Since I installed my 3.5kva,I've been stressless as far as electricity is concerned. Cost me a little more 1.5m. One of the best decisions I've made in recent times.

But Boss can 2m get me this in this current economy

With about 1.7m you can get a 3.2kva inverter with 4 batteries and installation. But the price is going up everyday. Can power 1 inverter deep freezer and 1hsp inverter AC, smart TVs, fans, laptops, energy saving bulbs etc

This your claim get as I be.
Most times a 300 watt rated panel will give you 50 to 100w effective power. So your 10 panels will give you 500W to 1Kw instant power. That's 1 pass my neighbour generator at best. More often your effective power is about 700W. AC is at least 1 hp, solar chest freezer is 100w, inverter fridge is 200w. Plus lighting ,TV, fan etc. There is no way 10 solar panels can power everything in your house. You are either supplementing from grid or running your home appliances one at a time.

Do not give peeps false expectation. Your effective power will be 10 to 20% of your installed capacity.
I think work of the panel is to charge the battery not to power the house directly because it is a DC. When the battery is been charge, the power pass through inverter which changes the DC to AC; that is what his household appliances make use off

It's splendid!

I use a 3.5kva 12v kartel inverter and 4 220AH tubular batteries I connected in parallel to make 880AH.

I power virtually every thing in the house including an lg inverter AC for most of the afternoons , an lg inverter fridge/freezer and a bona solar chest freezer.
Please with all this you mention ,how much did you cost you to install. Life is really becoming unbearable
I've been fully off grid for going to 6 years by May and I don't have any regrets at all.

The installation was done DIY with little touch by my electrician.

I have the same setup as exactly like this except mine is just two batteries instead of 4 batteries, I install it last year January but recently the battery does not hold more power so by 11pm it will be down, my installer said i need to add more distilled water to the battery, and I am thinking of adding two more panels to make it 10 and also add two more batteries, what do you advice?

In future, I think it's better to go for maintenance-free type: gel or AGM batteries... Or lithium, if you can afford it.

Good day, fellas. Considering the hike in Fuel and Nepa bill coupled with epileptic power supply in Naija. Now, guys using Solar energy instead of Nepa or Gen. How do you guys do it? What type do you use? How do you manage it? I'm thinking of using solar but i would like you to share your experience.

It's actually very good and a temporary alternative to local electricity!
However, you must be careful with those who offer you these equipments without finding out your total electric load and the number of time it will last!

Some have sadly been deceived into purchasing a solar inverter plus battery that didn't even last up to 5mins before it switched off!

For instance,if you have let's say a fridge,a number of bulbs and some appliances you use and it works very well when you put on your generator, that will give you an idea of your total load and the load capacity you will go for!

The next thing you will look out for is the time period you will keep enjoying the electricity before it goes off or alerts you for charging like your phone!

Have this in mind before asking for a solar inverter plus battery!

I stay in a duplex. I am installing a 3.6 kva inverter with solar which can carry two 1 hsp inverter acs, 1 inverter deep freezer, Smart TV, 20 laptops, 4-6 fans and over 20 energy saving bulbs for about 3m+

It’s not about the type or size of the house but what you want to power.

Premium tears loading except these appliances won't run simultaneously.

Never mix old and new lead acid batteries. The old ones would wear the new ones out in no time.

Also make sure your batteries are fully charged. It's possible the batteries do not float.

Can you quickly list the appliances you use after dark and their wattage alongside the time those appliances run
1 standing fan Ox Plus Standing Fan 92Watt, two 15 watts bulb and i switch on the fan from 10pm till 6am including the two bulb, occasionally 1 hp laptop for maybe 3hrs max

If it is DIY, then 2m can do it.
- Budget about 1.5m for LifeP04 battery + charging unit combo. This kind of product is a combination of the best battery lithium iron phosphate iv battery & the charge controller + inverter
- use about 500k to purchase panels.

Then do the connection yourself. No need to call any electrician.
Everything is like plug and play

What about the installation and connection of the solar panels, is it easy to do those by oneself?

You should be just fine if that's all you power during the night.

Is the inverter off from 4pm to 10pm? Basically let's assume 4pm is sundown.

You need to get a more efficient fan. That fan is guzzling you energy.

Let me give you a recent costing based on what I installed myself.

3.5kva pure sine wave inverter - 370,000

220ah Luminous tubular batteries x 4 - 340,000 x 4 = 1,360,000

120amps charge controller - 340,000

Circuit breakers - 95,000

Used Canadian 410w mono solar panel - 8 x 95,000 = 760,000

Cables - 25m @ 4000 per m = 100,000

Battery rack - 12,000

Solar installation rack - 15,000

Flexible wires and other installation materials - 40,000

Installation fee - 95,000

Total = 3,187,000

What the above solar system will power:

3 smart TVs
1 inverter deep freezer
1 inverter ac
6 energy saving bulbs
1 8.5hp washing machine
5 rechargeable standing fans
DStv decoder

But the freezers, ac, washing machine should not all be turned on at the same time and it must be during day time when the sun is shining. Once it's 6pm switch off your ac and freezer to save your battery so it can last long

Why is the battery not always strong?

Whenever I think about the solar.. People just talk abt the battery lives?

Sometimes users use it beyond it capability.

LifePo4 battery is the way to go.

My next upgrade will be in that direction.

On average how many years will the battery last before it will need replacement?

No they wont all be on at the same time.

The laptops will be on mostly during work hours , the when the ACs will most likely not be on. Two ACs will never be on at the same time, remember, they are inverter ACs. All fans will Hardly be on at the same time some
Are for work space others are for living spaces which do not work at the same time. Certainly all the energy saving bulbs will never be on at the same time. E.g Security lights only come on at night.

The priority and constant for me is the freezer to stock fresh goods/save costs -and its an inverter freezer.

If you have Nepa in your area, combine it with Solar and enjoy 24hrs light and save cost. Going off Grid, that is running only on solar alone will be expensive.

Buy 4 batteries for 1m, one 5kva inverter for 700k and 6pcs of 300w panels. Total is about 2m and forget generator for good. You can still do 1.2m own with 2 batteries.

If I had seen you contribution, I wouldn't have bothered replying him.

To your worry. The truth is that I get a full charge (Float charge) even before 3pm on most days with the number of solar panels I have.

Between 11am and 2pm, my generated wattage is like 900 averagely with current as high as 55 to 59A.

My inverter can get so hot up to 45 degrees that I worry at times.

All these I can pick on the epever screen monitor.

But hey, it has been so for close to 6 years now and I have not burnt anything yet.

I am totally off grid 100%

If your average is 900W or VA, isn't that small for such a huge array of panels? I get around 600 to 700 from around 11am for just 4x350W panels. Occasionally get up to 800 self. I've even been thinking this is low for my setup. I think the position of you panels may not be very efficient.
