With the growing trend of failed automatic transmissions, it is imperative that you use the right transmission fluids for your vehicle. There are no fake transmission fluids in Nigeria, it is the motorist who is not aware of the fluid that their vehicles require and as such uses any fluid that is cheap and affordable. You find people using Abro on a Murano and you begin to agonise on their behalf. Why is this common like finding a motorist with a blackberry phone putting Dexron 11 ATF on a vehicle that requires Type IV when he can easily google the type of ATF to use or like a gentleman that used Dexron 111 on a 2008 Mercedes Sclass. Why buy a car you cannot maintain? As we prepare for the festive season associated with mass movement, do this for your vehicle: check if there is sludge in your engine, if your ATF is black or has a burnt smell, if your gear has shifting problem, and also check if your tyres are winter or all season tyres with reduced speed capability. If you are buying new tyres, ensure that they are all traction A, temperature A. Change your air filter regularly and if you need further assistance on the above issues, send us a mail and we shall respond as soon as possible. nigeriaarc@hotmail.com or info@arcnigeria.com

Re: Transmission Fluids, Getting The Right One For Your Vehicle by sooperrescue(m): 9:32pm On Nov 05, 2012
There is nothing extraordinary about maintenance. Ensure first of all that there is no sludge in your engine, check the transmission fluid if it is an auto gear andif it has burnt smell or the colour is black, then change the oil. Be careful not to use any type of ATF. Honda uses ATFZ1 and unless otherwise stated like using Dexron 111, any other oil is not good for your car. Change the air filter regularly and dont let the local mecs tropicalise your vehicle by removing the thermostat. If you have sludge, use engine flush before you drain the old oil. Check your tyres if they are good for Nigerian Roads. Most vehicles are equipped with winter tyres and they are very dangerous for our roads. Look for the speed rating and the temperature A on the tyre. A typical Nigerian Spec tyre is stated as follows: 195/55/15/84H. H is the speed rating of 210km ph. If you are in Lagos or Abuja, you can come to our quick service outlets. You are also lucky that the car runs on unleaded Regular fuel. Happy Motoring.

pls i need your advise, my inlaw bought an mdx acura jeep from the usa, not up to 3 weeks, the transmission had developed a problem. He used mobil oil atf and discovered that it didnt improve, what should he do? thanks
Re: Transmission Fluids, Getting The Right One For Your Vehicle by ogo2k2: 2:51am On Nov 18, 2012
Thank you. Kindly confirm if the SpIII is available in Nigeria. And where it can be obtained from.
Re: Transmission Fluids, Getting The Right One For Your Vehicle by sooperrescue(m): 5:19am On Nov 18, 2012
For the acura mdx, no nigerian oil marketer is producing atf for newer cars. Mobil atf is dexron ii e which is the entry level for 1998 toyota till 2001: after that year, it serves no purpose. Acura has a long history of transmission failure and using the wrong oil is trouble. Your inlaw should buy honda atfz1. That is the atf recommended for all honda and acura. Send us a mail with your location and you will know the next step. As for the sp iii, they are available but you need to send us a mail stating your location and tel. number.

What is the correct transmission fluid for Mercedes Benz ML320
Re: Transmission Fluids, Getting The Right One For Your Vehicle by sooperrescue(m): 10:16am On Jan 13, 2013
Dexron 111. Not 111D or all those white fluids. Just Dexron 111. And you need 8 litres. And make sure the gear filter is changed if it is bad.

Re: Transmission Fluids, Getting The Right One For Your Vehicle by sooperrescue(m): 3:58pm On Jan 24, 2013
TYPE TIV is the oil for Big daddy. One of the differences between a 2002 and 2004 Toyota Camry is the Transmission fluid. The older version uses Dexron 111 while the newer one uses Typ TIV which is available in the open market or at some specialised shops. After that year model, Toyota later introduced WS( World Standard) which is supposed to be a life time oil but impracticable in Nigeria. Rodeo uses Dexron 111.
Infinity Qx4 uses Matic J ATF. You can buy from Alliance Autos or look for multi vehicle ATF. Call 08098534267

Honda Baby boy requires ATFZ1 or dexron 111. Flushing requires 5 litres. Any other ATF will ruin the gear. You can get it at Honda place or order from our website, www.arcnigeria.com

Good afternoon. I was searching the net to find a way of resolving the challenge I notice this morning on my car when I stumbled on your previous mail-thread and how you have helped Nairalanders. On my way to work this morning, I noticed that the drive light "D" of the car (Honda Pilot 2003) started blinking on its own. I parked the car, off the engine and restarted, then the blinking stopped. However, please confirm if it has to do with transmission fluid and kindly advise me on where and how I can get the right one for the car (Honda Pilot 2003) I live in Lagos. Thank you.
