africa are imported. Ours is just obvious because of our population and we have many thief’s that got thier money from shady deals and not productions. It will be so though God will help Nigeria

You can imagine the heads of 3 important agencies of government coming from the same region. In a highly sophisticated nation like Nigeria? Buhari also did it and got away with it. If the three man meeting was composed of people from the East hell would have let lose.

But let's see if the poverty and hardship ravaging the country will not affect their region.

The Nation newspaper trying very hard, but very laughable to use propaganda to shore up the tarnished image of Emilokan.
What will EFCC do to shore u the naira when crooks like Akpabio are walking not just free but with enhanced powers in Nigeria.
The bitter truth is that so long that Nigeria is ruled by corrupt people,no amount of meetings can effectively curtail the doom we face.

Clowns.

The people tasked with saving the naira are the same people responsible for the problems associated with it.

Which average Nigerian hoards or keeps dollars in substantial quantities?

It is the politicians that are responsible. They are the ones hoarding both naira and dollar and using it for frivolous things, buying houses around, spending it on thier wh×res etc.

Those who really need it, cannot readily access it. Now, they want to force those who have struggled to get it from other sources to give it to them so they can hoard it for themselves.

Let 'him' and his thieving acolytes release and repatriate the dollars in thier possession rather than taking from the masses.

After all, they are the ones buying vehicles from abroad and sponsoring their girlfriends to COPA conferences.

Tinubu single handedly contributed to what made APC a possibility due to his selfish interest. The party he brought in power destroyed Nigeria to a stage where it wouldn't be possible for anybody to redeem it within a few years but now he has achieved his selfish aims and came to destroy it to be completely irredeemable. Nigeria is a lost hope. No single hope for this country as the destruction that Tinubu started with Buhari, he has come to complete

Nice move. Everything is not about monetary policies. Sometimes, crude tactics are more effective. Those behind the forex are not playing by the CBN. CBN should also go out of its way to deal with them. Desperate times require desperate measures.
