A memorable one was in 2008 for a senior accounting job. Actually,I just assumed work as Accountant two days in a company while this job interview invite came a day after my assumption of duties. So ,I had to give excuse to come late for work so that I can attend the invite It was the chairman of the company that interviewed about twelve of us being first and the final. He only asked me what was our annual turnover which I said,he asked again if it was monthly or yearly,I said yearly,he smiled and sipped his juice. He came again asking me which type of official vehicle I was given. I mentioned it,he asked if it has AC,I said no. He smiled again. The one that finished everything was my current salary then. I told him. He smiled again. His PA, Secretary and wife were there. He then asked for my expected salary which sounds very low and poor to him. I knew from there that I have lost the job. He directed his PA to give me 4k for transport and promised to get back to me .Sometimes you need to hype yourself o. When I left,I was telling myself, boy you for don give them lamba nah,but that is not in me. I jejely resumed bayto my new job. 1 Like 1 Share |

In any interview, you have to prepare for likely questions like. 1. Tell us about yourself. This question is an opportunity to sell yourself. Your skills and all of that. 2. What's your long-term career goals. 3. Tell us about your job experience. Like how do you overcome challenges. 4. What are your weaknesses and strength. Watch YouTube videos about interview. Just prepare. In all just be prayerful. You might answer very well and still not get it. Went for one recently and I am praying for a favorable outcome. 3 Likes 1 Share |

I was 15years then and just finished secondary school. My cousin was working in this Indian company and was always forming big boy for me so I decided to also work and save money for myself before I get admission. You must go through 2stages of interview before they employ you, I succeeded in the first one and was directed to the last interviewer, an Indian. He sat in an open hall and was staring at me as I was approaching him, I almost lost confidence because his face was scary. I got to his desk and he said "do you want to play ball"? I didn't get what he said the first time because of his funny accent and he repeated the question .....I understood him this time and said "no". The next thing he said was "why are you dressed like this"? (I wore a Barcelona jersey, joggers and sneakers) He said I should go back home and change my clothes, I was very disappointed. When I got to the gate one of the secuity men saw my countenance and asked me what happened and I told him. He said I should wait, he took me to a lady in one office and explained what happened to the lady. The lady started laughing and said I should relax, that she would talk to the man. She asked me my two best subjects in school, I told her. The lady asked me some questions on my favorite subjects which I was able to answer. She started smiling and said I should follow her. She took me back to the Indian and told him I am still a small boy that he should ignore my dressing. He just said "ok, ok, ok take him inside" he didn't even bother to ask me any question ......that was how I got my first job. MODIFIED Abeg make una nor vex, na now I understand the topic. I high small this afternoon. 3 Likes |

Ahahaaa 😀 😀. My current job is a connection but i do go to other job interviews to get a side hustle as an engineer. The last interview was somewhat funny in the sense that, the owner of the firm has already chosen is preferred candidate among us base on personal encounter with the guy during one of professional seminar. The rest of us that came was a mere formality. The questions were interactive and base on personal experience. |

Nothing much; - Everyone is kinda slow and clumsy. The rain didn’t help matters. - They are considering making us continue shifts to reduce the number of staff in the office. - I don’t have clients coming in here and my heart goes out to people who have much customer interface, because with what I am seeing- there would be CASUALTIES. Hunger dey Nigeria! - Someone swapped my seat for a faulty one that keeps sliding down. I will go look for mine when I am ready. They don’t know I marked it. - I am looking at my (new) boss differently today. Over the work-from-home period, I realized in-house pressure influences lots of his erratic behavior. |

I told them my age and also my marital status (married) when they asked. I knew I aced the interview but they' never got back to me. Why don't organizations like to employ married young people?? They really passed me off. |

bolabadmus38: Man you dodged a bullet. If a boss/company needs a liar and deciever in a department as sensitive as accounts, trust me, you dodged a bullet. As an employer myself, I cherish honesty and hold integrity in high esteem. The fact that you tendered honest facts to them should have gotten you theat job INSTANTLY, IF it was genuine. Trust me man, it is one of two things - 1. They are up to shady things in that biz and as such do not want an honest man OR 2. They were intimidated by the perks of your current job and knew deep down they could not offer same. Either way, YOU WIN! |

Hmm...I went for a job interview late last year in a multinational company Lagos. I spent 2 days and nights prepping for the interview (interview invitation came late) that I was too sure of myself. The 'd' day came and I got to the venue very early to avoid stories that touch. We waited for 1 hour outside before we were asked to come in. Afterwards, we did a small test while we waited for the g.m who I heard was the one to conduct the second stage of the interview. Minutes later, we were asked to go outside and sit under the scorching sun as they would like to attend to their customers. Finally, the g.m arrived and the second interview started. I scanned the place, the other candidates seemed to be in their 20's and me late 30's, meaning that I was the oldest there. Secondly, they were casually dressed and I was formally dressed which I thought should be a plus for me. Two hours later, I was called inside and by then I was somehow exhausted from lack of sleep to hunger to the being under the sun for long. Immediately I got to the g.m's table, before I could even say a word, she asked me to go back to the door and come back. I obeyed and came back. We exchanged greetings and I sat down. She asked a few questions about myself and where I live and the next thing she said to me was that she likes everything about me but she can't interview me because I was smelling. My world came to an end immediately. I went blank... I have been going for interviews, I have worked for 6 years before quitting and no one has ever told me I was smelling. Why now, what went wrong. The dress I was putting on was my best, I bought it 30k. I used perfume before leaving the house. I took minted sweet before stepping into her office so what exactly was smelling on me. I calmed down and I tried to explain to her that it was possible I had sweat from long exposure to sun and heat and as a result my dress has trapped the smell but this woman refused to listen to my plea. That the reason why she asked me to go back to the door was because she wanted to be sure the smell was from me. Haa... the embarrassment was much. I thanked her and left. I kept asking myself, if I was smelling this bad why didn't people run from me even when I was in the bus.. I just concluded that it was not my destiny but since that time, I stopped going for interviews. I'd rather be self employed than have anyone insult me again. |

After I introduced myself, the interviewer then said "Why do you want this job since it's below your level". They mostly say things like that when they're not willing to pay well for the range the person would want based on his/her experience. |
