The reason is that they still use emotions to watch Nigeria's game. In fact, I don't use emotions to watch anything I see on a mere television. I stopped that when I realised that my happiness is too important to be left in the hands of random boys who wear green and white jersey to run up and down in a field for some minutes for their own benefits. 3 Likes |

What he wrote is totally unrelated to the caption. What he wrote is true but not directly responsible for the death. Laziness is his only valid point in the article. The country is bad but bad economy is not the cause of the death. Technology and modern food collectively deteriorate people's health. Many people that eat what leads to obesity hardly exercise. Adulterated consumables now prone people to high BP. This is why excitement or anxiety can easily trigger heart attack and result in death. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

SoNature:Is this the first AFCON ever played by Nigeria? Why were Nigerians not dying like fowls all these years watching AFCON games where Super Eagles are playing? Why up to 5 people only this year? That man said something deep here. Nlfpmod 2 Likes 1 Share |

LoveLeadsLand:But there is a level things get to and things happen by themselves. I found that the increased death rate of Nigerians watching the AFCON tournament is a manifestation of a protest happening under the hood. Many Nigerians are hungry, so hungry they are unable to fight back at their real enemies. They have no one on whom to vent their frustration since they are afraid of the overlords. They sometimes try to vent it on their fellow citizens. But being equally hungry and therefore angry, those fellow citizens will often fight back. Being a coward, which is typical of all bullies, the Nigerian goes back to his shell. Then, he looks for the easy way out which must be entertainment, the modern opium of the masses. ~~~~~~~~~~~ WHAT I MEAN BY ‘HUNGER’: SHOWING HOW IT AFFECTS NIGERIANS ACROSS BOARDS Hunger here is not all about bare food, even when that is still a concern in Nigeria (which is a huge shame). ‘Hunger’ also includes businesses that are failing and other indices of micro and macroeconomics that are going down. So, don't ask me about the supposed ‘big man’ that died in a West African country. ‘Hunger’ also includes when there are too many people opening their mouths to you to feed them. Many Nigerians in the diaspora have been going through a lot, trying to pay bills and still have something left to send to their families and friends back home, many of whom have been impoverished mainly by a continuous succession of government high-handedness brought to a head by the current administration. In a soon-to-be-published article, I'm going to share the screenshot of a conversation that took place on a platform for Nigerians in the UK recently. That illustration has a way of deepening the explanation of this. ////// ////// My Takes on This Topic: The Italy-based Desmond Nweke made some interesting points, BUT he is absolutely WRONG with regards to the cause of deaths of those 5 folks who passed on last week. 1. First off, people have been passing on from shock or heart attacks as a result of the poor performances of their favorite sports clubs for years, and the advent of the Internet and social media just made the aggregation and broadcasting of these deaths much faster. The lack of multivitamins and sustainable physical exercises to firm up the lungs and hearts are major causes of these deaths and bringing politics into the convo mix was completely off the trail to be honest! 2. Second, when YOU put TOO much EMOTIONS and unrealistic expectations in a sport like soccer, you'll be absolutely disappointed! Only the very wise folks would realistically detach themselves from a mundane or ephemeral sport such as soccer being played by a group of overpaid young boys or young men for private sports club or for national teams. These boys have been known to play way below par when fans have great expectations from them. 3. Third, people must learn to derive their joy (or happiness) from engaging in other less emotionally-draining hobbies or sports such as chess. This is exactly what I've done to avoid potential heart attacks after the male soccer teams such as the Eagles played NONSENSE on the field of play (back-to-back) in the late 1990s to early 2000s. The golden era of the Nigerian soccer "Dream Team" during the Atlanta Summer Olympic Games in 1994 was a great moment for me, but I've since learned the art of detachment from this kind of team sport called soccer so as NOT to die prematurel! 4.Gambling or sports betting: The love of sports betting can also contribute to having heart attacks if results do not pan out as planned. Hope this helps. ////// ////// |

Wow¡¡¡¡ Such a deep insightful piece. Let me summarise it for those who couldn't read nor understand. He said, Nigerians are looking for a moment of Glory since they couldn't find it in successive tyrannical government over the years who are too powerful blocking all form of protest and doing the least to address the citizens. He said this can be seen in End Sars protest where Nigeria has to look for a scape goat to protest against instead of the Federal government. Nigeria are looking for a cheap victory with the super Eagles to ease this tension and this is why there is a high rate of failure, especially in just one event ( osihmen canceled goal) that almost made most loose hope. The professor went on to say, the last president that gave Nigerians room for protest was Goodluck Jonathan and instead he was seen as weak and they as bully. He went on to say that is a cycle with Bullys and Cawords. |
