Bros, dey calm down. Afrojuju ke? grin grin Next thing, you go mention Apala grin

Burna's good. The best at the moment. But I think you need to calm down with the worship. Wizkid is more than a worthy rival, IMO. He has had more success on the home front and has the longevity to back his argument. Burna's success was propelled by the Black diaspora, not his home base. An inversion of the natural process of 'blowing'. It was when he started getting international recognition, starting with 'Ye' that people began to jump on his train. You can't be the GOAT of something as tribal as Afrobeats if it took foreigners for your own people to truly recognise you.

This constant fellating of Burna is why he keeps misbehaving and thinks he's tiers above everyone else. Throwing his colleagues under the bus in interviews. He is very good at what he does, no doubt but saying it's an insult to mention him alongside other Nigerian artistes is disrespecting the numerous talented artistes we have in the industry.
Wizkid has been there even before burna started dreaming..

2face too

So I wonder why the fuss about this burna?

No, I said it has to have crossover appeal. You might want to google what that means.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award_for_Best_Global_Music_Album

Look at this link and see the type of music that has been winning that award. Its not today.

Thats why I mentioned Las Las. That song was on Burna's Love Damini album, and is arguably the biggest afrobeat song of all time, peaking at number 1 on the billboard chart in that same America, and that Album lost in the world music grammy category to someone called Masa Takumi(?) from Japan.

When I think about it again, I have to revise my stance slightly on Burna's grammy win - and I wonder whether having Diddy as the executive producer of that album played a part.

Either way, I think based on the voting history, thag it looks like the Grammys are viewing afrobeats album as Pop albums trying to sneak in through the back door into the wrong category based on ethnicity.

Burna boy had a song in that album contesting with Drake, JCole, Durk etc. If Davido submits any of his songs in that category, he will lose, because his song doesn't crossover enough...meanwhile Burna's crossover appeal got him booked to actually perform at the Grammys

But maybe his music is also not seen as authentically indigenous as well. Because again, just look at the past winners of these awards, and other than Angelique, tell me which one you've ever heard of.

Grammy is mad. As far as the song has been nominated, they have an equal chance of winning based on their criteria. It's now left to votes.

Person wey win am no get up to 1 million views on youtube. Wetyn global for the album? If they feel afrobeat is not eligible for their indigenous criteria, then they should not nomiate them at all.

That Shakti na pure rubbish.

The problem now is instead of Davido and his fans taking it in good faith and go back to the drawing board; some of them online have bee calling for Grammy's boycott from all afrobeat artistes.

There's this Sope guy that has been wailing since daybreak calling naija artistes to stop submitting their work.

I believe Davido and his fans invested so much emotions in those 3 nominations and that's why they've found it hard to accept the outcome. He should go back to the studio to cook and avoid all those Iskaba, keke napep rhymes. Next year is another year.

Like u rightly said, after the loss Burna had to go back and became intentional with his music and gave it crossover appeal. I believe same can work for Davido

Person wey win Best album no even use drawing board. He just wake up enter studio. Them give am award.

E sure me say he just submit with faith

The roads are scary, these days.

Very soon, transport companies will begin to exempt themselves for being responsible for passengers, even inside their bus

Na only Lagos, protest is banned and protesters can be arrested,we can go to our state to hold our governors responsible by protesting and grounding economic activities there...

They should do so by other means.

It is even hypocritical that a state that delivered massively for APC is protesting. What do they want others that didn't deliver to do?

Arrest them!. No room for breakdown of law and order.

Imagine stoning the convoy of a deputy governor.

Are they mad?

But that is the problem. There are a lot of people who are working from home. I work from home for instance. And it is always in my mind that some ediat somewhere will report me to police as a yahoo man. And of course the police do not actually give a fk if I am a yahoo guy or not. They want me to be a yahoo guy so they can shake me down without consequence.

Even if they don't exempt themselves, already where will they get ransom to pay for every individual in the bus? If for example kidnappers request for N10m each for 16 passengers, shey na GIG or ABC go cough out N160m ?

I read one guy's thread on his experience on Birni-Gwari - Kaduna road . The guy is a motor boy for a logistics company and he narrated how all travellers along that route would stop at the outpost of Birni-Gwari once it's evening , pass the night there and wait till 8am when a military convoy led by two tanks would patrol the length of that road. So u just have to drive behind the military convoy to be able to pass safely on the road even during the day. Anything short of that, the insurgents ruling that route would kidnap u or worse still kill u.

Ideally, how these companies handle it is that they negotiate for all the passengers.

The problem worsens if one of the passengers go and pay the 16 million. Then you have put everybody at risk.

So what they advise is that they all put their resources together to remove everybody.

Also, I don't use GIGM and ABC. Any company that forces its drivers to stick to a speed limit, is not for me.

What you have said is why I tell my kids they are going to have a hard time in a few years. The same police that smile at me will harass, Bully and threaten them, because they are fishing. Put my son in a car, give him a laptop and police will be stopping and searching and harassing him.

Suspecting people is not enough to subject them to the trauma of some useless police breaking down their door and ransacking their house.

Just as wearing dreads is not justification for being arrested by police.

There should be better ways for the police to investigate an alleged fraud case than use trauma-causing methods.

The good thing is the police didn't find anything incriminating on the guy and they let him be without taking a pin from him.

I understand where iamoyindamola is coming from and I think he has a point when we take the recent explosion in Ibadan into consideration. Almost all the residents interviewed by press men said they usually see the occupants of the building bring home explosives but they never raised an alarm . Perhaps if they had raised alarm, they wouldn't be homeless today.

As for the software engineer who was shaken down by the police on the suspicion of his neighbors; it's obvious the guy moved into a neighborhood that is predominantly occupied by working class people who are majorly on-site workers. He didn't do himself favors by alienating himself from his Neighbours thereby making it difficult for anybody to know exactly what he does. The neighbors reporting their suspicion about him to the police is definitely their own way of watching out for themselves.
