Gone are those days. The then Giant of Africa is the largest exporter of Cocoa then we don't even have crude oil. We have a very wonderful economy. But I weep for my country how things have greatly declined. How corruption ate our country and it's still eating and the sad part is that, the coming generation is being corrupted. We need to diversify. But who will save this country?? 5 Likes 1 Share |

Insecurity is the order of the day Judiciary get arm twisted to benefit individuals regardless of the merits of the case. Government is mute regarding the issues that's impacting small businesses With all these you think foreign investors will be attracted to anything in that country? Looking for them to come solve for problems that the government created for you. SMH Joker |

Where are the Team Russia and China? Let’s call a spade a spade. America and Europe own the soul and body of Africa. We can practically achieve nothing without them. We only boast about breaking away, forgetting that, we are already entangle beyond redemption. My utterances might be blunt and unpatriotic, but sometimes, someone has to say the truth. Africa is madly inlove with her number one enemy. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Hmmm ... did he put the same effort in reaching out to locals? ... what does the US know about cocoa? ... cocoa is red hot on the world market ... supply can't keep up with demand .... instead of trying to boost local production and trying to find US markets ... whereby ringing in foreign currency .... he's hell bent on inviting the foreigners to control the local ocoa market. Why would they not come? Local farmers are now in danger ... but it doesn't matter .... after all .... it's foreign investment. |

AllenSpencer: So you think it is Russia and China that meant well for Africa, so delusional. I don't think Putin that silenced every opposition and want to annex every neighboring countries to restore soviet empire is still in touch with humanity to have any sensible dealings with. Putin may wake up tomorrow and decide to turn Nigeria to a big farm lol. 2 Likes |

Nonsense. Let’s leave the white people alone. Let’s look inward. We cannot continue to depend on the Chinese on America to develop our economy. The poor people will end up suffering from this. |

For decades, have smart people not been calling for the decentralization of Nigeria's economic system? Have they not been begging for each State to develop their own natural resources and control their own destiny! Have we not sounded the alarm that Nigeria is practicing the very opposite of the economic system that exist in America, Canada, Germany, Japan and other industrialized nations! Have we not been begging the Federal Government to stop the practice whereby we drill oil in one State and allocate the revenue or proceeds to other States? Have we not tirelessly begged our Government that the only way to diversify Nigeria's economy is through decentralization and economic empowerment of States, as it is done in America, Canada, Germany, etc? With economic empowerment, some States will manage their natural resources better than others. So, industries will relocate to those States that provide better infrastructure, like uninterrupted power supply. Yes, some States will experience economic boom, and, unfortunately, some States will lag. But, more significantly, the entire Nation would not be held back by those States that cannot, or do not, want to move forward. But Hausa-Fulani oligarch stubbornly resisted decentralization, thereby preventing the diversification of Nigeria's economy. Decentralizing the economy would mean giving up control. Northerners have been controlling Nigeria like it is their private property. After the counter-coup of 1966, when they seized power, all National policies and decisions have been made with the interest of the North, leading to gradual and continued decline of the country. Northerners have been using Nigeria's resource wealth like it is their private fund. They dominate Nigerian armed forces and National security; they rushed the capital to the North; they built Kainji dam with resource revenue from the South; they blatantly defied the principles of location of industries, and established oil refineries in the North. They don't have oil, but they ran NNPC, and controlled most Oil Blocks. They enjoyed preferential treatment for admission into higher institution - the list is endless. Over-centralization compelled the country to depended on one main resource revenue. And this practice has finally killed the country. It's too late now. 2 Likes |
