I think the issue of restructuring should now be on the front burner if truly we really want to grow and move forward. Let states control their resources n pay certain percentage to the federal government. In so doing states can now determine their fate, no more free money again... Imagine we don't even know what is happening in the solid mineral sector, meanwhile so much is going on in the sector unabated.. the locals have now turned lords of the realm, arming militias to commandeer the rich mineral zones in their states, locking out the federation from tapping and gaining from the exploration n exploitation of the minerals in their domain. Our southern senators should not think they r okay cos of the short-lived benefits they r getting from their humongous allowance n paychecks, they should rise to the occasion n speak against these anomaly the northern califates r perpetrating under the cover of Banditry n bullshit. If need be, let's move a motion for peace ful separation cos it's like THINGs have fallen apart and the centre can no longer hold this entity called Nigeria. |

Any policy the government wants to engage herself into with considering local production of goods is futile. Importation of goods, and services with the removal of fuel subsidy has worsened the current situation of Nigeria. There's mass hunger! Revolution looms!!! 1 Like |

Cutting of government expenditures is very important. If all the arms of government can cut it's overhead expenditures by 50% ,it help. When your expenses is overloaded you aren't moving anywhere. 1 Like |

This man is making Pat Utomi to sound like a prophet... because Pat Utomi predicted this Economic meltdown 2 years ago, given Nigeria's style of Government. What Wale Edun is simply saying is: this administration might be unable to solve this problem as it currently applies wasteful strategies that run deep into the fabric of government. Unless the entire Government is overhauled. 1 Like |

stano2: Emeifiele policy is not an economic policy but a political one, no underdeveloped economy goes completely cashless. What Nigeria end needs is production, production and production. But there are no structures for that in our economy. Insecurity, lack of infrastructure, and willingness is not there. Sorry but Nigeria is finished, it will take about 30 years of good economic policies to return the country to pre 2015. 3 Likes |

successmatters: What kind of mentality is this? If something is not working, why wait 7.5years to remove it? Do you think Nigerians can survive this level of hunger for 7.5years if nothing tangible is done by FG? |

visionsen: The CBN's MPC have no business with the fiscal side of the economy, as such they have no business with Wale, they are there to make monetary policies even though I see no reason why you should appoint career bankers an MPC members. During OBJ/Year adua, MPC members where professors of monetary economics. Even me with a degree in economics finds it difficult to understand monetary policies deeply. There problem is that, they want to fill every position with their friends, not minding what the result is. Imagine your CBN gov, being a public admin graduate both at bsc and msc level. What do you expect. 1 Like |

If we go by their past of transforming Lagos into the 4th largest economy in West Africa i think Nigeria is in for a jolly good time unlike the Pandora bastard Peter Obi that sank millions into poverty in Anambra. successmatters: 1 Like |

I did not watch the video, but I think this fellow is over his head. There is a difference between working as a tax collector in a state with excess revenue (yet plunging it in debt), compared to managing a country with scarce resources. Oga at the top should have put someone like Akinwumi Ambode, he certainly would do better than this current fellow. It is on record ambode is was the only governor of any western state that never added debt while heavily performing. |

Many people might not agree due to herd mentality but the truth is Emefiele was a better CBN governor and had a better understanding of our local economy. What was needed was consistency. This guy brought Nigeria out of recession 2 good times…and also excellently navigated Nigeria out of the Covid 19 crises. Both instances where global Financial crises that dealt with global economies and not just Nigeria. He enacted many policies to boast the economy while making sure that Local content is paramount. But what we have now in the person of Edun , and cardoso are IMF/WB puppets hell bent on applying textbook economics on Nigeria. From their press conferences you can tell they don’t really have a reality check of what’s going on in the grassroots levels. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Seun:/ Nonsense talk from a textbook economist. How can you increase tax on people and businesses who are barely surviving? They will pack up as we are currently experiencing. The money supply is too much leading to high inflation. Why increase the money supply and at the same time talking about curbing inflation? Away from the textbooks, let’s apply common sense. 1. Fix the refineries as a matter of urgency and stop fuel importation. Nigeria can be self-reliant in energy. 2. Ensure 24/7 electricity supply. This will support a lot of business and cut down on the cost of doing business. Buying diesel at N1500/liter is a dreamkiller. 3. Fix the roads. 4. Ban importation of non-essential commodities. These four actionable plans can be done in 1 year by a serious government. Giving handouts and doing giveaways are not economic plans one would expect from a so-called “seasoned” economist. / 2 Likes |

stano2: It will not. It will destroy the economy beyond repair. As Edun rightly said. The chunk of our money is in the hands of few. The question he failed to ask and answer was. Who are these few? The few are 10% of the populate of which 8% are politicians and 2% are business people. Who do you take this money from the 10% without destroying the economy? Not possible. Giving hand out to the remaining 90% will reck the economy too. How? Money acquired without giving value will be spent above equal value. This will cause increase in the cost of goods and services. Example is the fraud money that came into the country during American benefit scam. Also how long can the handout be sustained? Solution: Create about 1 million to 20 million jobs of minimum wage between 40k to 50k. The security of next month salary will give people confidence to spend what they end that month. Steady flow of money in the system will strengthen the economy. 3 Likes |
