If dollar should drop to 1$ = #300 tomorrow, will price of things go down with it? Knowing how greedy Nigerians are, most won't reduce cost of goods. |

Ballzproblem2: His fans have been going bananas all over social media like say na only him no win. They should learn from Burnaboy ; he should go back to the drawing board this year and make more songs hoping he will get nominated and eventually win next year . E no pass like that. |

BlueRayDick: I understand this but there's a reason why people like Eminem started beefing the grammy. Even Nicki Minaj stopped submitting songs after awhile. When wizkid lost with the song essence, it was a shocker to everyone. |

Sportsweb: I bought an item for $50 and i exchanged it at 1400/$ Then, dollar becomes 300 tomorrow. If na you, you go reduce your price? Everything is not greediness, brother |

raumdeuter:The funny thing about the story was if he'd made the salary #1.4 million instead of $1,000, the response would have been entirely different. I just feel bad for the guy cause I know say e go surely collect small based on wetin happen, and from following him for a while now, I believe he didn't mean it the way it got perceived. |

Ballzproblem2: I believe that is the fear of his fans; they fear he might not drop a body of work that would do better than Timeless so they want him to win it with Timeless now |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by nihilistjnr: 9:31am On Feb 05 |
BlueRayDick: I think this actually shows just how far Burna and Wizxy have gone in this game. Imo Burna is inow ndubitably and undisputedly at the top of the food chain in this Afrobeats game, although an argument might be made that he has surpassed/doesn't do(delete one as necessary) Afrobeats. Case in point, Burna was actually competing with Drake(!) and J.Cole(!) In one category this year. Person wey pass you, pass you. Who too get, too get. As good an Alvum as Timeless was, and it was a dope album, i don't think it was necessarily made as a crossover album. If you love afrobeats, you'll love it. If you don't, then meh. Whereas Burna boy makes music with serious crossover appeal. Twice as tall was the equivalent of light skin nigga with blond highlights in his dreadlocks. He's black, but the whites can recognise something familiar about him. You only have to look at the structure of 'Las Las' to realise where Davido continues to fall short. 4 Likes 1 Share |

BlueRayDick:To me Davido's team & fans didn't do half of what Wizkid & his fans did after his 3 Grammy loss last year. Even Grammy had to lock their comments section after making any post. Angelina Kidjo wasn't left out too |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by nihilistjnr: 11:11am On Feb 05 |
odizeey: No, I said it has to have crossover appeal. You might want to google what that means. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award_for_Best_Global_Music_Album Look at this link and see the type of music that has been winning that award. Its not today. Thats why I mentioned Las Las. That song was on Burna's Love Damini album, and is arguably the biggest afrobeat song of all time, peaking at number 1 on the billboard chart in that same America, and that Album lost in the world music grammy category to someone called Masa Takumi(?) from Japan. When I think about it again, I have to revise my stance slightly on Burna's grammy win - and I wonder whether having Diddy as the executive producer of that album played a part. Either way, I think based on the voting history, thag it looks like the Grammys are viewing afrobeats album as Pop albums trying to sneak in through the back door into the wrong category based on ethnicity. Burna boy had a song in that album contesting with Drake, JCole, Durk etc. If Davido submits any of his songs in that category, he will lose, because his song doesn't crossover enough...meanwhile Burna's crossover appeal got him booked to actually perform at the Grammys But maybe his music is also not seen as authentically indigenous as well. Because again, just look at the past winners of these awards, and other than Angelique, tell me which one you've ever heard of. 1 Like |

Sportsweb: Haven't you noticed that despite the price of fuel being stable for some months, the cost of transportation still is rising? One reason is because they need to break even from their investment that is closely dependent on the dollar rate. You buy a Sienna in 2021 for 4.2 million, hoping to run it for 2 years, and get your 4.2 million back and buy another one. You get to 2023, making your 4.2 million, but Sienna is now 6 million. What do you do? Nigerians are not greedy sometimes. They just don't want to lose. |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 11:25am On Feb 05 |
nihilistjnr: The problem now is instead of Davido and his fans taking it in good faith and go back to the drawing board; some of them online have bee calling for Grammy's boycott from all afrobeat artistes. There's this Sope guy that has been wailing since daybreak calling naija artistes to stop submitting their work. I believe Davido and his fans invested so much emotions in those 3 nominations and that's why they've found it hard to accept the outcome. He should go back to the studio to cook and avoid all those Iskaba, keke napep rhymes. Next year is another year. Like u rightly said, after the loss Burna had to go back and became intentional with his music and gave it crossover appeal. I believe same can work for Davido |
