What I’m seeing from all these matches is we need to be clinical. If you get 3 chances, convert them and do it quickly. When you kill the game early, you kill the opponent’s spirit to fight.

I like that our defense is solid but holding a 1-0 for 60+ mins still keeps the opponent in it. Don’t get one goal and just sit back. Finish the game

Mali was the better team, even before the Red card. They just couldn't manage the game well.

1 goal up and one man up and it is 87 mins and you couldn't kill off the game.

The youthfulness and inexperience in that Mali team really showed.

if you can't score nko, holding to your lead is also part of the game and a display of your awareness and discipline. Tournaments are for the brave

Seeing as Mali have a history for being perennial underachievers,I would advise that you take your mind off them...

Spain were perennial underachievers and later overcame it in a big way.

Any of these two go collect, if we stick to our guns and are on top of our game. Angola has been our toughest opponent thus far.

That one dey but all it takes is one slip in concentration and that 1-0 can turn to 1-1 as we saw in the CIV game.

Imagine that Angola shot that hit post actually went in, would have been a different game.

None of these teams are as good as Angola.

I just hope we take our chances and don't get complacent.

Drop Zaidu and we will lose the speed and swift positional recovery of that LWB role. No one faster on the team than Zaidu on that left wing.

Offensively, he is suspect but his forays forward (overlaps), his defending, his underlaps, power and speedy recovery makes him key to this 343.

His final deliveries have been very aweful.

Nope. The gap is too wide- 36th to 12th. I think thee highest we can leap is top 25

that team was the worst super eagles team to ever play at world cup. Prior to that, they ve been wobbling and fumbling. First at the nations cup where they struggled to win a single match losing to eventual winner egypt and ghana. Lagerback came and NFF draw up a list containing out of form utaka and kanu, toothless aiyegbeni for him to perform miracle. Only player that came to the party were danny shittu, enyeama, osaze and kalu uche
2010 eagles were bad but I raise you 2002 eagles, terrible team we were supposed to use the tournament to kickstart a new generation of players but many of them couldn’t even make 2004 Afcon squad.

I dont think Mali have a long term football development plan like Spain did...

They will never lack quality player given the generosity of France, but as a team, they're still poor..

That's why I hate it so much because it turns our idea of football on its head. It's anti - football. Football is, you play, I play and the better team wins. No be to deny me of the ball by running triangles up and down in crisp fashion. I just don't like it at all. So sterile.
That pattern is also a tactical playing style. It's called possession game.

It's a motive to pull out your opponents from their positions and force them to leave pockets of spaces at the back.

you can't win in every match no matter how good you are either by scoring goals or defending. It's all down to what happens on the field and how the match goes. play tiki-taka, play defensive, anyhow at the end of the day, it's the result at the end of the match that determines the outcome. All we can do is put in the efforts
