I don't know about you guys, but I'm quite unbothered by the outcome of yesterday's game. Maybe because like I said earlier, the players have exceeded all expectations. They did well. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

It’s really funny how fans just switch up. What I saw from all the players was 150% commitment. They gave their best. Let’s not transfer negativity from the daily struggles, to fellow Nigerians who are equally trying to make something out of life at the same time giving their best to their fatherland/motherland. safarigirl: 1 Like |

Meliforme: Onyeka did not have an advanced role. That's how Onyeka plays for Brentford.. iwobi was been very careful probably due to red card he got at the last AFCON. iwobi was letting players run past him, ball watching, expecting passes to be played directly to his feet, when a player passes to Iwobi and the pass is not directly to his feet even if iwobi can jog to the pass iwobi would stand still and watch the pass go past him. iwobi did this in most of the matches. Peseiro did not have a plan, looping the ball from defense to attack has always been a Nigerian way of playing football. 3 Likes |

TheGoodJoe:You pick the results that buttresses your argument and ignore the ones that don't. Ultimately no system of football guarantees you results all the time. Tiki taka has succeeded and failed. Park the bus has failed and succeeded too. Don't put one on a pedestal like it's the ultimate. That's my point. 4 Likes |

Mujtahida: Im pissed that in a bid to make Nwakali better, they are trashing Iwobi. The same Iwobi that we knew was a game changer in that 21 AFCON but missed due to that card. In a pool of over 100players to make NT and we hear Nwakali for the last 3 afcons, you'll think he's the next Toni Kroos or David Silva. It's now disgusting and unbearable. |

Peseiro has built a tough team. No team can beat us easily. We block every spaces and pressure our opponents till they make mistakes. The only missing link is a good midfield that can create chance and break play effectively. I expect to see more new faces as the world cup qualifiers approaches |

charlesemeka85:No mind am. We played expansive football last Afcon. Dem knack us out after first round. This time we got to the finals. Algeria boasted the highest possession. Na first round dem waka go house. Spain use tiki taka dazzle the world in 2010. In 2014 Holland show dem pepper and they were bundled them out first round. So make nobody come crown one system of football as the ultimate. Just say I like it when we play so and so way. None guarantees you results all the time. 1 Like |

The truth we failed to tell ourselves is that we rode our luck to the final if we're to be honest, it was largely due to the sheer determination, "Naija no dey carry last" mentality and collective will of the team that brought us this far in the tournament, and not much of any managerial/coaching genius move from Peseiro who I think is an outdated below average coach. If reports about him not extending his contract are true, then I hope NFF pay him off, shake hands with him and wish him all the best. Right now, we should try everything within our means to get either that Angolan coach, Equatorial Guinea or even the Mauritanian coach (those guys know how to coach), those are teams that actually played very good football and looked very well coached. Otherwise we might have to take a chance with an Amunike/Finidi and hope they get it right tactically. As for the players...I think it's way overdue to start integrating new and fresh faces and ideas into the team...Iwobi for example seems overworked and out of ideas already, maybe it's time to try the likes of Dele-Bashiru, Ifeanyi Matthew, Michael Folrunsho, Nwakali, Victor Eletu and even Chuba Akpom in those creative plugs? It's borderline unacceptable that we keep parading a razor thin midfield every time! A new coach with modern football IQ shouldn't struggle to invite 6-7 midfielders per game so we can actually dominate ball possession and pass the balls into channels to create overloads of chances for the forwards. For the attack we look good, but surely the likes of Nathan Tella (who is settling in really well at Leverkusen), Gift Orban should now be integrated into the team...with Boniface/Osimhen as our main targetmen we should be fine. Musa pls go far away from the NT and retire like a man that truly loves his nation...Chukwueze should be on permanent probation NOW, Simon Moses is still a good utility player off the bench. Defence should feature new players like Igoh Ogbu, Adabarabioyo, Gab Osho (Luton town), and then we keep Captain Ekong for experience. We don't really need the likes of Awaziem anymore tbh, Omeruo can be kept around as a utility player for experience as well. We should also invite that lad from the NPFL who plays for Remo stars (Sodiq Ismail), the guy sabi cross, Zaidu no be am at all. Goal-keeping is still a shuffle but Nwabali has definitely earned a good case for himself as the #1 man...Okoye seems to be getting into his groove with Udinese so he should be brought back to give more competition...then the likes of Adeleye, Arthur Okonkwo, Obasogie and one or two home based GKs should be monitored for call up's depending on their form. I rest my case. 2 Likes |

safarigirl: There are different sizes when it comes to bag of rice and other foods. You don't have to buy the 77k rice when there is 10kg rice, 25kg Rice e.t.c. Dollar is not the currency Nigeria uses and it's rate has to do with the large population of the country relative to Nigeria's exports and is decided by World Slavery Bank and International Slavery Fund as a way for them to reduce Nigeria's population not Ti:nubu's policies... Unless you want the pre:sident to kill 150 million Nigerians overnight that 1500 is going to reach 2000 - 3000 so better be prepared.. |

Mujtahida: When a team is not in possession everyone is meant to defend and recover the ball.. iwobi defending and defensive duties is part his job. When the SE was not in possession iwobi didn't make any attempt to defend most times Bassey was doing iwobi's defensive duties. 1 Like |

SmallDick99:Is it guaranteed that if we had continued with the same formation, we would have gotten this far? Agreed it was haram football we played but can you say for sure that playing otherwise would have taken us far? My point is that nothing is guaranteed. You just do what you have to do and hope for the best. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by daveP(m): 10:38am On Feb 12 |
Danielnino00:True. Based on pre-tournament discussions on this very thread, there were loads of complaints about the setup, the formation Pes will use and how he intends to rotate players, especially as our midfield was the smallest in the competition. I dunno if he intended to utilize the midfield except for contributing to defending. Because if you notice his pattern of substitutions so far, it tells the story. Same for not utilizing Onyedika. Iwobi deployment was off. He made some errors actually but he can't play that role at all. He should be closer to attackers so his brain can function well. The next issue is trying to gel together till 2025 Afcon now. Next biggest assignment now is scouting for proper midfielders. If Pes goes and a new manager comes in and uses Iwobi well, na we we go still hype am and talk down on this very Jpes. |

safarigirl: There was no strikers crisis.. apart from Awoniyi, Boniface and Sadiq. there is Akor Adams, Gift Orban, Terem Moffi, aribo. e.t.c The team did not over-achieve.. The SE standard is to win the competition. If Super Falcons reach the final of WAFCON will you say they over-achieved? 1 Like |

First of all let me send a big appreciation to the Super Eagles for representing the country with pride, guts and sacrifice. Your performance captured the imagination of a nation and we are thankful for the joy you gave the whole of Nigeria these past few weeks. Keep your head up boys your day ultimate glory will come. Going forward there are many lessons to learn from how the final panned out and I hope the NFF takes their time to note the areas of the team that need improvement (hello midfield) and ensure we draft quality reinforcements ASAP. The team is still a work in progress but we're not far off from having a side that will dominate Africa and compete favorably at the World Cup in the nearest future. Speaking specifically about the game yesterday like I reasoned with some notable posters before the match there was a possibility of us getting punished if we didn't take the game to the Ivorians and it sadly turned out to be so. I hope JP or whoever will be in charge of the team during the World Cup qualifiers will try to find the right balance between attack and defense. JP showed two extremes that should be balanced out the pre-AFCON attack-centric side and AFCON defensively minded team need to be harmonized to get the best of the Eagles. Before concluding my post I have to congratulate CIV for being worthy winners on the night. They were good value for their victory and deserved the win based on how aggressively and positively they approached the match. Kudos also to the hosts and CAF for organizing the best AFCON tournament in living memory. 2 Likes |

safarigirl: There's need to single out players. When Joe Hart was at Man City under Pep Guardiola he was singled out and replaced, in fact most of the team was replaced only Aguero, David Silva, De Bruyne, Kompany, Toure were retained.. If a family is poor and one person in the family becomes successful and empowers his family members will you say it was family success or the one person's success that propelled the family? |
