I filled the ds 160 myself. My mum is retired and I also put she is retired but also put the places she has worked. Do you think being retired caused this?

Hey 🤠

1. Your mum is retired is not the reason and let's assume that it was the reason , do you want to say she is no more retired ? The Consular who interviewed your mum did not believe her (especially if you re married with kids) and that's probably her ties back in Nigeria is not well grounded . I don't know if your popsy is still around as well as other siblings . Those information will help me to give accurate reasons according to my own idea which is open to corrections .

2. The most difficult reason to overcome is the 214B denial. Essentially, the consular officer says that your mum possess immigrant intent and that he/she is not convinced she will come back. If parents are not willing to stay some children can force them , therefore you have job to do on your part.

3. Another thing that rings to my mind is that you have to sit momsy down and train her how to communicate or behave when she is with the consular because those consular usually studies parents body languages even while your mum is talking to the interpreter.

Best Wishes 🙏

My dad is late. My mum has her old age mother she takes care of, and my other siblings are at home too. In the new ds160, should I put married or widowed because I put widowed in the last one.. also my mum went with pictures of her properties, shop she sells at home, her mother’s picture but she wasn’t even able to show it. Also I put 3 months of stay in the last one. What’s a reasonable time period of stay to put for this one. Should I still indicate myself as paying for the trip? Or put her as the one. Pls I need help to fill out new ds160
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by sethtsadopp: 4:45pm On Feb 06
Please there is a part of my DS 160 Form I need clarification about. The question of
Do you have any immediate relatives, not including parents in the U.S.?

What is the State department's definition of "immediate relative"? I have an Aunt in the US (My Dad's sister), is she an immediate relative? I just want to make sure I'm filling accurate information.

Secondly the part that ask for US Contact Information. My contact is a couple (My Uncle and His wife) and I'll be staying at their place. Do I fill the information as Mr and Mrs so so so, or just fill the information of one of them?

Don’t change widowed to married it’ll complicate issues for you big time, my mom was put on admin processing because of a similar reason but eventually she got the visa again.
I personally believe Lagos or Abuja if you’re meant to get your visa you’ll get it .
Three months is too long fill three weeks max.
Maintain details you filled in the form asides putting yourself as sponsor , make sure you’re the sponsor and point of contact and tweak the length of time she has to stay in the USA.
Also if I may ask how did you attain your PR? I’m asking because the mode and manner of which relatives attain their PR status will influence the outcome of their relatives visa interview.
Pick early morning appointments abeg by 11am consular eye don see shege from different grammars.
To Conclude I will like say prep on your mom on answering questions directly and promptly, during my interview In Abuja a few years ago I noticed a guy who was being interviewed and the consular wasn’t understanding his accent neither was he understanding the consulars accent and she got impatient and passed him the blue paper. If she needs a translator make sure you tell her to indicate same as soon as she enters the building and hopefully she’s granted.

Hey 🤠

1. You should indicate widowed . She does not have to show ties via documentations, therefore , she does not need to go with those documents . 3 Months of stay is much , cut it to 7 weeks (be wise momsy doesn't like cold) . In the employment section for Mama , though she is retired but you have to indicate strong (volunteering works) works in the other activities section which she is doing in Nigeria .

2. Of course , you have to be the main sponsor including any other unexpected spendings she want to do in the US . Your financial records as well as other personal stuffs should be what she should go to the embassy with .

3. I forgot to write it the other time that the consular also looks at parents physical fitness . I hope Mama is not on wheel chair or needs someone's effort to walk ? It does not really mean ooo, but in extreme case , they don't want our parents to get to the US and stuck with sickness or ailment . Consular might even thinks that you want to use an idea to go and treat mama medically.

1. You do not have immediate relative in the US. Your immediate relative is your sisters and brothers from the same mother or father or both (Your aunt is a close relative ).

2. Write , Mr & Mrs God is good , address , phone number , email etc .

Thank you Debbie. I got my status as LPR through marriage to us citizen. I will fill another one and put 3 weeks. Yes I love early morning appointments. I saw that appointment times for Lagos is shorter than Abuja. Is it better I just do the Lagos again? Also the last one I put b1/b2 but got to my attention now that there is specifically b2 for tourism/medical treatment. So I should pick the b2 right?

With US embassy, you never know why she was rejected.

- Unless this is new, my mom is retired and got her visa the first time she applied. She renewed via Dropbox last year. My aunt is retired and got her visa last year ( she has travelled multiple times to US)

If she needs a translator, please find out how she can request for one at the embassy

B1/B2 is good that’s what I usually fill for myself , the class of the visa is appropriate because even if you fill B2 she will still be given B1/B2.
If she lives in Lagos let her go to Lagos again but this time better prepared. My cousin has a profile profile to yours too she went to the U.S. on K visa in 2018 got married within 21 days and become a PR and subsequently a citizen last year, she invited her mom over and she attended the interview her mom is 65 and retired as a teacher, I just prepped her a bit and she attended the interview in Lagos and got the visa, no travel history too. Don’t worry I know how painful it is, waiting for so long and getting refused. When my mom was put on admin processing my heart was beating almost 180bpm because we waited about 9 months for that date , dropbox had not resumed then but after three weeks she got a call from the embassy asking her to drop off her passport in dhl with the admin processing paper she was given.

I co agree, retired is not the issue here and I wish they usually divulged refusal reasons at least to allow people work on their errors.

All glory to God. I don't really get what you "re saying here but i think :

1. You have to fill a new DS 160 for now and input your own desired dates (travel plans) because you need the DS 160 confirmation number to apply for mumsy's visa appointment.

2. @debieeeee or any competent person can throw more light but that's my understanding.

Good day sir, @mr oyotunjujiUSA
I hope this message meets you well.
Pls I just want to confirm if the same statement of account I submitted to the school will be used at the embassy during the interview or will I get a more recent statement on same month of the interview? That’s like 2 months interval. I already have an interview date, but I had to defer semester and request for another i20 because I couldn’t get a date last year.
Thanks in advance 🙈

Please house, I am applying for a US Visa from UK to attend a conference in United States.

Am I going to select Business/Conference (B1) or Business & Tourism (Temporary Visitor) (B1/B2).

Secondly, I am a student in the UK and my study will end by May, graduation is by July but this conference will take place in June.

Thank you.

Hey 🤠

Let's follows the rule . This question should have been asked in the student section next time .

1. Usually the bank statement you sent to the school prior to the issuance of your Form I 20 (as your financial capability ) should also be taken to the embassy on the day of your interview because your I 20 will state your sponsor by quoting the same bank statement ..ie family , loan, parents, etc.
.
2. What you are expected to do is to go back to your bank to update the same bank statement (3 to 6 months ) in the case where you did not get an interview date on time . *** Nevertheless, you can take another bank statement to the embassy or sponsors letter if the situation changes (change of sponsor ) .

Best Wishes 🙏
