Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by AgEcon: 2:13pm On Feb 05
yes, that is the point. We have different scenarios. I have been studying in Canada before now. Just planning to bring my spouse to Canada after we recently got married. All documents were submitted during her application but we have included the updated transcripts and confirmation of enrollment after their email.

Jeboy:
Our case was a bit different though.

My spouse got a year course as admission which was revoked after study permit was issued then we appealed until another 2 years course was given later.

I applied before my spouse left so only few basics documents like fees, PPR, Stamp page were submitted.

When she got there, I now submitted more documents like Stiudy/Coop permit, student ID, student Enrolment (not official) to them but the latter admisision documents submitted were different from the initial Acceptance letter admission with different years of completion. I think that is where sparked issues with IRCC.

Instead of IRCC to request for the change in admission they will just give refuse you with insufficient reason.

Now I have reapplied explaining our scenarios.

One way to know your application is going well is to check your tracker, you should see your spouse name on your profile as sponsor with destination, length of sponsorship and relationship stated.

Once you can see this, your application is on course. I didn't see this in my 1st Application but am seeing it now and it's critical part of eligibility process where they allocated the same length of visa of your spouse to you.

Are you able to see Destination, sponsor name and the rest he mentioned on your tracker too?

No, I didn't see anything like that. Destination is unspecified.

Perhaps you should send your spouse’s recent transcript to them via webform.

My Eligibility is still showing Not Started though but you know those IRCC guys are lazy and it takes sometimes 2 weeks after you get PPR before those process to completed.

For now, my spouse is also extending her study so my destination is unspecified and the Length of sponsorship is also unavailable.

Once her extension is out these two can be completed too in my eligibility. Remember her 1st admission is not where she is so in my case they will rely in her current approval to deternine my destination and length of sponsorship.

Ogbigog:

Please were you able to see the sponsorship, destination and relationship status because your eligibility has started?
Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by AgEcon: 1:44am On Feb 06
Ok, we have similar timeline except that our medical was updated on 1st Feb.

Nothing else after that time. It is frustrating honestly.

Very correct.

Good luck!

Hi @OkukuOne, thanks for been helpful on this thread!
My program is for 8 months (starting May) and we're in the process of applying for a SOWP.
--Question-- How long are you planning to stay in Canada?
--My Answer-- Temporarily - more than 6 months
Is this correct, or should it be "Permanently"?

Thanks!

Good morning OKUKUONE.

During my application, I initially used my account as my wife’s POF with a closing balance of 15m. I now applied for my own SOWP after her visa was issued last month with same account but a closing balance of 14m and my father in-law’s account with a closing balance of 12m. Total of 26m, I just want to know if this is Okay.

It’s so tiring waiting and getting no updates, since the announcement came up in January I don’t think they have given response to anyone.

It’s very terrible.
The waiting is killing. I hope they know and understands what family means.
It’s not healthy living without your spouse for long a long time.

What email did you use please?

AgEcon:

What does this mean? Do they need additional documents or until they specifically ask?
Good day,

Thank you for your email enquiry and contacting the Migration Section.

In response to your email enquiry below, kindly note that this application is in queue for processing, and will be processed according to the receipt date.

Rest assured that you will be informed as soon as a decision is reached, or, if deemed appropriate, to request additional information.

To help facilitate your application when an officer reviews it, please forward one of the following, depending on your situation:

LMIA/LMIA-exempt work permits: an updated copy of your letter of offer showing that your employer still intends to hire you.
Accompanying spouse of a student: evidence of your spouse’s enrollment at an eligible Designated Learning Institution (DLI), and their most recent transcripts.
Accompanying spouse of a skilled worker: evidence of your spouse’s employment (i.e., letter of offer and paystubs), and a copy of their complete job description.
Post Graduate Work Permit Applicants: updated final transcripts from an eligible DLI, and a copy of your degree (if not previously provided)

Note that continually emailing requesting the status of your application will not result in expedited processing.

Please I just got a request letter from IRCC for my husband’s SOWP Application, I was asked to submit complete school fees payment, enrollment letter and confirmation of enrollment.
I have not paid the full school fees only full first semester and the second semester payment is due on the 1st of April.
Please is it possible I submit the first semester payment only without paying the second semester. Please help. It’s Urgent!!! Deadline to submit to IRCC is 14th of February

Go and pay your full tuition fees or risk refusal. Also make your proof of fund a bit above LICO for the size of your family. Spousal Open Work Permit is now a serious matter now with IRCC. Our people have spoilt things. Many students are still owing their respective schools tuition fees after they told IRCC that they had all the funds. They said some student now rely on the work done by their spouse to pay their tuition fees. They said this explains the rush and hurry hurry for SOWP rather than family unification. That's why the opposition Conservative Party is accusing the Liberal Government of bringing in "poor and low class" students to Canada

Good day. I need expert opinion on this case scenario. I have been following this page since last year December as guest.

I submitted visit visa with following timeline:
Submission: 28th Sept 2023
Biometric: 3rd Oct 2023
Biometric Updated on application: 10th Oct 2023.

I later submitted SOWP with following timeline:
Upfront Medicals: 14th December 2023
Submission: 24th Dec 2023
Biometric on application still showed: We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometric Updated on application: 27th Dec and showed completed in tracker

Medicals was updated passed Jan 3rd 2024 on visit application and completed on tracker but no update on SOWP application and tracker.

Application of visit visa was approved on 7th January 2024 and Passport request in 30 days, however nothing on SOWP.

Should I wait for result of SOWP before I submit passport (i.e. is there is possibility of outcome before 30 days) or make the submission right away? Thank you for your expert suggestions.

Timelines are to encourage all of us in the waiting list (I am always encourage seeing applications approved).

Congratulations on your PPR.
You don’t need to wait a bit for anything. Submit your passport immediately. You will get SOWP once you arrive Canada.

The request letter from IRCC is a positive sign for your application. These days, they're quick to give a refusal.

Since they asked you to show proof of payment of complete school fees, rush to pay the complete fees as directed. Anything short of that, IRCC may vex.

All the best.

Cheers.

Hey guys, anyone experience issues with uploading form MM1295?
I filled all the mandatory information and it passed Validation check, but upload fails.
None of the suggestions on the website applies to me.

Do I need to fill Fax details, even though I don't have one?

Thanks!

If anyone is currently applying for SOWP, please let's sync-up. I'm having issues with downloading and uploading IMM5707 and IMM1295e.
Anyone having issues?

Sorry to bother you again @OkukuOne, do you know if there're technical issues with the IRCC site?
I've sent an email regarding the issues I'm facing.

Thanks.
