1. At some point, we got to stop paying these ransoms, then when the kidnappers wake up and see there is no money in it, they would immediately end the business. Yes, I know I am advocating something that is 'bad' and yes, I probably won't follow my advice if (God forbid) someone close to me, or loved one was kidnapped. But at some point, we got to stop giving these people money. The more money we pay them, the more they will kidnap, the more they will attract more people into the business. When would it stop.? 2. We got to fund our police better, and the police themselves should set up a specialist anti-kidnapping squad. It is time we fought this thing fire for fire. Enough is enough. It is obvious this cannot be fought the current way, we got to change the methods of warfare now. 3. Yes it is bad that we got APC again for another 4 years. But, let us put pressure on them still to lead us well. If dem no hear us, dem go see people's wrath on the streets soon. Also, put pressure on your governor and LG chairman. Not to be grumbling on nairaland we go do am. Modified Thanks for the responses. At the end of the day, remember the lesson of the Danegeld. Over a thousand years ago, the English were under repeated invasion by the Danes. Them danes were coming in, kidnapping and looting, and killing. The Englisc thought that by paying the Danes a substantial amount in gold., the Danes would go away...so they did and kept on doing. Result 1.Danes took over a large part of England and settled in the area 2.Danes eventually displaced the royal family, and became kings of England. Right. At some point, we either keep on paying OR we stop and we see. Eff,, there is no easy answer, and it is effing sad we don't have a sane government past or present that would properly fund the police. 15 Likes 3 Shares |

OmoFiditi:Have you listened to Father Mbaka who said kidnappers were kidnapping women and children in the east and opening up their stomach. The earlier you realise worse is happening at your backwater, the better for you. 23 Likes 6 Shares |

Most of them voted for Tinubu.... Tinubu has been a terrible disappointment... And to be honest I do not think that Atiku and Obi could have fared any better. The way to go is state and community policing.... Am surprised that Tinubu, with all the hype around him, regarding his political sagacity couldn't muster the political will to initiate state policing by lobbying the legislators. 18 Likes 3 Shares |

To think such vast network exists is scary indeed. Everybody is now like sheep lined up for slaughter -it can happen to anyone, anytime any place. 29 Likes 4 Shares |

Big shame on Nigeria security. It's clear those guys are not professionals, they even requested for cooked foods that can easily be poisoned. With all this their stupid arrangements no tracker is put on the items There's a possibility of an insider even among the parents. 24 Likes 4 Shares |

People think it is by tribe that a good leader can be gotten. A good man is a good man irrespective of tribe. See how Yaradua broke down the problems of Nigeria into seven(7) and was tackling them one after another, but you see this one shouting "it is my turn!", nothing dey eim head. Time shall tell. He built Eko, let him build Naija; we dey look am korokoro. 43 Likes 2 Shares |
