Just go through that that list in few pages back and see if most of the things stated there are not necessary or not. It's not just about looking at the money as a whole sum. Look at the breakdown.
I still feel some are not necessary (personally my opinion). There are some luxuries some people might see as necessity.

What is one doing with DStv compact if it'll have strain on your budget for example?

That's luxury if you ask me

Really paltry.

You will start to wonder if the Nigerians that have kids and drive 15 year old cars are earning 1 million per month.

If you're spending this much on data, get starlink, it sorta pays for itself within a year especially if you're in a space you can share the data. 38k per month split across 3 persons that work from home is relatively cheap. The upfront on ordering and installing the STARLINK is like 500k sha.
I spend 160k on data for 100k for 1tb (MTN), 60k for 500gb on Airtel..

Solar inverter is the only thing preventing me from buying starlink

I believe anytime within this year, I'll be able to get my solar energy installed in my house 🏠 and I'll buy starlink..

I've already calculated 38k×12 which gives me around 456k because I'll be going for a year straight plan

I always maintain long-term plan in anything I'm doing..

But some of these things are not monthly but quarterly
If you buy cloths this month will you buy next month?
if you get bag of rice this monthly will it finish next month?
Same with school fees

If he's looking it at his own pov, then maybe he's correct (as per Rich family man). But on a general family man in Nigeria, 600k will be okay to scale above comfortably. I know my Uncle who has 4kids and yet they eat 3 times daily healthy meal (not 2 oo) and yet still there's still money for day to day expenditure yet he doesn't earn up to 600k

4 batteries 800K...hmmm. When did you get this quotation?

5KVa inverter for 500K, feels like old price. From what I'm seeing there o, it's looking like an installation that won't go the distance. You get anybody wey this guy don run installation for and it's lasted up to say 2 years?

Your average brand-new solar panel is going for 110K currently, the more quality ones, up to 150K. You can do solar for this price o, but I fear it won't go the distance.

Omor, 160K on data, you na the final boss of lifestyle...get Starlink, you dey throway money. At the rate you're spending on data, the Starlink don pay for e sef within 4 months.

Same with school fees

If u are a man who goes to work, u are expected to buy at least one shirt a month. Buying 12 shirts in 12 calender months is not in any way a luxury.

The school fees u pay every 3 to 4 months (a term is 3 months) so if ur child attends a school where they pay 150k per term, u definitely need to budget 50k per month.

For the bag of rice, nobody expects u to buy bags of rice monthy cos it's not just rice u will be eating; u will need to buy yam, beans, spaghetti, Noodles, Palm oil, groundnut oil, meat, fish, etc. U will also need to buy toiletries, gas and other sundry items

This thing is abundant everywhere.

Even people who do business; how many earn 600k monthly? Yet, they are okay.

I am surprised this is a serious debate here, and that is why i believe i am among the rich.

37,500 per month.

Tey keep saying the things there are luxury and I'm struggling to see how it's luxury. Jodera say instead of DSTV/GoTV, make d papa dey download film instead...no be money for data be that, or maybe na those 360p videos wey na only phone you fit see wetin dey go on...or maybe office data. There's ways around some of these things sha, or maybe the kids just don't watch TV, and you go for fairly used books and old newspapers as form of entertainment...maybe.

the guy actually told me they re doing some kind of promo..

And true true I don work with the guy before.. he Sabi work wella.... But I don't know if this price will remain same when I'll be ready to do the installation....

As for the data.. no be say I get money, it's a long term plan for me

I no get dstv, I stream and download anything I want to watch..

I don't go out .. In a month, I can count how many times I step outside the gate.. so no money for transport tro and fro for me..

I dey stock food for my fridge, so no eating out..

So if you calculate all these savings, one thing must chop man money and wetin dey really chop my money like this na all these fancy techy stuffs.. lol..

I no dey too spend on frivolities like clubbing, I no dey carry olosho cos I dey fear std (I actually hate condoms thoor)..

I dey stay mostly indoors unless when I wan just collect fresh air I fit stroll for my compound..

I had to buy a mini gym because looking at long term, it'd be a savings to me from going to gym house and renewing gym subscription

I no dey too spend money like that.. na just mu brain I dey use for this tinubu economy grin

Can't wait to get that starlink.. it's one of my short term dreams (as little as it might seem) cheesy

The burn rate on data still seems high, there's no way you want to justify 160k on data when there's the option of getting Starlink for 440K + installation 60K. You should be placing your order like yesterday, given how much you spend on data.

If you're giving Kids base foods to take to school, why still giving them snacks??
I still feel it's a luxury for the kids to be honest.
I see some kids bring that to school (food plus snacks) and one thing I know is common while growing up, they were very Rich family kids

Family Data? What does that mean.?

If it's mobile internet family subscription. That's the first time I'm hearing it too.

If a child is old enough to have a phone, then he's old enough to save at least to sub for his own data.

All these things to me a expenses for Rich families that are really luxury. Necessities aren't all these things na.

If you get up to 10hrs of electricity per day on average, it still pays for itself within 6 months tops, and that's with you using it alone...if you con get persons you fit share the subscription with, cause it's unlimited, it pays itself off in even less time. How many hrs you dey on gen per day?

What he did in the list is make provisions towards each expenses on a monthly basis irrespective of whether u pay it monthly, quarterly or annually.

I noticed u have issues about the DSTV , but u didn't say anything about the black tax. Do u think it's fair to send just N15k to one's parent out of N600k ?
