The creation of an Ijebu State without the addition of ALL the Ijebu Local Government Areas in Lagos State comprising of Ikorodu, Epe, and Ibeju-Lekki and nearby environs is nothing according to the Ijebu folks who are currently indigenes of Lagos East Senatorial zone of Lagos State.

For those who don't know, the splitting of Ijebuland in the defunct Western Region on May 27,1967 by General Yakubu Gowon's military government into the two new states of Western State (later became Ogun State In 1976) and the new Lagos State led to Ikorodu, Epe, and Ibeju-Lekki being carved out of the larger Ijebuland to make up a larger landmass for the new Lagos State to benefit the indigenes.

States should ONLY be created if they are viable or BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENTS can just be made to bring ethnically similar people together instead of splitting them into multiple states where they ALWAYS get marginalized!

Some new States that seriously have to be created or have boundary adjustments in order to bring rapid economic development, stop major ethnic clashes and ethnic dominations are Southern Kaduna, Southern Borno, Southern Bauchi, Southern Gombe.

The Nupes of Kwara with 2 LGAS can be administratively merged with the Nupes in Niger State to create a new Nupe State, the Baribas (or Batonus who are Farooq Kperogi's people) have a larger part of their land and people in Benin Republic but they have 2 LGAs in Kwara and can merge with Niger State or be with the Nupes in a new state, and the Yorubas of Kwara with 12 LGAs out of the 16 LGAs of Kwara State can have a merger with the Yorubas (Okuns) of Kogi State.


There's a lot more to be said, but I'll stop here for the sake of brevity.

Isn’t it obvious? It’s driven by personal and group inspired greed and ‘sophisticated’ cunning….to get more from the centre and to have a bigger say in national legislative decision making, as well as create more positions locally for even more useless politicians to get rich or die trying!

Creating more states in this current economic situation isn't an intelligent thing to do. How will the new states government survive? It'll only result in more hardship for the people of the states.

You want to create Oke-Ogun State and you will now add Ogbomoso South and North and remove Surulere, Orire and Ogo Oluwa from Ogbomoso. So, that Ogbomoso will continue to suffer like they are currently under Ibadan people.

That of oke-ogun state is dead on arrival.

Firstly, it will reduce Ogbomosho's political influence. Out of the 5 local govts that is considered ogbomosho land, the new state picks only 2 and leaves the other 3 in another state. If you look at Ijebu state, it clearly seeks to pick all ijebu elements in present day ogun state into a new state. Likewise the proposed Ife Ijesa state picks the ijesha and ife elements of ogun state into another state...leaving the "old oyo yoruba" elements to remain in Osun....
