Iwobi was in a double pivot with Onyeka. They both had marking and pressing duties on Fofana and Kessie respectively.

Everytime they got the ball, their only triangle was with the fullbacks or defence because there was a man missing in the AM position. Either they play a sideways or backward triangle or a percentage ball into space for the winger which the winger may or may not get.

FYI, Onyeka only completed 10 passes in that match, Iwobi completed 20

Iwobi was not responsible for the shot played by the centre back. Iwobi had his midfield man and that shot was Osimhen shot to press, or an AM if we had one. .

I think WFH and reasonable kickoff times is the reason this AFCON gathered more viewers plus advancements in IPTV and streaming services

Apart from the above, I was turned off by previous tournaments because of obvious old men we were parading. I can't be developing HBP watching 40 year old men like Yakubu, Taiwo and Utaka fail to press their side, while Okocha and Kanu can't keep up, and Yobo is a step behind on every play. When I see tactical gaps and overloads caused by obvious reasons such as age cheating, I dey quick vex. At least this time I could see that every player was agile. The only one who looked slightly over the hill was Zaidu

When playing 3 at the back at the middle phase, one of the CBs should tuck into midfield to help out rather they just sat back allowing us to be outnumbered in midfield. Once you lose midfield battle in such embarrassing manner you are basically praying for luck and waiting for slaughter

Midfield is the most important battle in a game and should never be ceded easily to opponents

On certain occasions during the match, he'll have the space to dribble & run through the middle like he used to but no. The guy literally seemed lost althrough.
Like I said the critics are a bit justified, as the Cm if ain't recycling possession , winning second balls or jumping/making into tackles, you're just a waste pipe.
