Emaprince: You know they did it for political reasons because? When Soyinka was going to jail for Biafra he did it for political reasons too? When he was protesting the detaining of Vatsa he did it for political reasons When he was protesting for VP to be made substantive president he did it for political reasons too. Okay you that has no political reason can take it over If Soyinka is not doing it right by your standard, nothing stops you. Most of us here are older than Soyinka when he started his activism. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Emaprince: Don't mind him. Let him be talking as if we didn't know the political games they played. Soyinka that was very vocal in being sympathetic with the plight of common Nigerians saying the Nigerian citizens have been placed at the mercy of rampaging market forces in 2012 when fuel price was increased to N140; he is suddenly not interested in the plight of the common man any longer . |

BlueRayDick: Is Soyinka the only Nigerian? Is he more Nigerian than you? Or must Soyinka be the only one fighting and protesting. Anyone not satisfied can stage his own protest Soyinka has done many protest in his lifetime gone to jail, been arrested, been beaten when he was younger than most of us. Is it not a shame that people in their 20s 30s and 40s are still waiting for a man in his 90s to come and lead them to protest? It's like young Americans asking why Jesse Jackson is not protesting now, he has done his part now its your time If South Africans are having problems today maybe they will wake Mandela and Thabo Mbeki to come go jail or exile again on their behalf since they did it on the past Let us drag Obasanjo and Buhari for not coming to fight war against Boko Haram since they fought against Biafra too 2 Likes 3 Shares |

raumdeuter: The people in their 20’s and 30’s that protested during the ENDSARS did the useless APC government not send soldiers after them to use them for shooting practise ? Did the useless Lai Muhammed not lie through his teeth gas lighting and trying to deceive the whole world ? Did they not freeze people’s account simply because they donated to support a just course of fighting against police brutality ? Who knows , maybe if the youth decide to protest this time around its Bandits and Fulani herdsmen APC government will send after them 2 Likes |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 1:57pm On Feb 08 |
BlueRayDick: Is Soyinka the one giving orders to soldiers? Were govt not using people in Soyinkas time for shooting practice when they protest? When Mandela was protesting were they not using protesters for shooting practice? You think say using protesters for shooting practice just started at endsars Did that stop Soyinka Gani Falana and co from protesting Fela sang in 80s "No be outside them kill them student Soweto Zaria and Ife" shey na APC do that one? Or you think na now dem start to shoot protesters The entitlement that you can sit in your cozy home and the grandfather who protested in 1960 1970, 1980 1990 2000s should still come and protest on your behalf 60yrs later is really funny So people in their 20s protested and were shot so next thing is a 90yr old should come and do it for you? After doing it in his own time for 5 decades 4 Likes |

BlueRayDick: See the answer you gave... You protested and got shot so a 90yr old man should come take over? In Soyinkas generation he did not stay on the internet dragging Azikwe or Awolowo, he went out time and again even when he was jailed shot at and arrested Now we did one endsars and next is to sit on twitter forming activists that where is Soyinka to lead us again Yet you go dey wonder why it's 60-80yr Olds that keep ruling when na dem we go always point at everytime When they were shooting Soyinkas generation did he come to call you or stop him from further protests 2 Likes 1 Share |

raumdeuter: Oga soyinka has been in the past three weeks yarning nonsense in the tv rather than addressing the challenges Nigerians are currently facing. If he can't walk or stage a protest, let him call out the government in the news, as that's what we know him for. Is he suddenly mute against the hardships the thiefubu government is imposing on Nigerians just because it's "awa lokan"? What's happening now in Nigeria is what he protested against eight years ago. We expect him to continue from where he left off and refrain from seeking crumbs by visiting Tinubu. https://www.channelstv.com/2023/12/25/soyinka-visits-tinubu-discusses-seven-point-agenda-on-expectations/amp/ |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 2:15pm On Feb 08 |
raumdeuter: Smh. U said it’s a shame for people in their 20’s and 30’s to be waiting for an old man to protest for them . And I told u the last the young men did ; friends of the old man shot at them . Friends of those the old men helped get into power shot at them. Perhaps if the old men decide to magnanimous enough to carry their white hairs to do what they know how to do, their friends will definitely not have them shot at . Except u want to tell me Tinubu will have Soyinka who claimed they were both in trenches during military era shot now that he’s now the ruler . I know ur forte is to try and turn amala in every situation, but on this matter we know what we know . |

Incognito9: If Soyinka is not addressing what you need, what stops you from doing that? Who helped Soyinka to address his issues in his own time that you are looking for him to help you in your own time If what Soyinka is doing no reach you, then do you own Soyinka was younger than you when he was protesting facing bullets and going to prison So if your own children ask you why didnt this and that happen, you will say na Soyinka? 1 Like |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 2:57pm On Feb 08 |
BlueRayDick: They shot at Soyinka in his 20s and 30s too, they jailed him yet he didnt stop and ask Azikwe or Awolowo or Orunmila to come and protest for him. He continued Jonathan that Soyinka helped to get into power also shot at people protesting in Ojota, Buhari shot at people too, So what are you and I using our youthful years to do when we are asking a 90yr old man to still come and do what he already did in hs youth 1 Like |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 3:31pm On Feb 08 |
The 90 year old man who has always paid lip service to being a lifelong activist still owes the common people duty of at least speaking truth to power for the hardship they are facing under the useless party he helped brought to power. That at least is what decency demands. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Incognito9: 3:42pm On Feb 08 |
raumdeuter: This is still soyinka's time, he hasn't passed it yet. He criticized bad governance in his 80s, and he's still in his 80s, so there's no significant difference. This is what he signed for, let him continue and we will stand by his side. what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Stop defending him because the only reason he's not speaking now is because it's "awa lokan" and he's receiving the crumbs he's begging from tinubu. If he's unable to stage a protest due to old age, let him express his concerns about bad governance on live TV. After all, he was sharing his nonsense opinions on television for the past three weeks. 11 Likes 1 Share |

Incognito9: The past 60yrs has been Soyinkas time, when will you and I take up from him. What did you sign up for? Nairaland and twitter complaints? Soyinka protested and criticized at risk to his personal safety, if you are not satisfied you can do your own protest and criticism Of course the crumbs from Tinubu is why he is not protesting, Shey you sef dey collect crumbs ni abi why you never go protest? Incognito9:He is past his time but he always has the energy to speak about obidients and always insert Obi inside every presentation and interviews that doesn't remotely concern the later. But when it comes to speaking up against the hardship witnessed under emi lokan, he becomes too old to do that |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 4:03pm On Feb 08 |
The Save Nigeria Group had few activists and more of politicians in it. People like Soyinka and Falana would actually feel played or "scammed" after seeing those who they thought wanted the good of the masses, get to power and suddenly turned deaf. The magnitude and effect of that 2012 protest was made possible by the politicians in it, and not because Soyinka, Falana and Odumakin had the personality for it. Soyinka also dragged Buhari too for 8 years, and Buhari was also in the protest. So was he collecting crumbs too? The man should rest abeg. He's almost 90 and e don try. Instead of vexing for Soyinka, channel it to the ones that delivered bloc votes in Niger, only to come 11 months later to protest. I'm disappointed that the NPF missed a shooting practice opportunity 5 Likes |

Soyinka nobody has stopped you from protesting, And saying they killed protesters is not an excuse. They have been killing protesters since the days of Soyinka and it didnt stop him. Why is it stopping you? 1 Like |

treble champ 100: I get this is suppose to be a jab, but it's grating on my Yoruba brain how this phrase is so grammatically incorrect. 🫠 And it has gone so mainstream. Everytime I see people using it, I feel an "etymological" knife twisting deeper into my gut that I have no power to correct it. Okay. Even this one is correct, but its meaning is different from the intention of people. "Ebi pawa o" is literally saying "we were hungry." Or we starved. A past state. When you go to a party and you're telling someone your experience of how they didn't serve you and your friends food. Ebi N pawa is we are hungry...a current state. Continuous. Still happening. That single 'n' sound literally changes its meaning. Anyway...as we were. I doubt my mini-rant here would change anything. |

raumdeuter: Your name is also not Wole Soyinka and I'm not answerable to u for calling out an obvious hypocrisy on the part of Soyinka and his co-conspirators when I see one. If APC need more people to kill in protest grounds, they should wait for the northern protest to gain more ground and then should proceed on their usual killing spree. 8 Likes |
