Insecurity: FCTA Licenses Nairaxi, Bolt For e-Taxi Operations In Abuja

In a move to address insecurity in the nation's capital, the FCT Administration, through its Transportation Secretariat, has granted licenses to Nairaxi and Bolt to operate ride-hailing apps in the territory under its Public Transport Management Scheme.

The approval designates Bolt and NAIRAXI as the exclusive licensed ride-hailing operators authorized to provide on-demand transport and logistics services using mobile applications in FCT.

This announcement was made in a statement published by FCTA Transportation Secretariat through its Public Transport Management Scheme under the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS-FCT).

The statement reads "The Administration will soon commence enforcement operations on non-compliant operators, and others are expected to initiate their licensing processes to avoid being banned from operating in the FCT."

According to him, this move aims to tackle insecurity challenges through verifiable data tracking and other significant benefits in the nation's capital.

"The licensing of NAIRAXI and Bolt will improve and regulate e-ride-hailing operations while elevating service excellence in the FCT.

"The FCTA will initiate immediate enforcement operations to clamp down on unlicensed operators in Abuja. The Public Transport Management Scheme also warns of a potential ban on operators without the FCTA Public Transport Management License.

Speaking with a driver, he described the FCTA's license as a platform that allows operators to work within specified regulations, ensuring commuters' confidence and safety.

He further explained that the authorization of the NAIRAXI Mobile App and Bolt is based on their top-notch digital transport and logistics services in the FCT.

Bolt is one of the leading transportation mobility companies in the world. It operates in 500 cities, with more than 3million drivers and over 150million customers. Its mobile app is also convenient, user friendly and secured.

NAIRAXI on the other hand is an indigenous mobility tech company with focus on intelligent mass transportation systems and ride hailing technologies. The firm won the innovator’s competition organized by Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) held February 2023.

This is a smart move ... but with the rising cost in Nigeria, who in his right mind will purchase a corrola for 7million and use it for taxi on these platforms.

Is the business model worth it ?

What value is their licensing adding to the existing system apart from the additional tax and levies?

If there's none, then just know that these additional tax will be transferred to the final consumers without any additional value added. In which case, we are worse off.

If there is any additional value, please enlighten us accordingly.

Hello good members of the group. I hope this message finds you well. My friend has been exploring opportunities in the civil service, and I've heard that having the support of well-connected individuals (not just merit) can be beneficial. Given the network and experience of some members here, I was wondering if any kind hearted might have any link to politicians (or the likes) or advice or guidance on navigating this process. He's frustrated so, he'd greatly value your insights and appreciate any assistance you could provide.

Society Management Blueprint from the West: Don't waste a good misery.

Chaos, death, anarchy, accidents , crime, kidnaping, etc are all wood that feed flaming capitalism. Only novice nations fail to capitalise on misery. I'm glad some in Nigeria are beginning to get it.

The government wants a reduction in insecurity, but they don't want to find a solution to extreme hunger and poverty.

Insecurity would never stop. NEVER. until the poor is allowed to breathe, until they provide jobs , until the price of common amenities as food and drugs are affordable to the common man in society.

Insecurity would never stop. If they like let them allocate billions of security votes/funds to governor's and senators. Insecurity would never stop.

Inflation keeps biting harder, prices of goods keep going higher. Purchasing power keeps getting lower. While government and their officials sleep in their high tower, and have a lot of security entourage tagging along their Range Rover.

INSECURITY WOULD NEVER STOP. We all know the new business in town now. KIDNAPPING. it would never stop. As far as the poor are neglected and they can't afford their basic needs. The president keeps flying abroad for medical treatment and exclusive Private lavish excursion. But the poor keeps dying of not been able to afford medical treatment.

Alot of people are out now to avenge the loss of their loved ones caused by how the government and others in power has neglected them. So the worse days are yet to come.

STAY SAFE.

Easy target for criminals in what sense? Your level of reasoning is quite disturbing. So its if they weren`t licensed by FCTA that they won`t be targets abi? LOL
