But I thought personal phones are supposed to be on airplane mode during air travels? As in, how're you communicating with us while journeying? Or is there something I'm missing here?

International flights have free wifi which works while your phone is on airplane mode. You can browse the internet but no calls.

On a side note, the deceased might be coming home for treatment. Medical costs in the states are quite high so some persons opt for cheaper and faster home treatments instead of the exorbitant overseas health bills. May her soul rip.

Trapped with a body? Who is trapped with a body?

Just cos someone died on a flight and the body was wrapped up, means the whole passengers are trapped with the body? It's obvious from your comment you haven't seen nothing yet. You haven't been admitted to a hospital where you see people dying all around you in the hospital ward. You haven't been to a morgue where dead bodies are stacked up on racks.

When you experience such and other instances you'd know that there's nothing to it. Death is part of living and everyone of us will die. There's no big deal about anyone dying, especially in this case when it's obviously of natural cause.
