Please does anyone know if an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Nigeria to the UK, with a lay over in Geneva Airport (Switzerland) require a transit visa?

You need a Schengen Airport Transit Visa. The visa allows its holder to connect through the international transit area of an airport in the Schengen area during a stopover or a change of flights. This visa does not allow its holder to leave the international transit area of an airport.

You must apply for an "A" airport transit visa (ATV) if you are having a layover in any Schengen state which includes Switzerland.

You do not require an airport transit visa if you are a holder of a valid visa for a Member State of the European Union or the European Economic Area, Canada, the United States or Japan.

Ethiopia airline doesn't need a transit Visa for technical lay over in Geneva. You can contact them to verify. This is what I used on 29 Dec .

Sacred of what?? Calm down ooo ...no stress urself....

They are still issuing COS...it may only take sometime if the employer doesn't have it at hand...meaning, employer will have to first get COS from home office /UKVI before applicant can get it ..

IELTS is compulsory for applying for care Visa
Some employers might make it a requirement before giving u a job just to be sure u are ready....

It’s the employer that would require IELTS not UK Abi? Meaning if the employer doesn’t ask, I don’t have to write the exam?

Before u enter UK through care job...u will apply for visa...UKVI expect u to submit IELTS report to with your application....or pay for international ECCTIS report (if u have a bachelors degree taught in English)....

Some employers also demand for IELTS ..because they know u need for visa application..

Help please

iby2k4us:

Could you please advise on what further steps can be taken following the court order?this is the second refusal and It seems like the UK authorities are determined to make this process difficult for individuals. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, I would be grateful for recommendations for an immigration lawyer who can assist with this matter as am considering administrative review

Content of refusal below

originally submitted with your visa application:
• Your passport issued 3
• Letter of consent from your mother
• Tenancy agreement
• Copy of your mother’s bank statement
• Birth certificate
• Letter from Secretary Welfare Office
• Court document dated 16/11/2023
• Letter from your school
• Copy of text message sent to Green-Coat Nursery
• School fees receipt only child’s name on but a bank copy of transaction.
I note that your mother’s visa was granted on February 2023 and you applied for
a visa on December 2023.
The birth certificate that you submitted shows *****as your father and
*********** as your mother.
I note that you have supplied a letter of consent from your mother along with a copy
of your mother’s tenancy agreement. I also note that you have supplied a copy of
your mother’s bank statement and a copy of transaction’s that shows your mother
has paid your school fees for September 2023 and January 2024. However, these
are not visible on your mother’s statements you have supplied. Also, the payment of

these fees is dated after you was refused a visa in February 2023. You have not
supplied any evidence that shows your mother has paid you school fees before
September 2023.
The Home Office wrote to you using the email address provided with your visa
application on the 24th January 2024 to ask if you wanted to provide any more
information, documents or evidence that you wish to be considered with your
application.
We received a reply on 29th January 2024 where you supplied the following
information:
• Another copy of the letter from Secretary Welfare Office and Court document
I acknowledge the letter from Secretary Welfare Office. This letter states: “you (your
mother) are a fit and proper person to take sole custody/guardianship” this does not
show that your mother has sole responsibility for your care only that they think she is
a fit person to be allowed to care for you. I also acknowledge the court document that
you have supplied. However, in paragraph 9 of this document, it states:
“That when the Applicant (your mother) informed the Respondent (your father) of the
need to allow the minor to be under his care while she is away; to give him the
fatherly love and care since the Applicant is not in the country; the Respondent
suggested that the best solution is for the minor to go with the Applicant’.
This document does not show that your father has relinquished his responsibilities for
your care. Also, your father has not provided any evidence relating to any serious or
compelling reasons why he cannot care for you. It was your mother’s personal
decision to depart for the UK and you have not provided sufficient evidence to grant
your visa on serious or compelling grounds under paragraph SW 30.2 (d).
Therefore, I am satisfied that the evidence you have provided does not demonstrates
that your father has no involvement in your upbringing.
I therefore refuse your application under paragraphs SW32A.1 with reference to
paragraph CHI3 (a) and CHI3 (c) of Appendix Children of Immigration Rules

Goodevening house, Pls una wey get update for the jobs make una help biko, agent or direct..my wife is an auxiliary nurse, had few certifications ,had written Ielts and we'v applied multiple times on indeed and few other sites with nothing yet. Maybe we not doing some stuff right. She has got a USA visa but expired which she couldn't use, it advisable to state the language test on her CV and the visa history ?

How do we answer question asking if she has permit to work in the UK , which most of the time they end the application once you say No' while you still in Nigeria?

Anyone with useful advice on how to navigate the job search should assist Biko.

Nigerian driver's license can be used for driving in the UK only for the first one year of your arrival in the UK. After that, you'll then need the UK one proper.

Thanks for this info. I contacted the manager and I was told the same thing you've written above.

So everybody, if you wish to book an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Nigeria to the UK, with a 1 hour layover in Geneva, you don't need a transit visa nor a yellow fever card, unless you're changing flights or doing a transfer.

If she were a registered nurse, maybe it would've enhanced her chances of getting a job as a nurse. It's hard to find auxiliary nurse/health care assistant jobs with sponsorships, cos even registered nurses are struggling to find nursing jobs.
However, you can try your luck by applying to NHS hospitals. Link below.
https://www.jobs.nhs.uk

Yes, she can mention her IELTS result in her CV.
She doesn't have work permit/right to work because she's not in the UK, so the answer has to be 'No'. You can't lie to an employer whom you're looking for them to sponsor you, since you're an overseas candidate. You can simply let them know at application or interview stage that you'll be needing a CoS to get a work permit. An employer who's really interested in her will definitely give her a chance.

Are you applying as a dependant? If yes, then you don't need to have a Job before applying. Just put date you intended to arrive UK. But it doesn't mean anything, your visa has 3months expiring date, what matters is that you travel before your visa expires.
